When it comes to promoting WA through PPC, most people are definitely "inside the box" thinkers. By this I mean, they typically go after some of the most common and most competitive keywords out there.

Some of the most common keywords are...

  • Work at Home
  • Make Money Online
  • Build a Website
  • Internet Marketing
  • Affiliate Marketing

Don't get me wrong, you can absolutely convert these and if you have a relevant "flow" between your keywords, your website, and you promotions of WA, you can be very successful (lucrative) with your campaigns.

It doesn't take anything more than a little research to come up with some creative ideas and by research, I mean just checking out what other blogs/websites there are out there online.

What are others promoting as a viable way to making money online?

You can capitalize on these keywords.

Here are an example "idea" that I quickly found doing a search online in Google and after checking out a few of the websites in the search results.

Here is a screen capture from one of those sites...

People are looking to "sell" their old stuff online as a way of generating revenue. These people are definitely interested in "making money" money and could absolutely benefit from the help here at Wealthy Affiliate.

People are looking for information on how to sell pretty much anything, from Amazon products to their used household items...to art...to well, ANYTHING.

Here are some example phrases that people would type into Google:

how do I sell ______ online
how to sell ______ online
how to sell ______ on the internet
can I sell ______ online
best way to sell ______ online

Replace the blank ________ with any type of product and do a little keyword research on it. Take advantage of "sell" keywords alone could easily be a full time WA affiliate business.

You can capitalize on all sorts of keyword phrases and there are folks that are far along in the Customer Purchase Lifecycle (they know what they want and if you can help them, they will join WA at a very high rate.

What are the different types of people that are looking to earn more money?

You can capitalize on these keywords as well with your PPC campaigns (as well as SEO).

To do this I use the alphabet soup technique on the keywords. Think of all the occupations out there.

And then you can dig through the alphabet using this technique. For example, here are a list of "c" occupations that came up when I did a Google Instant search.

Right here alone you have an idea for 100's of ad groups (as you walk through the alphabet on this one search phrase) that you could use to effectively promote Wealthy Affiliate. Think of all of the occupations in the world that you can leverage with this one strategy alone.

These are some common phrases folks are searching:

how to make more money as a _________
earn more money as an _________
how to earn extra money as a _________
ways to earn more money as a _________
how much money does a _________ make

WA benefits EVERYONE that is looking to earn extra money online and this is a really easy way to extend your reach into many different relevant audiences and create targeted, high converting PPC campaigns. This strategy can absolutely be used in the SEO world as well!

And believe it or not, lots of people are either bored, lonely, or looking for a hobby.

Although you may have lots of hobbies, lots of folks don't...in particular those that are retired and have made work their life. When they leave, they end up with an entire day to fill up and what better way to do so than to create a business online doing something you are passionate about.

Every thought of the keywords one might type in when...

  • They are bored.
  • They are lonely and looking for something to do.
  • They want to find a new hobby.
  • Looking for something to do in their city.
  • A way to meet new people.

This audience will typically type in search terms like:

things to do when you are bored at ________
things to do when you are bored in ________
what should I do when I am bored
how to find a new hobby
lists of the top hobbies
things to do in ________ (city)
what is there to do in ________ (city)
how to meet people _______
...etc

This audience is also a very large one. There are 2 billion people online and the reason sites like Facebook are so successful is because people have so much idle time.

What if you could give them something fun and productive to do within the online world that they could be proud of (and earn money on the process)? This is another significant audience that could truly benefit from the services/community here at WA! ;)

Remember, a successful PPC campaign is a relevant one. Regardless of whether you are targeting people on Microsoft Ads, Google Adwords, Facebook or another medium you should never lose sight of this.

You have a REAL human on the other end of every transaction. If you can take something they are looking for and help them find a solution to it, you are going to be very success.

If someone is looking to "how to make more money as a cook" and you deliver them a page on your website that gives them some ideas as to how they can do this (they can create a "cooking" blog here at Wealthy Affiliate with full training, tools, resources, etc) and turn this into a viable business online, you are going to make referrals.

Multiply this by all the keywords out there and you have your sure path to a successful affiliate business!

Before I leave you today, I would love for you to offer your insight into creative ways/ideas that you have targeting audiences and keywords? I would love to hear your feedback within the comments as to some creative ways you could create a PPC campaign for the purpose of promoting WA (in the same way that I have done).

For sure you can target much more easier with fb ads, if you know how to build custom audience.
I used google ads, but google its not reliable when it came to fine tuning audience.
For example, i target only usa, but it show my ads to japan users (no i didn't setup anything wrong, their support told me that it might happen).
But problem with facebook is that people are so mean, can report your ads and then trouble with fb starts.

PPC seems like a way to focus your audience. Think about it, we already are making websites that focus on affiliates; however, we have a specific audience that really want to know this information and it’s our job to find out who exactly they are and how to share the message. Great stuff!

Great video! I am still learning and much of what I write about is
learning and practice in connection to create a successful online business.
I use my experience from other jobs and meetings with people to find my ideas.
I think alphabet soup is a great way to find relevant keywords.

