Michael in the pergola

A homage to my better half, he is the best!

I started with Wealthy Affiliate in January 2017 thinking it would be nice to have a website. I then would have the possibility to write about what interests and worries me. When I realized there were a lot of things to write about I decided I needed 2 websites. At the beginning I really had no clue all the things needed for making, having and keeping a website going. It is now 18 months later, I have learned a lot and now realize it is work and time one has to dedicate but it really is worth it.

Wealthy Affiliate has all you need

Wealthy Affiliate gives me all the tools needed and the support. Then there is the great community of fellow members each of them putting their skills and knowledge at everybody's disposal. I have made some really nice contacts with people living in different parts of the world. I also met 2 lovely ladies during a recent trip to Holland. For future trips, in 2019 we plan to visit the U.S I will surely take into account to visit WA friends if they live somewhere close along the route.

My struggle with the technical part

Now you might think that sounds all nice and easy. Well, to tell you the truth it is nice but not always easy. Why do I say this? I say this because I am quite hopeless when it concerns the more technical part of making websites. I am very slow in understanding these type of things. Machines are not my cup of tea, I am more a nature person. Having this, I call it, handicap, I would have gotten stuck quite early on this adventure if it had not been for my better half.

Michaels emigration

On the 7th of June, we will celebrate our 3 years talking to each other. We will be attending a function of the Cirque de Soleil in Malaga. I live in the south of Spain and he used to live in Idaho, U.S.A. After 3 months talking he came to visit me in Sept. 2015. He stayed for 2 weeks and I showed him some nice places on the Costa del Sol. He then decided he was going to retire 1 year before time. In May 2016 he invited me for a lovely 3 weeks trip where he showed me a big part of the U.S. In August of the same year, he arrived with his cat Shugar, Victory motorbike, Thunderbird car, pieces of furniture and 150 boxes.

Shugar has found a nice place for her siesta

My Technical Manager

Michael has been at my side during this website making adventure. Even if he has sometimes complained I spend too much time on the computer he has solved all those technical problems I was not capable of doing myself. If it were not for him I would not be writing my monthly post.

This post is in homage to my BETTER half, here goes a big Hug to you.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

That´s teamwork Taetske, Best Alan

Hi Taetske,
That's a beautiful tribute to Michael. It's a real plus to have the support of people around us...and the bonus is even greater when they have a skill to contribute. Online learning is a challenge for me too. I like to have a teacher by my side demonstrating the process. My partner is supportive but knows nothing about computers....darn!
Debbie

Good Morning Debbie,

Now that really is bad luck, he does not understand technology? I thought most men do but there you see. I am good at drawing, designing, building myself and supervising the building of a house, it is the machines like computers/ and family which drive me nuts. Sometimes I have the impression they have a mind of their own.
You do your website all by yourself? Fantastic, I would not be able to do that.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Just me and WA...which is why my progress is so slow. Yeah..Bill is old school..he barely uses his cell phone but keeps me plugged in to our higher consciousness and all the esoteric stuff! It a nice balance.

Oh, Debbie, do not fret, I am as slow as a turtle. From young on I was/ am interested in esoteric and related issues, there are many interesting worlds out there. One life is too short so it will only be the tip of the iceberg. By the way, on Pinterest, I see a lot of interesting pins on this. Hasta Pronto.

Taetske

Hola Taetske, thanks for sharing a wonderful blog.
What could we do if we didn't have a great half to help us with the parts of our websites that we don't understand well!
I was reading your blog and it took me to the times I called my husband to help me with this and that every 5 minutes. Lol.
It's good to know you have a great "socio, amigo y pareja" in your life!
Greetings from Southern Western Quebec.
Buen dia a ambos en la hermosa Espana.

Good afternoon Alejandra,

Thank you for stopping by. Yes, the beginning times were somehow frustrating as I really did not understand most of it. Luckily after 18 months, I can do things myself without help and that really makes me happy.

You're fortunate to have such a great muse Taetske

Good Morning Mike,

There you see special things can be found in the U.S. He is a real gem.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

I grew up in Oregon next to Idaho Taetske. Idaho is a beautiful state. The Salmon River of No Return Wilderness Area is awesome!

The gem sitting next to me says that area is indeed gorgeous but he grew up in Colorado and is a bit jaded. He will acknowledge that his motorcycle trips up and down the Oregan coast were fabulous.

Buonos Dias Taetske,

I love to read your monthly posts!
Thank you for sharing you and Michals coming together. It's wonderful to hear what a great support he is in your life.

I'm also lucky to have a wonderful support from my husband, He's always encouraging me, giving me tips and helps me when I have got stuck with technical issues. Sometimes he sends a Whatsapp message from downstairs (when I can't get away from the computer) to ask if I want to come down for dinner!
:-D

Good Morning Pernilla,

I can see you are also blessed with an understanding better half.
Let's take good care of these nice men.

Dear Teetske

What a lovely tribute to what I prefer to call Your Other Half. Because he may well be better at the technical stuff but that doesn't make him better than you, just different.
You are the writer, you weave the tale.
You are the creator, it was you who took the initiative to embark on this online journey, despite your fear of technology.
Its also you who's building relationships with all of us and you who's following the training.

So please my friend, give yourself some credit too. You are awesome!

All the best
Lauren

PS. Oh ja, and I also take flack every day for spending more time on the PC than with my hubby. Might have to do something about that soon. He's reaching his limit with me.

Good Morning Lauren,

Thank you for reading my post and your kind words.
I do give myself a flower now and then in the form of Darling, I am away for some hours, hasta pronto!= I am going on a little shopping spree, most of the time it is only looking.
During at least 6 months of the year I deliver my oranges to my friends on the coast, this happens every Friday. Now that the season is over we take 1 or 2 days a week for a day trip, film and or eating out.

What a lovely homage, Taetske. Sounds like Michael really deserves it.

Good Morning Beate,

Thank you for reading my post. Michael deserves the homage and a lot more.

Oooh yes, I can sooo relate to the part where you mention Michael moaning that you spend too much on that computer, Taetske!! My Simon says it's in fact more time I spend on 'that machine' than with him #lol
But yes, our better halves are great support :)

Giulia

Good Morning Giulia,

I am happy to hear there are more men out there complaining, I will tell Michael. What would we do without them, that is true.
But what would they do without us, they would be lost in this big, big world and that is a fact.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Yes!! Agree

A big thumbs up to your better half Taetske. Remember to spoil him every time he helps you:))

Good Morning Rika,

Thank you for stopping by.
Here you have proof of my ignorance with technical things. I asked Site Support if they know why my photos are pulled. I start on Words, transfer to draft on one of my websites, put my private photos and transfer to WA Blog. Up till then, all looks normal.
Then I click publish and the photos get pulled, very strange.
I will not forget and bite his earlobe.

greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

How did you fix the photos?

Good afternoon Rika,

First I asked Site Support, we had a couple of messages going back and forth. In the meantime, my better half appeared on the battlefield. Site Support told me I had to edit and then resize. I got to edit but got stuck on resize. With Michaels help, I got to the place of resize and a message came in from Site Support. They send me 2 screenshots of the steps to follow. We were doing that at the same time. Anyhow, as you can see it looks normal now. My previous post on meeting Michelle and Loes also had stretched photos which I have corrected now.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Great. Glad you got it fixed:)

Thats awesome =)

Good Morning Michael,

Thank you for reading my post.
