I am creating my first website and I wondering how to add text and images to my homepage

I've been through lesson 1 but I don't see where it deals with homepage design.

Not in lesson 1. You need to take them all in order, it's covered down the track.

Have you been through the lessons? It's all covered in them. Just start with course 1, lesson 1 and take it from there.

hank you for steering me in the right direction MmmmBalf now I just wondering where I need to go to add text and Images to my homepage

Thank you for steering me in the right direction MmmmBalf now I just wondering where I need to go to add text and Images to my homepage

I'm also wondering howto access the homepage in order to customize.
I've looked in the pages menu and in the is me Privacy, and about me pages buy no homepage section?

The home page is edited as part of the theme, it doesn't appear in your list of pages. This is very confusing to most people, who end up creating another home page. That can lead to problems in the menu and not being able to navigate back to the home page once it's left, since the original theme home page is still there at the root url.

To edit the home page, go to Appearance and click on your Theme name settings. That should have the options of what to do with your home page - it may be called Presentation Page. The Presentation Page will look exactly as it did when you chose your theme, including any image that was shown, until you edit it.

IMO it's better to edit the presentation page to how you want it rather than creating another page and setting it as the home page.

As Michelle said, if you want your presentation page to be static, you will need to disable the blog from it and set another page as the blog page.

Hi there :) Congrats on getting started!
Are you following the Online Entrepreneur Certificate, provided to you here on WA? If not, I strongly suggest you do, as Kyle and Carson will guide you through step by step on how to set up your website. Simply press the green "get started here" button on the top left on your WA site

Have a lovely day!

Cheers
Karina

Dear Karina,
Thank you for this message, I follow the getting started lessons from 1-9 and was building my website as I was following the lesson, it was after lesson 9 that I got stuck

Complete lesson 10 and as you are a premium member, you will be able to go on to the next course

Congrats on getting your site started :)

Not all sites need a home page. In wordpress the home page is actually the default blog page, so if you want to have a homepage that is always the home page, you will need to create a new page for the blog.

If this is what you want to do, create the page (call it blog or whatever you want) then go to Appearance - customise. A new menu will open up. Down the bottom of this will be a choice to set the home page. Click this, then set the front page with whatever page you want as your home page and set the page you want for your blog as your posts page.

If you do want a home page, think of it as the shop window. It's job is to let people know what they might expect to find inside your site, welcome people to the site and then give them the information. Later on, once you have the site going and you feel confident you might want to include a suggestion to sign up for a newsletter if you are going to have one.

Thank you Michelle, that is much appreciated I'll think I'll set it up as a shopwindow
