Hey Lacy,

Checked your profile hoping to discover your website URL but you have not filled in your Follow Me on section. Therefore (sadly) I could not view your website in order to discover which plugin you are using to create your popup, in order to offer you a suggestion.

I have put my website URL on the Follow Me now. The website is allthingscrockpot.com. I am using wordpress popup maker plugin. Thanks for responding to me. I would be thrilled if you can help!

I forgot.. it is in the Kitchen Stuff tab on the menu and it is the Nano towel tab. The other tab works fine. It is an Amazon link. The Nano Towel link is a clickbank one. Don't know if that's what the problem is.

You MIGHT have to manually insert the target="_blank" code to the link in order to have it open in another window.

Here is a tutorial that may offer you the help you seek: Your website is showing as Connection is Not Secure (see screen print below). Here is a tutorial to help you to fix that issue: Hope this helps you.

Thank you so very much! I will do the tutorials and see what happens. My day today is filled with a grandchild's birthday so I will update you after I get a chance to get back to this. Again, thank you!

Hi Trish,
I have secured my website now. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I have realized that the issue with my one popup was caused by a popup blocker. I "white listed" it and it is working fine now. I added a note under that link to "white list" my site in order for that link to work. I think the fact that it was a clickbank link had something to to with it because the amazon links all worked well without any problems. Again, thanks for responding to my question. I appreciated the help you offered.

My auto-respond provider has 35 new people on my email list. How can I see how much traffic has accessed my web site?

I believe you can install a plugin like jetpack which will give you an all round look on your traffic. Or you can use google webmaster tool. :)

Hi,

You have two sources to view the traffic for your domain name (website). You need to add Google Analytics to your site and Google Webmaster Tools, these two resources keep track of the traffic going to your website pages.

If you do not know how to add Google Analytics to your website you can add the following on your browser as Kyle going through the steps to add Analytics to your website. Add the following into your browser to add Google Webmaster Tools. I hope this helps.

Best wishes,

George

Thanks! That will help a lot!

I want to have my ebook available for free download. It is too large for the media library (41 MB). What can I do?

Try creating a PDF out of it and then zip it. That should reduce the size to something manageable.

Marion, thanks for your help again! I tried to compress the file and it wasn't even close to being small enough. It has a lot of pictures in it. I have decided to host it in an Amazon s3 file. I am in the process of setting that up now. I am hoping to have this taken care of soon. It has taken me so long to learn enough to get this far! I know I couldn't do this without the WA community and their help! Again ..... thanks!

You could open an Amazon s3 account for free and create a 'bucket' where you basically upload the PDF to the s3 account which will generate a link for you so people can click the link and download it straight away. You just have to remember to put the settings as 'public' in the bucket settings.

Thanks so much for this info. I didn't know anything about a s3 account. I will look into this and let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your help!

No worries-let me know if you need any help with it because it can be a little confusing at first.

You are right! It is somewhat confusing. I opened an account. created a bucket and uploaded my pdf with no problems. After that, it is quite confusing. I don't know where/how to give the public access. There is a large amount of info in permissions but I don't know how to decipher it. Do I want to use the log file? I have not seen anything about a link to use for access. I really appreciate your help!

Ok, so when you go to your bucket section,
1. click on the doc you uploaded.
2.You will notice to the left of your doc, there is a little box that you can tick (see example 1) Do that. (see example 2)
Above your doc you will see 3 tabs: 'Upload, Create Folder, Actions'.
In order for people to be able to download your doc you will need to click the 'Actions' tab to see the pull down menu and click 'Make Public'. This is crucial otherwise people won't be able to download your file! (see example 3)
3.To the right of your doc you will see 3 tabs that say 'None, Properites, Transfer'. (see example 4).
4.Click on 'Properties'.
This should bring up the link you will use to direct people to download your ebook (see example 5). Copy and paste this link and use it in your autoresponder/lead capture tool (eg copy and paste link into a 'download now' button for your subscribers).
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions. :)

Liz, I finally got the Amazon s3 account set up and got the ebook uploaded. I could not have gotten this far without your advice about the s3 account. My website is still in need of more content, but if you're interested it is http://www.allthingscrockpot.com. I checked out your website. I was impressed and it made me smile.
My husband and I used to own a new age bookshop in Richmond Virginia. We had tarot classes and of course, many tarot books and decks for sale along with many other subjects. I like encountering people with the same interests in different realms. We had the shop for 14 years and finally got burned out on retail, so we sold it and went into Real Estate. The shop is still going. Nice having you as a friend!

Oh wow another example of the Universe and its resonate ways haha! Like attracts like. So glad I could be of help to you.
Your website is looking good so far. Glad to share the journey with you. :)

Is it a free download? Is it a PDF? If not what file type?

You have a few options:

- I doubt if file compression (zip or otherwise) will reduce 41 MB PDF to less than 8 MB. But try it anyway.
- you could host the file somewhere else and provide a link
- you might divide the PDF into several parts and have them download part 1, with a promise to email them the other parts of the book over a certain time period.

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it. I tried compression and you were right...it won't reduce it enough. I have decided to host the file in an Amazon s3 account. I didn't want to break it up since I had put soooo much work into getting it together. I didn't want to go back and start over! Again thank you very much for replying to my question. I don't think I could pull this off without the WA community and their help!

Lacy, you're very welcome. I'm glad to see that Liz has been walking you through the hosting at Amazon; specifically the S3 setup, bucket, and how to find the public link. The nice thing about Amazon is that you are only charged for what you use per month. If usage is low, then this can be just pennies. It's a good solution.

All the best to you!
:)
Fran

It is also free for the first year!
