Accountability Quotes

Accountability. Such a big hairy scary word. Right?

Holding ourselves accountable to building our online empire isn't always easy. Sometimes it's downright hard. Especially when our lives are busy and full.

So I've added some Inspiring #AccountabilityQuotes to this post that may help motivate you to keep you on keeping on in those moments when life's burdens, curveballs and busy-ness seem to be slowing down your business. And driving you crazy in the process.

Darkness into Light

On Saturday morning I got up at 4:30am to get ready for a 5km Walk.

I joined 200,000 people across the globe for an initiative called #DarknessintoLight that began in Ireland in 2009 as fundraiser for Pieta House, which is a suicide and self harm crisis centre. This was the first year that Cape Town participated.

People start walking before dawn to signify darkness into light as the walk aims to break through the stigma of depression, self harm and suicide.

It's nearly Winter here so it was cold and drizzly on Saturday morning, yet 1300+ people came out to do the walk.

Accountability Partners

I wouldn't have known about this walk if it weren't for my friend, Mandy. I probably wouldn't have made it on the walk either if it weren't for her and her friend Melissa coming to fetch me on the way.

Because my son woke up while I was busy getting ready and I had to leave him at home crying to come with me. (He's only 4 so he's still a bit young to complete a 5km walk).

Having an Accountability partner can be exactly what you need to spring into action.

And Mandy and Melissa somehow even managed to get to me to run half of it.

We observed the first 1km of silent walking to honour and remember lost friends and then did the rest of the walk as an interval training session.

If it weren't for my friends, I would never have finished the walk feeling so exhilarated and triumphant. Mandy and Melissa were so encouraging. They never made me feel like I was holding them back (even though I'm sure I was).

With their coaching and coaxing, I was able to finish the walk in 47 minutes, long before most of the other walkers.

Wealthy Affiliate Accountability Partners

At Wealthy Affiliate, we also have a unique opportunity to access Accountability Partners who know exactly what we are going through as we first start and then continue to build an online business.

And Kyle, one of the Founders at Wealthy Affiliate volunteered to be our Accountability Partner when he set up his Super Affiliate Challenge in January this year.

To close out Month 3 of the Super Affiliate Challenge Kyle has set us an important Accountability Task.

Accountability Check-in

Accountability - A Look Back at the last 3 Months

Kyle's 5 Accountability Questions

  1. How did the first 3 months go?
  2. What accomplishments, achievements and business related activities are you proud?
  3. Where did you waste time?
  4. What tasks did you get better with?
  5. What can you do better in the next 3 months?

As we become Accountable, we will build something magnificent.

We will build something magical called Site Trust.

We will become an Authority online just like Kyle and Carson are, joining the many Top Digital Entrepreneurs who have learned their Art right here at Wealthy Affiliate.

So... without further ado, I'll give my answers to Kyle's questions.

How did the first 3 months go?

Well, the first month went brilliantly. It was a rush, but I managed to complete all my tasks and felt a marvellous sense of accomplishment.

In Month 2 and 3 the wheels seemed to come off. I was still completing many of tasks but I never felt I was in control.

I was allowing too many outside distractions to usurp my time. I didn't find the time to write all the content from scratch because I was publishing so many paid guest posts, which, of course, is money in the bank but doesn't give me the same creative outlet and sense of ownership.

What accomplishments, achievements and business related activities are you proud?

I am most proud of the first month when I wrote some of my best posts.

Becoming an Ambassador in Month 1 was also a great achievement and turns out maintaining it for the last 78 days has been an even bigger accomplishment. Or at least, it's felt that way to me as it hasn't been easy.

I also started getting a handle on my social media and site comments in Month 3 and it was fabulous to see the resulting increase in Domain Authority.

Where Did You Waste Time?

I spent hours and hours helping just 2 or 3 members and this left me very little time to pop onto Live Chat every day to help many members.

I caught myself becoming angry and resentful over this one day, which almost resulted in an outburst over Private Message. Luckily my computer battery ran down and I lost my entire message. I wrote a new one saying: "I'm sorry, I just don't have the time to help you right now."

It was a big lesson for me. Who's in control of what I do with my time? Me.

Oh... and is it just me who spends aaages on Keyword research and creating images?

What tasks did you get better with?

  • I think perhaps I got better at writing.
  • I learnt how to batch tasks to save time which has been a huge win.
  • I think my headlines and titles may have improved somewhat.
  • In month 3 I got better at sharing posts on social media.

What can you do better in the next 3 months?

I'd like to write more of my own posts in the next 3 months.

I'd like to say I'm going to be less distracted and focus ONLY on the tasks Kyle sets for us but I know that's virtually an impossible promise.

Because I have a very exciting project on the go in the background. One that will take a lot of time and energy to get off the ground but once it's up and running, will free up my time and make me far more efficient and effective.

Plus, with 3 thriving sites, I have people constantly contacting me asking to collaborate on all kinds of things and I feel its important to be open to the opportunities that come my way.

Ooh, and I'm really keen to do Jay's recent training on creating YouTube videos as that's one my goals this year. I'm hoping Kyle has VIDEO in store for us in Month 4.

“You are not who you say you are but rather what you do. Look at what it is that you do. If you don't like what you see: decide what you would like to see instead. Make those changes. Realize your potential. Harness your power. Seize every opportunity and do what it is that allows you to be true to yourself. Don't deny yourself your path. Only you can decide. Only you have that power. Only you are living your life.”

This is a awesome post Lauren and your right accountability is a scary word, but it is best to take stock of your progress and look for ways to improve ourselves, I did do my check in and I know I can do better so have come up with a few more ways to improve my chances as an affiliate. Loved your quotes.. when we say it out loud or write it down we can easily find our weak spots even if we work on one at a time we will soon fly

Thanks so much Katie. Yes... great point. Illuminate our weak spots, fix em and fly.

This hits home for since I feel that I haven't been taking advantage of the accountability that we have here at WA. I too, have let other things get in the way of my WA, website, and business goals.
It's time to be accountable.
