Yeah, right.

I did have to stop working on my site today though.

One of my clients had her site go down this week.

So, today, I had to spend on someone else's site.

Fortunately, I had rebuilt the site around the first of the year on the free siterubix platform. I chose a new theme for them as their theme had become obsolete. (It was a free theme and they have now been ported over to a Premium Theme that is well supported and just happens to be responsive)

I did need to carefully go through the site and make sure that everything was current and ready to go. Then....

Change the nameservers and wait for them to propagate.

Backup the new site while that was happening (YES, I did use the All In One Migration plugin even though some people in WA have a problem with it)

Then it was time to create a new site on a URL I own ( the nameservers had propagated while I was doing the backup)

Install the migration plugin on the new site and restore the backup file to the new site.

Everything ported over wonderfully.

I then downloaded and installed the Better Search and Replace plugin and ran the URL against the URL.siterubix.com to make sure that all of the instances of siterubix were gone from the content. It replaced only 3 instances of the old siterubix site.

Next I enabled site speed and https. Then changed the Google Analytics to https and deleted the old http in Google Console, installed the https in Google Console and verified the site using the Google Analytics option. Poof. Google is happy with the site.

Then enable the sitemaps in All In One SEO and submit the sitemap to Google Console and added the Google Analytics code to the AIOSEO plugin.

Next, I removed the Better Search and Replace plugin and disabled the AIO migration plugin until I need it again to do a backup.

Since I was updating, I got rid of the old Feedburner RSS feed, exported all of the email addresses from that database, created a new list in Mailchimp and imported the email list. Then I set up a new email RSS feed from the Mailchimp system.

Whew.

Yup, busy day. I think that I now have https://companiondogobedience.... ready to rock and roll for the rest of eternity and my client can continue to do business on her new updated website.

Patting myself on the back.

Impressive list of achievement; you make it appear so simple, but I bet it was not at all easy.

Well praise the LORD blessing in Jesus Name

Thanks for sharing!

I'm still in the beginning stages so Feedburner RSS feed and AIO migration is foreign to me and I said whew too....lol. But I did check out the website and it looks pretty good.

I didn't realize how much time it takes to create websites but going through the course and knowing that there's more to it than just using the tools provided to us makes me appreciate WA even more.

I tip my hat off to you Craig for taking care of your client.

Thanks for sharing, good post.

Good experiene Craig.
