Google Panda 22 Refresh - Coming this Week
Last week many websites had seen soem drastic changes to their search rankings, but Google assured that this was not a Panda refresh.
Google makes over 500 changes to their search algo each and every year, so these updates happen quite frequently and every update that is run is not always classified as a Google Panda update.

To answer this you need to answer one question, "what is Google looking for?". They definitely are not looking for manufactured content created for an algorithm, as the Panda updates continue to evolve they are focusing more and more on quality content and user experience. If you make this your focus within all your content creation activities, you will only continue to benefit from these updates.Quality content, user engagement, and continual content creation is your surest path to long term SEO rankings and success with Google. Don't let the idea of Panda be a stressful experience, build your sites for your user not what you think a search engines wants.

I am so glad you posted this Kyle. One of my sites completely disappeared and was gone from Google for about 3 days. Having been taught to be patent by many members here when something drastic happens I patently waited to see if it would come back. I am happy to say it came back to page 4 today. It was on the top of page 2 when it disappeared. This makes me feel better because I do believe if the content was not original like I have been taught here, it would not have came back at all. If they do run an update I feel I might survive now.
Absolutely, this fluctuations will happen and sometimes they have to "revert" changes they have made when they see the adverse effects that happen on the rankings. You can't worry about short term moves by Google, your goal is longer term success and that should remain your focus. Keep doing what you are doing and working to do it well.
See, now this kind of support and reassurance from a professional who knows what he is talking about just does not happen anywhere else I have found on the net. Kyle, I know I have said thanks many times, just know I really do appreciate your comments, they help keep me focused.
No problem Shawn, any time. If you continue working towards building something great, something that is user centric (not search engine centric), then Google and other search engines are going to be chasing after your content. Keep doing what you do!

I still believe that the only people that benefit from this are Google and their advertisers, not marketers.
All my sites are quality sites but still Google likes to throw them around and drop them for a couple of months down to page 3, like it did last time.
Will have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.
Creators of quality content benefit from this Neil...people selling stuff to people typically do not. There is a difference between selling and marketing and I do think that many people here are going to greatly benefit from this update.
Don't fear the Panda, do things that the Panda likes and follow what your users want, not a search engine and you will be much better off.
one of my sites got semi- de-indexed. basically the homepage is not ranking anymore...but other pages of the site are ranking well. Any ideas on how I could resolve this?
You could try writing an article and driving it directly to the homepage. Also, you could try making some content updates/improvements on your homepage. Both of these things can help you get reindexed.
Perhaps some social sharing is in order for your website as well.
I do have links from articles pointing back to my homepage, but I will add some new ones.

Yes you are very correct. Actually if you the mozcast, then the temp was really very high somewhere close to Monday, in the previous week. I thought it was an update, but then searchengineland confirmed its not an update.
Yeah, some folks here were adversely affected by this update, but some benefited from it. It was a small update that must have affected such a low percentage of the search results. WIll be interesting to see the Panda update, but typically if you are creating quality things go unchanged or are quite positive through that event.
No problem Julie. Just wanted to let people know, but if you are going about your content the right way and the way we teach here you should not be negatively effected by this.

Thanks for the reminder! We work hard at Quality Content. It helps that we have chosen niches we are familiar with and have a passion for. This makes it easier to think of many facets of our niches. This has been a good month for us. Google likes our larger sites. We are still in the process of converting some of them to Word Press so the user experience willl even be greater.
That is great George, keep progressing the way you are and Google will continue to favor your websites.
