Just landed my first paid speaking gig! Woohoo!
Oh my goodness. I just landed my first paid speaking gig.
I'm sooo excited! AND nervous! Woohoo!!! And Eek!!
Remember how I made all these plans to start creating online courses and had the thought I'd like to do them live first?
Well, it's happening.
It's coming together. Piece by piece.
In March, I delivered my first talk on Blogging at a women's networking breakfast and a friend of mine captured it live on video. I uploaded the video to YouTube.
At the end of the month, I'll be presenting another talk for the Entrepreneurs Indaba.
Both of these opportunities are unpaid. I'm sharing knowledge to get my name out there and build authority, much like we do when we offer a free ebook on our website or offer free training to our subscribers.
Paid Opportunies are Coming My Way
The day after my first talk I got offered an opportunity to present a 2-Hour Workshop for a very high powered friend who runs a Digital Marketing Agency.
I haven't prepared that workshop for her yet, it's been a bit of a crazy month and we've both been too busy to finalise the details. This was my first promise of a paid gig.
And this latest opportunity came through the same friend, Dylan Kohlstadt. The Training company had initially booked Dylan for the gig but she won't be available on the day so she referred them to me and they agreed! YAY!!
It's for a Social Media and Marketing Conference in Cape Town which is great, right?
The Part I'm Nervous About...
Only... I don't have that much time to prepare - less than a week.
And because I didn't get to choose the Talk Topics, they are not exactly Topics that roll off the tongue. I'll have to do quite a bit of preparation to be comfortable come Thursday.
I'm delivering two talks. The first one is entitled:
Digital Marketing Trends for 2019
Will have to do my homework on that one.
The second talk is on:
Online Reputation Management
More research required.
All thoughts on these topics WELCOMED. i.e. Heeeelp!!
So I have my work cut out for me. I'm going to EARN my R4k (+-$280).
Fortunately, if there's one thing you learn when you become an online marketer, it's how to do thorough RESEARCH.
There's no time to waste. Best I get to WORK!

I've watched you for awhile now. You're not new to this online space and you do great research, you present valuable information, and you have a heart to serve others. Most people are looking to improve their results and I believe you have the empathy to relate to them. If you can take your knowledge and give them some tips, you'll be fine.

You are so right. Wealthy Affiliate is the best community for support and encouragement. Thanks again Gabriel. I watched 2 hours of YouTube videos in the wee hours of the morning. Found some common trends, feeling more prepared already.

I am happy that you have found value in the videos, surely no wisdom of my own, but that of online marketing and trends giants which we all can benefit from and as they themselves recommend emulate
Please recall the timestamps on some of the videos so your stats and info will be accurate, other than that they are all spot on on the now and on the future.
Your presentation will be solid supported by the 3 amigos and of the Trend Hunter's amazing data.
If I may be so bold to predict, if you present some of the facts in the videos I have recommended to you, you will hear the crowd react and even be shellshock, Such is the disconnect between the so-called society at large and many of us in the "knowledge industry". Just my humble belief.
