...will I be successful online and when?

OR

If I work at this, how long will it take me to achieve success?

These are some very common questions I get, so I thought I would spend a few minutes explaining what the “process” of success looks like and some expectations you can have.

There are some really obvious things I have learned over the years in terms of those who will achieve success and those that don’t.

I think that if you are sitting in the boat wondering when success is going to strike or if you are just getting rolling and these are questions that have been possibly preventing you from moving forward, what I am going to tell you will be insightful and perhaps quite revealing.

Success is more patient than you…

The only time I see someone fail within the online world is when they quit...prematurely of their success. As we are building a business, sometimes we hit a crossroad or a difficult time when something doesn’t make sense, something “breaks”, or something simply is confusing the heck out of us.

The easiest way out is to quit. The more difficult way is to push on.

Guess which option MOST people choose? Quitting.

Guess who ends up reaping all of the rewards of a successful business? The Pushers.

So be patient, give success time and realize that it is not going to happen overnight.

Working for a MONTH really hard won’t lead to success, Working for a YEAR Will.

Keeping on this topic, most people have run into their fair share of GURU scams/offers claiming instant riches. Perhaps that is why some folks think that success within a month is a viability, when in fact it is not.

Success takes time.

Before you create a thriving business, you must first work on building a foundation for that success to build off of. I always say, you cannot build a skyscraper on a mud foundation. The same as you cannot build a very successful online business without a website, without quality content, without rankings, and without an understanding of how to do all of this properly.

It is at that point that you have a foundation, that you can start building out your website for success.

Success is not on a "clock", the determining factor is YOUR actions and YOUR hard work.

It happens at different rates for different people. Every niche is different, every website is different, and each and every one of us is different in our very own unique way. This is the cool part of business. We can all take a seemingly parallel path to creating a business, but very different at the same time and create a ridiculous amount of success.

I personally took 3+ months before I experienced any income online, by month 6 I was creating income with consistency, and by the year mark I was earning what would be deemed as a decent full time income.

Here I sit, 13 years later of being full time online...I am sure glad I didn’t put a clock or a time limit on my success. I simply said, I am going to achieve success...whatever it takes and I drew out my path to get there. Anyone can do what I am doing, that is what I find so crazy...but very few are willing to give themselves enough time to do it.

Treat business like a CAREER and it will become one.

I want to try a new venture! This is a new opportunity! Let’s give this Internet thingy a whirl. Those are the statements that scare the crap out of me.

The reason. People saying those are coming into this with the wrong idea.

This is the real world, this is business, and the online business world is no different than the offline business world in that (a) there is very little overhead to getting a business up and running (b) there is far more opportunity online than offline, 2.8 billion people in fact (c) there is no limit to your potential. You set your own goals.

The problem is that if you walk into the online world like it is some “opportunity” or some “venture” you are creating, it instantly tells me that you are going to take the “try until it dies” approach. Nobody has created a successful business without treating it like a long term BUSINESS.You are in business. For yourself. Treat it that way.

So when will the “S” word happen for you?

Only YOU can determine that. What I can tell is you is that it CAN and it will happen if you dedicate yourself, work hard, and remain persistent until/after you achieve your goals.

What I can tell you is that you have absolutely everything you need here at Wealthy Affiliate other than the YOU part.

Make today your day that you commit you your future, one that is not a month out or a few months out...but a year out and that will lead to several years within the online space.

Rooting for you and your inevitable success. ;)

Hey Kyle:) I just asked you about this in a PM. Thanks for pointing me to your blog post. I already have a niche in mind I just need to research it to see if it is too broad or specific. I'm not just building a career here but a lifestyle from the ground up. I want to create the world I'm happy living in and it starts with a great foundation and patients. I'm so grateful for you and this platform and all the great people in it.

Kyle, I totally agree with your post, there are often times most people underestimated the power of generating legitimate money online, that includes me "in the past", I'm glad I'm willing to spend the money to join as premium and become your true disciple and other TOP PROs within the community, thanks again, with gratidude

Desperately needing to make a sustainable full time income

You are going to be hanging out with top experts within the industry here at WA and there is going to come a time where you are one of those!

This is great. It’s real talk and I do prefer that to sugar coating. Plus if everyone coming in reads it, they have the option to figure out if they want to be a pusher or a 9 - 5’er.

