Google is Sunsetting it’s Keyword Tool - Does it Affect Jaaxy?

Back in June, Google officially announced that it was going to “sunset” the Google External Keyword tool. This is a sad day for all of those folks that have been using this tool and keyword tools that rely on this external data.

You can see this within their tool (which is still live).

They are replacing this system with their Google Adwords “keyword planner” tool which is accessibile within your Google Adwords account.

Google tends to phase out programs that are FREE and that serve no value to their business. The felt that they would earn more revenue (from advertising) if folks were required to be within a Google Adwords account in order to capture keyword data. They are probably right.

Does this Impact Jaaxy in Any Way?

I have seen a lot of concern from Jaaxy users about whether or not this was going to impact them and impact the search results within Jaaxy.

This will have ZERO impact on Jaaxy rankings and this is completely irrelevant to Jaaxy rankings as it is Google’s external tool. Some “low end” keyword research tools relied on this data for their search data, but we do not rely on scrapped Google keyword traffic data.

So again, if you have Jaaxy you will not be impacted by the decommissioning of this tool, in fact this is good news for Jaaxy users.

You officially have less competition. Anyone that was using the Google External Tool or that was using keyword tools that relied on this (what I think was bogus data anyways) are no longer going to have the same limited capabilities to do research. You still do and you will continue having a competitive advantage in respect to keyword and market research by having Jaaxy.

If you don’t already have a Jaaxy.com account, you are missing out on the competitive advantage that it will offer you. You can set-up your free account (and get free searches) here.

Hope this adds some clarity to the Google External Tool situation and if you do have any further questions about this, let me know.

Ok I was like WHAT I just got started with using keywords in Jaaxy, WHAT Jaaxy will not be effected great I can breath in breath out lol. Thank you for letting us know have a great day. Theresa

Yeah, deep breaths! Everything is going to be OK and the data or usability at Jaaxy is in no way affected by this.

Thank you for giving us this info it will come in handy to all of us using Jaaxy

Just wondering how is it that jaaxy is able to know what keywords are being typed into Google search and the popularity of such keywords?? Or is this a Jaaxy trade Secrete? LOL

Not a trade secret but a custom algorithm that was developed when Google pulled a fast one on the keyword search community back in 2011 or was it 2012. Either way, Carson and his team have done a wonderful job getting an algorithm working that is not dependent on the Google API.

So in other words no matter what stunt google pulls on us marketers It won't effect Jaaxy's algorithm?
I'm having a hard time understanding why google would make it harder and harder for us people who are trying to make a living online? I mean after all at one time in the beginning of googles life before they where very well known they must have relied on marketing of some sort to be where there at now?

From my understanding, Google isn't really making it harder, they have a new better tool it just requires you to have an Adwords account, they then hope that you'll spend money via Adwords.

Yeah, you will not see Jaaxy affected by updates to the Google external keyword tools which are intended for advertisers, not SEO. That is the reason why keyword tools like Jaaxy exist because Google is not in the business of helping people with SEO, they are there to help people spend more money within their paid Adwords accounts.

It seems like I had a feeling that they would soon do this. No worry at all for me as for I am a heavy jaaxy user! :)

This may come at a heart touched thing for all that relayed on that keyword tool.

I always wondered why many bothered with it because I could not use it at all. Good thing I always relayed on jaxxy for my keywords.

Don't forget to mention that many of the "other" tools are freaking out with this. There is a great opportunity for people that are looking for a keyword tool that works.

Good point, Craig!

Yeah, many tools out there scrape data from the external tool and those will no longer be usable.

I do use the adwords tool some but my favorite method is to enter ideas into the google browser for search and competition results, works great.

Yeah, the alphabet soup technique, that works great!

I just recently discovered the adwords tool and can't quite afford jaaxy yet so i guess i will continue to get by with the WA tool and other alternate methods that seem to be working.

You can still use the new Keyword Planner by Google for free once the other tool gets removed.
You just need to create an account, so if you have a gmail account, sign up for a adwords account.
No need to enter credit card just ignore that part.

On a side note, the new keyword planner is actually pretty good as it now ties in the search history trend for the last 12 months. Groups keywords into groups that Google thinks are related to each other.

Thanks Weshy. It is important people know all the facts and that they aren't scared into using Jaaxy if they can"t afford it.

I agree with welshy. I just went and read about the Google new Keyword Planner and it is pretty good. I have always used WA Keyword tool and Google Keyword tool and also the alphabet technique. Also, did you know that Amazon has its own built in keyword tool also? It kinda works like Google Instant. Anyways, it is important to stay in touch with Google as much as possible with all of its updates and one thing about it is that it is all free for those of us who are on a limited budget.

Yeah, Google Instant and the Amazon "instant" features can both work great for keyword research.

Interesting, but as you say it serves no value to their business so why keep it. Definitely a good chance to scoop up some Jaaxy commissions once people start searching for alternatives.

Nothing gets past you, Kyle, Thanks. Rich just sent me this blog too. Have about used my 30 searches to decide my domain purchases so will have to upgrade. Making $ so investing in the business. Have tired of the 1/2 pages for basic search and not being able to search for competition. Hope to pay yearly by month end.^_~

You won't regret it, both the Pro & Enterprise versions are definitely worth it!

Thanks, Kyle. I had a comment on my writing blog so I asked Rich about it. He told me there would be no problem with JAAXY. Later today he sent me this blog. I love JAAXY and I want to keep using it. John

Yeah, not sure why people thought this would impact Jaaxy, but it absolutely is unrelated. Glad you are loving Jaaxy, it is my bread and butter for keyword research as well!

I think it is because so many keyword tools are based on Google's keyword tools. John