I was trying to think of things that I already have a bit of knowledge on, and I actually just found a group that I'm pretty sure will payoff, and a friend of mine used to do the exact same thing. It has ZERO competition in Jaaxy.

So I can write it without any research at all, because I used to work in his store when he had appointments, and I started selling product online for his business.

This idea should be interesting:

Great idea

I was writing a post recently on how Local businesses can benefit from learning to build a website with Wealthy Affiliate or compare and contrast local Website building course with Wealthy Affiliate.

My local website building course is 350 dollars which is same as WA but WA offer more such as hosting, keyword search, community support and feedback.

Making money is on so many people's mind.We got the formula right here at WA. The training is here to help us reach out to the audience and bridge that gap.

PPc is exciting stuff. Just looking at the abdunance of keywords to use in our campaigns really gives us all an opportunity to help others and in turn build our business.

My favorite part about PPC is that I can say rank this Google. I don't need you.

Yeap. I hear you. Hope your campaign is going well?

I use Bing and Facebook. Bing has a $100. coupon when you get started. I learn a lot burning through that.

I wrote a post on Bing PPC and the $100. coupon link is in there if you want to take a look.

If you are just getting going with PPC contact me anytime.

Thanks Barry, I am going to check it out. Much Appreciated

By the way, I am existing member with Bingads, do I still qualify for the coupon.

I think you may if you have not used it. I would certainly find out. Let me know how it turns out.

I tried but no joy. Will try again later.Left a comment on your site.Enjoyed the read

Sometimes it takes a few hours or a day to hit your account. Unless they said no deal.

I tried to look up your page link the page is not found message came up. I would be interested in looking at the page.

This is so awesome! I am glad we had this discussion because I have been thinking inside the box. Thanks Kyle!

I thought about a new post. I went over to bing and put in those keywords "how to make more money as a ____", I saw the one for a hair stylist. My mother used to be a hair stylist for over 20 years. I can surely help someone in that field earn more money.

Looking forward to finding some good keywords "outside the box"!

I am trying to find creative ideas with Kyle's tips but I found out that the traffic is very low for most of the keywords. it's hard to find the creative keywords with more than 100 traffic. Is that a problem?

Are there tips to find high traffic keywords for PPC?

Use bing keyword planner tool if you are specially writing articles just for bing ads.

Thank you for sharing this resource!

Unless you have a very high traffic website, PPC is generally a waste of money. :)

I don't think so. PPC can bring traffic and referrals to the website regardless there is already a high traffic or not.

@RKiuttu,
I'm totally agree with you. Actually those website who have less traffic, they can get lots of traffic and conversion through PPC campaigns. However, both high and low traffic website can get benefits from PPC.

Research. Dig them out. I don't know of an easy way to find them but I know that they are out there.

I review some off the wall programs that get searched and traffic then link my ads to some of those reviews and the keyword costs are very low.

Keep looking you'll find the keywords. Use more than keyword tools because that's what every body else is using. Which means all are competing for the same words.

Good luck.

Great "outside the box" ideas from Kyle.

It seems that many people here are wasting more money on PPC than making money with it. That's the reason I haven't done it so much yet. I have just used 4-5€ and didn't get any referrals but some clicks.

I plan to learn the process first. Then as I learn how it works, I will try lots of different kind of techniques and publish lots of campaigns.

I can do for example 10 PPC pages. Then if 9 of them fails and 1 succeeds, it's the success. Because then I can delete those 9 and put more power on that 1.

If I fail with all 10 pages, then I just analyze why they didn't work and do the better next time.

What do you think about my plans?

sounds a good plan but a PPC for 10 pages will cost you a lot of money. If you create just 1 page with excellent high-quality content, PPC will work

I would start slowly with a campaign or two using very low cost keyword. Start slowly and learn.

I would not worry about impressions or clicks but work at first to get familiar with the platform. Once you have it mastered then go for the gold.

PPC is good to me. I have been using it for about 6 months.

Also make sure you pick up the $100. coupon. Here's a link on a post I wrote. It's a hundred free dollars.

http://freedtosoar.com/what-is-bing-ppc

Thank you for the ideas! Can I use that coupon even though I have already used Bing ads but not any coupon before?

I do not see why not as long as you have not used coupons.

I find PPC quite interesting, I see the potential in what Kyle is delivering,

I've been doing PPC slowly. Once I added my tacking code, I did get referrals.

I do think I need to work on being more relevant. As for the creativity side, OMG, um yeah don't get me going. Stay at home parents whether a father or mother, teachers who love to instruct people, pastors who want to get their word out, Politics oh wow, people can share their opinions, those are just a few that I thought about, but I can sit down and think of a whole bunch of avenues, side roads or whatever ways that would love to benefit from WA.

One thing that I really find exciting about PPC is that you don't have to limit yourself. I get that you have to be relevant and that's what I'm trying refine through practice.

Thanks Kyle!
