Around the Fire
At the end of November (Thanksgiving actually). I put my skills to work creating a couple of wood benches to accompany the firepit near home.
These were the first (hopefully of many) projects that I created from wood that I harvested myself.
In November of 2017 I came across about 25 feet of Yellow Pine that had fallen in the back woods of a property my partner owns. I created a jig and purchased a BIG chainsaw to turn this wood into boards. You can read about that here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/labman/blog/does-a-tree-fall...
After letting the wood air dry for a year, it was finally to a point where I could massage it into something useful.
The intent was to create some rustic benches with live edges to share time around the fire. They are strong and stable. The joinery is basic but adequate for the task.
I think they turned out pretty nice.
What do you think?

Perfect...creating something like that takes time but it must feel like a real sense of accomplishment and pride.

Nice! I love the rustic look and it's nice to make something with your on hands that you can use.
