Today I feel FREE!

First-off, apologies for my absence lately. Things have been craaaaazy!!

Especially the last few weeks.

Wrapping Up My Consulting Contract

My 6-months consulting contract at The Kids Gym turned into an 8-month contract which ended yesterday so I had to wrap up my work there.

School Applications

My son starts Grade 1 next so and we've opted for Public School which means applying to 3 Schools. So we've been completing reams of paperwork and online applications, doing School tours and meeting with Principals.

Home Renovations

We are also in the final stages of building onto our house, which, I discovered requires a lot of driving around choosing taps, lights, tiles, flooring, taps, shutters and lots of lots of decisions to be made.

Annual Tax Submission

To add insult to injury, the Taxman sends me a letter last on Monday afternoon, 25th to say my Tax submission AND PAYMENT is due on 28th. So I've spent the past 3 days working out my tax.

And then I spent my last month's Kids Gym pay cheque to pay for it. So much for using the money to help with the renovations. Ho hum.

It's been a manic time. It feels like I've been living from one stress to another for weeks on end. You know those phases of life where you feel like you're a hamster on a wheel.

But today... today, I can take a breath.

Because today is my first day working from home again on my own business.

Freedom to Escape that Hamster Wheel

Today I can sit at my kitchen table and write this post. And a post on my website about my upcoming talk at the Xtraordinary Women breakfast.

Today I can start focusing on my year ahead. Because, after all, today is the first day of the tax year, so it's a fitting day to start this new phase of my business.

This phase where I'm back in my business full-time... well, if any Stay at Home Mom can pretend she's available to work any business full-time. (I spent most of my morning tackling the housework, in 40 minutes it'll be time to rush off and fetch my little guy from School).

But this freedom... this feeling of freedom.

There's nowhere I have to go this morning, nothing I have to do, except the tasks I set for myself.

I'm loving it!

And Phew! I just paid my tax for the whole of last year. Thank You Kids Gym final paycheque! Feels so good knowing I'm starting the year on a clean slate.

So I've taken that deep breath... and there's still a stress that's lurking.

My Challenge for the Year

I have one big challenge to conquer this year. Just one.

It's to earn as much as I earned as a Consultant, as a Digital Entrepreneur (plus of course what I'm already as a Digital Entrepreneur).

Which roughly equals 3 x my current blogging business income. I'm earning $500 a month on average now, I need to up that to $1500 a month. And then some.

Because in my 8 months at The Kids Gym, I've let my business slide somewhat.

It hasn't died (Thank Heavens) but it's plateaued, it's stagnated. And it's time to move things forward.

I have my plan. I'll be creating digital courses this year. And I'm starting with the talk at Xtraordinary Women in 2 weeks.

So best I knuckle down and get to work.

How are you all doing?

I've been out of touch. Please catch me up, drop me a comment below with your latest news.

Thank you Lauren. I love the way the Provider of all things let your contract money turn up to pay your tax.
I will receive a blessing like that and it goes to something unexpected.
Then I "hear a voice" or thought in my mind rise up to say that extra $ was for your bill. And I say of course you provide just in time. Then, like you I get grateful.
All good.
I think you perceived that too.
Ken

Yes, absolutely Ken. Having the money at the right time was a blessing.

My husband often says "there's no such thing as spare cash"... and its true. We mostly make it to spend it, right? That's the flow.

Yes Lauren, it seems to work just as you say.
Ken

Welcome back Laurenjean. I'm sure your business will soar now you are back at it full time. Happy your back:)
Jenny

Thanks so much Jenny. How is your business doing?

Hi Laurenjean, slow!! didn't get an awful lot done in the last 6 months after the shoulder surgery. Just coming good now, but mindset and motivation aren't great, just found out got have the other shoulder done too. That will probably take me out for another 6 months, feeling a bit down about it all, but I will do what I can and as long as it is something, I have to see that as a positive.
All the best
Jenny

Aw, Jenny. So sorry to hear that you're battling with this. Hope both shoulders heal faster than expected and you also find a way to lift your spirits. Sending you love, joy and healing. I will hold you in my prayers.