I appreciate this discussion. I knew I took the right path.

We don't like to sugar coat here, that is why we are the most respected company in the industry. We not only tell it like it is, we provide you with the proper education and an all-inclusive platform that you need to create and grow your business online. :)

Thank you for the inspiration. I am having to break from progresd due to certain disruptive circumstances that I must priortize. The universal forces are certainly not making progress any more simple than the In Time persistance it takes to be sucessful at the build. Learn, Work, Entertain, and Earn is surely at the speed of franklin not Peter ; ) employing the GRIT-CESS mindset is the key to not resulting with failure. The FOCUS remains the HEART MAP motivation to keep on keeping on as slow as need be. Rushing will only lead to an exhausting crash. Patience and visualizing that the goals have already become the greater achievement...retrains my brain to keep clicking for more action steps to success...

Thanks for that lesson Kyle, I know you are correct, I just hope I can be a "pusher" myself. I'm trying to be patient and have the "can do" attitude. I certainly enjoy learning - something I've always enjoyed. I'm committing to this as long as health permits. I know my husband keeps making comments about me always being at my computer - but he just doesn't understand that one day he will be very glad I'm doing this. - I look forward to those days where I "prove myself to him". - Shirley

I make every day my day to commit, maybe too much time. Even when I shut my computer down, or trying to get some sleep, I am thinking. I need to learn how to let it go for a few hours. Hard if not impossible to do huh? I guess I like what I am doing.

It is hard to let go because there is so much to do and we think we're going to miss something.
However, we need to be realistic and give our brains a rest at times so that we are ready to tackle the next day.
It has been proven that you become useless if you don't have regular breaks and your peak performance dwindles rapidly.

So take small breaks during the day, and then make sure you get a good night's rest.

TA, thanks so much for the advice. You are absolutely right. It's all about discipline. .

TA, thanks for the follow by the way.

Maurice, yes indeed, you are hooked. Welcome to the WA Club!
Bless You,
Sam and Deb

You're welcome Maurice

Absolutely Awesome Kyle ,
Definitely Success comes after hard work , persistence , discipline and sweat and this the savor also will be great as for me I`ve decided by all mean a I`ll die some day for sure but not as a quitter , a Broke ,A Looser but as a Winner

God Bless WA

Truly said! It does make sense when you suggest that online business should also be treated as offline business. I think, perhaps, there are very few who would look at this as a sole business model to bank upon and hence work on this as a secondary interest. This leads to lesser time and effort given to this business model resulting in its ultimate demise, prematurely.

I say if building a website and making money from it was easy then everyone would be doing it. Be glad it's a challenge for most and they don't want to do it. Just leaves more adventures for those of us that have drive and determination to make it happen!! Anyone with me!!

I'm with you, the more effort you put in the better the long term rewards :)

Totally, but I think people jump in thinking its easy because the other "Gurus" tell them that. Im in the tshirt biz and literally every tshirt site tells people that they can open a shop with no design experience. Its this type of message that leads people astray. They may not need experience to write "I love my dog" on a shirt, but the minute they release that shirt into the market they are competing with every person who does have design experience. So its a bit of a set up for them.

When something is easy, a necessity, or thoughtless, everyone does it. Like breathing.

When something makes people uncomfortable, usually as the result of having to learn something new or do something new, then you are going to have an order of restraint from folks and thus, many people don't.

We can all achieve success online. Not all of us will, and that is just how it works because many people will simply give up WAY too early.

Very nicely done. I feel that I've finely come upon a site that is not a scam promising instant riches with little effort. I like the fact that people in the chat room, yourself, Nathaniel all say that this takes work, a lot of work; however if 'we' are willing to put forth the effort then we will reap the rewards! Time to go premium and get this ball rolling. Thanks for the patience extended to me while I looked deeper into WA to make my decision and I look forward to many years of interaction with all of you, both in guidance and inspiration!

You have come across a site that is not only going to give you the most comprehensive set of tools, training and support to build a business online, you are going to get the "reality" in a world that tries to sell you on instant riches.

The fact of the matter is, if you are realistic about the process of building a business online, that is exactly what you will build. ;)

I look forward to working with you Mike!
