Right Time - Wrong Niche?

Like most of you, I have spent many hours working on a website.

Keeping in mind, the goal was to find a niche that will make enough income to allow a desired lifestyle. I’m reconsidering what I have chosen. I based my selection on emotion and my understanding of COURSE 1’S recommendation of choosing a niche that I am passionate about.

However, after many hours spent creating my website, revisiting the appropriate training so it's done correctly, and researching potential affiliate programs, I am RETHINKING and asking myself, DID I MAKE A MISTAKE?

Not that it would be impossible to earn money, but perhaps my "passion" for the right niche superseded my desired outcome. I am usually more strategic in my decisions and look at the end from the beginning of virtually everything I do. Perhaps I got caught up in the excitement and moved faster in heart than I did in mind. After all, it is about creating a profitable BUSINESS and eventually expending minimal hours so you can spend time with your family.

My main goal should have been to find a product that is in high demand but not terribly competitive.

Should I change course and start afresh?

Here is my niche http://storystrength.com/ The heart of StoryStrength.com is to provide quality books and resources that help navigate your children through the early and middle years with stories that build moral strength and sculpt virtues of humility, honesty, courage and commitment.

Hi Lisa,
You have such a creative website and I really like it. How important and honorable to help children build their moral compass. Just keep moving ahead seeking God's will.

Blessings,
Lynn

Thank you Lynn I appreciate the encouraging words!

Try not to over think things
In the future know that all will sell to a potential buyer.
There is nothing that is not considered needed or wanted by someone so nothing is worthless. The only time an idea fails is when we give up on it or seek to please people instead of showing them how much they really need something we have.

enjoy the link and tell me what you think.

Hello Lisa, I do like you website, especially the slideshow. I do not think you have made a mistake. A child's love for reading should start early to develop that love of reading and imagination. The only downside is whether you plan to sell the books or be an affiliate.

Thanks for your input Harvey. Initially it was all about affiliate marketing, that's why I'm here on the WA site. I can register with a number of very good, reputable publishing companies, but now I'm thinking how much could I actually earn on a potential 3-8% commission. I'm frustrated with myself. I would have to choose an online "store" in order to earn money. I don't know why I didn't think this through properly. I am only in Course 2, maybe this is addressed further on, but unfortunately we were making these decisions in Course 1.

It still is about affiliate marketing, and a few other things like identifying your target audience, attracting traffic, finding the right affiliates (e.g. Amazon, ITunes etc.). Yes the commissions are low, but with sufficient traffic and clicks on the affiliates with purchases you will make money. The other source of course is refferals to WA. It not a make quick scheme, but if you are doing something for which you have passion it goes easier. All the best at whatever you decide. Take care
