Sharing a bartering joyous moment
I think this is awesome...
Yesterday, my iPhone 5 contract saw its last day, so it needed renewing; but I wanted to renew it for the iPhone 6 Plus even though the monthly contract was way out of my budget.
Before contacting my provider, I checked the internet for the latest deals and saw that the average price was much lower than what my provider were asking, like $30 less. After comparing, there were no obvious signs why my provider should be asking for so much more.
I didn't want to move provider because they're very good and I've never been without a signal, though I was prepare too if need be.
So, I contacted my provider and this is what was said:
ME: I want to renew my mobile for the iPhone 6 Plus, but after searching the internet I see your prices are way higher than everyone else's.
FEMALE ASSISTANT: Why do you want the iPhone 6 Plus and why not go for the standard iphone 6?
ME: Because I do a lot of research and I'm tired of viewing small print and don't want an ipad or tablet. So, I'd like the iPhone 6 Plus for the same price listed by other providers.
FEMALE ASSISTANT: I can't help you sorry.
ME: Well put me through to someone who can please.
FEMALE ASSISTANT: Okay.
MALE ASSISTANT: Hello, how can I help you?
ME: I repeated my self again...
MALE ASSISTANT: Let's see what we can do
The end result
It took less than five minutes to haggle, I got what I wanted and at the same price everyone else on the internet is charging.
Never Give Up!
I hope you have a blessed day WA family

Thank you Sharon, for the reminder of what we know- but some times forget. Great share.

Well done! In this market trend, it is a buyer's market if you are willing to do your research and are willing to negotiate.

Very good Sharon. My wife is the Price Haggler at our house and she has gotten better prices on several things like Phone Service, Internet and Satellite TV. These companies always try to pull in new clients with special offers and forget about the ones that have been with them for several years. She is like you. She doesn't let them forget. Ha-ha.
Lol it does seem unfair that the old timers get the worst end of the stick :(