Thanks Laurenjean, your a sweetheart!
Jenny

I know how you feel having a stroke and dealing with migraine headaches all in a 6 month time. I haven't been working like I should have but haven't been feeling the best.

Now I am feeling better and I came back to work. I have been working on my site and answering emails I will be starting back to training soon. So I am playing catch up myself.

Things are going to fall in place for you and you will be back on track soon. Best wishes to you on your journey with WA

Mary

Hi Mary, what a long 6 months that must have been. I suffered from migraines in my 20's and it was debilitating.
So glad to hear you are feeling well enough to work again. Sending you love, healing and happy thoughts as you get back into the swing.

Thank you LaurenJean I really appreciate your kind words and to answer your questions yes it has been a long 6-months because I couldn't work and that was dishearting to me. Thank you for the love, healing and happy thoughts I really appreciate that

Between the medication and the peppermint, I am feeling alot better. Yes migraines are very debilitating I was having them everyday and now I am having them less and less. So I am very happy about that.

So now that I am back to work I have alot to catch up on but I am taking it slowly for right now but I am doing fine.

Mary

Hi Mary, shoo, daily migraines, how horrible. So happy they are easing off now. You are wise to take it slow. Strength my friend.

Thank you for your kind words, my friend, I really appreciate that so very much. I am taking it slow but I do feel much better though. I am very thankful for the members for recommending the peppermint oil to me because that and the medication it has really helped me out a great deal.

Best wishes my friend

Awesome Mary! The Wealthy Affiliate community has a wealth of information and it's not just about online marketing. So cool.

Yes, they do and I am taking advantage of the knowledge and information. Thank you so much for your post and you reply I really appreciate that so much.

Mary

Life always has surprises for you.

You have a plan, that is half the battle. Stick to it the best you can. Just know life will try to trip you.

Love your logo!

Best wishes,
David

Thanks David. You are so right. And sometimes, you also get great surprises. The consulting job at The Kids Gym was just that. I put my own plans on pause for a while because the challenge excited me. I learnt a lot, grew a lot and had lots of fun. And now it's back to plan A.

I'm new. Going thru training. Goal is $500 per month. You are an inspiration. Thanks.
Miss Linda

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate, Linda. Great to meet you and wishing you all the best as you work your way through the training.

Hey Laurenjean, your post pretty much describes what has been happening to me over the past few months too. I still have clients’ projects to work on so nothing on my website for the past month.

But I’m still hanging on.
Great job ‘digital entrepreneur’. Keep moving forward.

Rey

Hi Rey, aah, your clients have been keeping you busy.
It's tricky when the work that pays the bills isn't your passion.
Hope you can carve out a few hours a week to dedicate to own website. Can't wait to see what you create.

Thanks. Working on that.

Awesome!

Hi Lauren, Welcome Back! Awesome post! Keep up the great work!

Hi, Thanks T! How's things on your side?

Hi Lauren, Thanks for asking! Things are good but slow motion, I feel so out of sorts trying to navigate and make changes on my site from my phone since my laptop is still being repaired. I haven't let it stop me, but using my phone or even the tablet makes me feel like I am moving at a snails pace....but at least I am moving, lol

Oh my goodness, I can just imagine! Hope your laptop gets repaired super quickly.

Hi Lauren, I finally got it back today. YAY!! So happy to be able to complete my work here at WA more efficiently!! Have a Great Day!

Lauren, I think I read that without taking a breath, so goodness knows how you're coping. In truth, it sounds exciting. The feeling of a challenge ahead and knowing that you will be to achieve your goals. Yes it will hard at times but for me that makes it more enjoyable. I look forward to reading more as you get stuck in.

Haha Twack. Take a breath. Yes, I am excited one moment, scared the next and overwhelmed the next. But let's go with excited.
