Alaskan Chainsaw Mill Update
I've been busy in the driveway creating an upgrade to my Chainsaw mill clamps. It seems that 800 board feet was the limit to the pine clamps that I have been using since last fall.
I know that some of you were following my progress with the Alaskan Chainsaw mill Jig that I created so I created some plans and have them on my Woodworking Warrior site.
You can find the post here if you are interested in making one of your own. https://woodworkingwarrior.com/alaskan-sawmill-project-revis...
There is also a download link if you want to print out the drawings.
I'd love to hear from any of you that do give this a try and get your feedback.
Here's the finished jig with the new clamps.
For those of you that are interested, this is a Stihl 661C Chainsaw with a 32" bar. Maximum cut width is 23 1/2".

Hi Labman,
That’s a big chainsaw. Huge. I agree to disagree with Stevev-A’s comment, lol. I don’t need one cause I know I’d kill myself.
But if I ever did need one. I’d buy that one. It has a long saw on it. Wow, I’m used to seeing shorter ones.
Good job.
Kindly,
Becky
Hello Craig!
As a 30+ year Millwright I can relate to your skill and ingenuity and ability to adjust until it is just what you need. Great website! Very interesting to me!
Thanks for the post!

My wife just bought a chainsaw for her and my son to cut branches we find laying around into firewood for our backyard firepit.
We live in Milwaukee and houses are fairly close. Close enough to hear neighbors yelling in an argument.
So, I am thinking too bad I didn't see your blogs before my wife bought our backyard electric chainsaw. We could have bought one like you have!
Very fine posts.
The Stihl gas chainsaws are nice but if you are only cutting small branches, the electric one will probably do the trick for you. Keep the chain sharp and it should be fine.
