I Was Deserted Today!

I was deserted today! The Internet deserted me today. I thought we had a working relationship. But he just all of a sudden up and left me.

We have always treated each other well, well maybe not so good all the time. Sometimes he was slow and sometimes he just wouldn’t work at all but it wasn’t very often.

So I was quite surprised when he deserted me today. I hear he may come back around 8 PM or 3 AM. I just can’t believe he left me because it’s not something he has ever done before.

My first thought was what will I do without my Internet? Then I listened and it was so quiet in my house. There was no TV no sound and my husband was asleep in the chair.

To my dismay thoughts started flooding my head. Thoughts of what I can write and what I can convey to the world. With all the quiet it was incredible how

my mind started working again.

With no keys to punch my fingers felt lost and no screen in front of my face To occupy my time I had to decide what I would do next.

I was so happy when I realized I still had running water and electricity. I could clean my house. And I can dictate everything that’s in my mind to put down when my fingers can hit the keys again.

I made the decision that I shall have a wonderful day even though I was deserted today.

So my :-) may be kind a big because with no Internet I can’t size it. But it also shows just how big my smile is and how good I feel even though I was deserted today.

Having a solid Internet connection is like the next drug. My kids cannot put down their electronic devices and my wife spends a lot of time researching, blogging and doing things online too. However, it is good and healthy to unplug at times and do physical activity or read a book. As you said, it also gives you time to think and plan your next set of strategies and content too.

It's almost scary how much we rely on a stable Internet connection. It is not a given in many places around the world, so we should definitely learn to appreciate it more. But hey, the nature of our work revolves on being connected, doesn't it!

Oh yes the internet is pretty important to an affiliate marketer. I’ve been writing all of my ideas off line and ready to post he second I am connected again.

Hi Laura,
Yes, it is hard to live without the internet today.

When that happens I just go and do some other task that needs doing like gardening.

It is amazing in those moments how many new ideas will pop into your mind.

Maybe we should take a internet break more often, it could be of great benefit.

All the best

Darren

Hi Darren, no internet for 2 days now. I have cleaned house, Gardened, read, and written off line. Just patiently waiting and still enjoying our separation.

Laura

It is hard to lose the internet, but you have experienced what I go through when I go to bed at night. Suddenly my mind is free of all the noise and "stuff" that goes through it each day. Ideas start to flow. It is a good time to make a note of those ideas so you won't forget them. When you and the internet are together again, you have all sorts of new posts.

Yes, I have many thoughts rolling around.

Laura

Hi Laura, personally I think the Internet is a "She" :)

It is amazing how the Internet plays such a big role in our lives.

The old saying comes into play here, you know the lemon and lemonade thingy.

Glad to see you are up and running.

Michael

No up yet Burning on LTE. But it is kind of nice.

I feel like the old days again. Well sort of. LOL

Laura

Apparently my internet provider allows us parents to 'pause' the internet. my two children live in this fear and beg. Please Mum, don't do it hahahaha

Amazing how much we can achieve in the 'real world' when the virtual one is turned off!

Have a wonderful weekend

Oh but mom just think oh the quality time. Once they got over being mad at you.

Laura

The finger is hovering over it. I think I may do it tomorrow! I'll let you know what happens lol

My eldest, though he won't admit to it whilst in the throes of it, is a slave to his phone. Yet on the occasions that he has lost/broken/sold it, he always states that it has been such a peaceful time.

Yes it is very peaceful.

Laura

I can relate only difference is I was without power for a week and had to take a couple to days to getting back into the groove of things again with power.
So much you learn and remind yourself what to do and rest without all the extras.:)

Glad your back-hopefully!
Amy

Oh yes. I am grateful to have power and water.

Good spirit, I love it.

Thanks

Laura

Hi Laura,

Love your post, it was awesome, great concept talking about the internet like a real person and glad you still had water and electricity it was just internet....amazing when we don't have the internet, tv to distract us what we can think about and write about.

Good one!

Sue :)

Thank you so much. I was surprised at how fast my mind kicked in.

Laura

Haha ... "I was so happy when I realized I still had running water and electricity." It kind of puts things in perspective! :D
