GDPR, a little nightmare
Have you recovered from the GDPR period? There was so much information that I got more confused by the day. Anyhow, It has been sorted out now with the hope all is well.
Google Analytics is also through a European GDPR Plugin, I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Update your YouTube videos
Then I came across the information that one also had to fine tune the downloaded YouTube videos for GDPR on your website. I had no idea but dived into this information. It is not as difficult as it might seem, here comes the step by step how to:
When you have found a fitting YouTube video for your post you click on Share.bottom right
A window opens and you click on Embed, to the top left
A new window opens and there you check Start video at 0.00 so the people will see the video from the beginning.
You are also presented with 4 options. I uncheck number 1. The top one you really should not check as otherwise it will present the visitor with more videos to watch afterward and that might mean you lose this person as they will get distracted.
This is new
Number 4 explains the following: When you turn on privacy-enhanced mode, YouTube will not store information about visitors on your website unless they play the video.
To tell you the truth I have a problem with this number 4. I found this confusing. I read it multiple times and hope I got it now. If I leave number 4 unchecked does that mean YouTube has the means to see who visits my website and collect data from this person just because I have downloaded a video?
Having a video it is more than likely the visitor will click to look at it, that seems to be the moment YouTube might gather information on your visitor, but only if you have the box checked. It seems that YouTube has added this privacy-enhanced mode recently. It seems you can not protect your visitor completely. However you turn this thing around they will find a way to collect data, be sure of that.
When all is done you click on copy, bottom right and the code at the top will highlight and in that code, you will see the part that says www.youtube-nocookie.com. You save with Ctrl and C.
Then you go to your post on draft, you find the place where the video should appear and then you go to the text version of your draft and paste with Ctrl and V.
Then you go back to visual, look if the video is in the right place and plays.
I have done all my YouTube videos on my 2 websites like this. I hope this has been helpful

I don't think it matters, whether I check this box or not. It's mentioned in my PP

I understand you have it like that in your PP, still, YouTube came up with this option recently. I must confess to me it is a jungle out there and I hope that navigating the wild water I will not shipwreck.

Thanks Sherry, I had a bit of a mixed awesome day, I moved my daughter to her new apartment, and I just was on her so empty room, she's 21, almost 22, and it's time for her to stand on her own, but I have that really craving feeling inside. I know it's going to be alright, she's the fifth leaving home, but also the most naive and too gullible of the girls. I am so glad she has her best friend as a roommate. She can look after her a bit. We worked hard today to settle them in a tidy place.

Oh, I know that feeling when they leave the nest...my oldest, my daughter left to go out on her own a few years ago, which was worrisome to say the least...we thought she could be a bit gullible and naive as well, and some of her friends sure didn't act like any friends I'd want.
But, I guess they have to learn sometime, and she's doing very well with where her life is headed at the moment. She's no longer friends with those so called friends of her past, which I guess she had to decide on her own.
I'm sure your daughter will be fine especially with her best friend with her...plus, she's your daughter, and I'm sure she's quite a smart young lady, just like her mom!

All these details drive me nuts, I think I will not get used to the technical side of making/having a website. It really takes a big effort on my part to somehow understand it all. " Just" writing is a lot easier.

That's interesting post Taetske.
I believe if your website is 'GDPR Compliance', it should be understood that anyone who visits your site is subject the data is tracked and recorded. I believe Youtube has taken the same step to let us know if someone watched the video from Youtube, the personal data of the visitor will be recorded and tracked. The option is fair.
My understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong.

What I understand is that if you leave number 4 unchecked they will immediately gather all the information they can get. Only when you check number 4 they will wait till the visitor views the video.
I find the whole thing confusing but have checked number 4 on each downloaded YouTube video on my websites.

Thank you for sharing this update about the GDPR and YouTube! I didn't realize that we needed to do this with any embedded YouTube videos, either. So, glad you pointed it out, I didn't even think of those, even though I thought I'd read everything to get that GDPR update dealt with, the YouTube videos must have totally flew over my head, lol!
I'll have to go back and check the videos I do have embedded in my posts. I thought I was all set for GDPR, but apparently not, lol. Oh, well, live and learn...Thanks so much for sharing!

In the beginning, I found it rather confusing but am happy it is all done and behind me. All this technical stuff drives me nuts, I prefer the writing part of having a website. When we all made our websites ready for GDPR I think YouTube had not come out with the number 4 option. The wording was also a bit complicated to understand but it is done now. Whenever I upload a new video for my post I take care not to forget doing this.
