The Wind in my Sails
I finished another piece recently. I had to sandwich it in between a couple of other projects. (See my last Post and I'll Share my Christmas shopping experience later)
This piece is special because I made it from wood that I harvested and slabbed from a tree that fell during Hurricane Matthew. It has taken 2 full years to be ready to work into a project.
Now that the wood is mostly dry, I decided a maritime theme would be good for the first project with this wood. A Wooden Sailboat Wall Hanging seemed to be the right solution.
If you would like to read about the entire build you can visit WoodworkingWarrior.com and you will see the post at the top of the blog roll or the Project page whichever you prefer.
Here is the finished Wooden Sailboat Wall Hanging. Overall dimensions are 54 inches long and about 65 inches tall.
I think it came out pretty nice. What do you think?

I think that’s beautiful! You have real talent. It must be satisfying to create your own pieces like that.
Excellent ! I'm the creative one in our family and I give it an A+. Unique dimensions and shiny finish. Like the rudder. Very realistic. The lighter brown trim for the sails nicely offsets the rest of the ship. Looks like the pole in the middle of the sails is so that they can turn in the wind. Nice grain in the bow of the boat and the rudder...........Scotty B ♫
