MySQL Databases on Wealthy Affiliate

I not 100% sure so I'm just checking with any of you who might know for certain.

I need a MySQL Database, can this be accessed using Wealthy Affiliate or does it mean I have to host elsewhere?

Thanks in advance and hope you have a great day :)

stumble into your question because i am in the same predicament. I was trying to update multiple product using cpanel mysql admin, and did not find one.

WA doesn't use cpanel, we can use FTP. I PMd you.

This is a late reply, just read your blogs. By now you probably made a decision already. Anyway, with WA you cannot work on a MySQL database like you can with other hosts that provide a CPanel as well as database utilities. If sufficient, you can use a MySql plugin, but I don't know the extent of your task. Have fun!

Ok thx for replying anyway, I didn't know there was a plugin so that's cool

Some things like cart software you need MySQL - i just host elswhere for that and use WA for my WA Stuff . Hope you got it sorted.

Hi yes it got sorted, thanks for wanting to help :)

You can access your database, but only through a plugin in like Adminer (which, from how it has been described to me) is crude.

If you are a technical person who accesses your MySQL database via PHPMyAdmin or the MySQL Workbench as you would with other web hosts, you cannot with WA.

I think I'm realizing that I need another host, seems wasteful when we've got WA don't you think?

Like you, I was initially disappointed to learn about the limitations, but more so because I could not transfer my other PHP sites over to WA servers easily.

But if I were to create a WA affiliate marketing site, I can't really think of anything I'd want to use PHP and MySQL for (so far). As long as I can make money from an affiliate site of purely static web pages with no custom programming or database access, it wouldn't really bother me.

What functionality are you thinking of adding to your affiliate website that requires PHP and your own MySQL database tables?

That's a shame yeah. Maybe Kyle or Carson could give you a definitive answer.

Greetings Sharon!

I've played in the SiteRubix world a bit and in the "Elsewhere" world you spoke of a lot. If you have a plugin or service that requires a separate MySQL database, I don't know how you could make it happen in the SiteRubix world. I'm only able to create & access databases through cPanel on externally hosted sites.

Best of luck with it!

Dennis

This is exactly the answer I needed, many thx Dennis :)

Hi Dennis and Sharon,

I have experienced the same, hence our decision to procure and use our own dedicated server for the new sites we have stood up over the past few months...

The ones I have on siterubix now I will leave for the moment, but I see a day, not too long from now, when all will be migrated over, it does save some hassle...

I am speaking of RSS, MySQL databases, being able to have incoming external connections for updates, or products, use of the cPanel feature, etc.

It is just easier and we have more flexibility...We decided that a dedicated server was the best solution over using a shared host server...We can have fast loading speeds, more control of the sites, databases, and areas of the server we set up...

Another option would be to sell hosting service, but then again, one of the reasons we have our own is NOT to have this, so I doubt seriously we ever would do that...

I wish Sharon the same!

Dave : )

Hello Sharon,

What I understand from support SiteRubix is that when we use the "WPBackup" plugin, we can backup the FTP part of our site and also the SQL part of our site...

Don't know if this is helpful info and like Bryan says: If you need hands on access you better choose another host...

Grtz,
Bert

It's looking like I need another host, oh well lol :)

I'veel subscribed myself to another one also this week... ($35 for domain name .com + Hosting of a wordpress host for a year)

It is not worth the trouble I thought... ;-)

That is a really great price! Can't go wrong...our solution ends up being more expensive up front-wise (our own dedicaed server) , but likely we can host several hundred sites with no consequence on page loading times, etc...Good on you...
