Nominated for an Award

Nominated for an Award!

(Along with half the country?)

I was so excited to receive an email yesterday which started like this:

Dear Inspiring Individual

We choose YOU!

Congratulations on being nominated as a #MommyHero.

Until I chatted to Lynne Huysamen this morning and she said, "I knew it! I knew that was a mass email sent out to every Mom Blogger in South Africa. They didn't even bother to personalize it with our names".

We had such a good laugh about it.

Okay, so this is essentially a publicity stunt, however the company concerned is offering a quid pro quo.

If we accept the nomination, we have to:

• follow their Facebook page
• fill in some interview questions

In return, if I understand the mail correctly,

• our story will be featured on their new website and blog
• we can run a Giveaway of their products on our sites
• the company currently has a following on Facebook of 32,000+ Moms and Moms-to-be

I can see why that doesn't sound all that impressive to Lynne, she has way more followers than I do... and way more followers than they do.

We'll Take It, Thank You!

Still, we both decided to answer the interview questions because, even though they chose us PLUS xxx others, it's still good publicity for us.

And they are allowing us to add our websites and social media profiles to our interviews, which is great - so essentially we get Promotion and Backlinks.

So there we go... a little feather in our caps.

And somewhere I had written down that I wanted to be nominated for a blogging award this year, so I guess I can notch that up as achieved. Yay!

I'm also excited that they're planning an event in Cape Town (my home town) for April. Will be fab to vibe with all the other Moms who were nominated. And maybe I can convince Lynne to come into town so we can finally meet in person.

It's not quite Vegas... but hey, gotta start somewhere!
