A Niche is A Group of People Looking for Stuff
Last Update: October 24, 2017

Many folks are confused about the term “niche” and they read into it too much. Because of this, I want to simplify the term niche.

A niche is simply a GROUP of PEOPLE

These people are interested in something, but something specific. The key when choosing this group of people is to be very specific because if you are are too broad, then it is going to be difficult to talk to your audience.

It is like someone walking into a supermarket looking for advice on “how to improve their metabolism”. It is not going to happen and you are not likely to trust the source of the information. Definitely not like the experience you would get if you walked into a store that specialized in metabolism.

Within the online world there are 3.75 BILLION people. That is the biggest marketplace in the world by a long shot so you want to really become an expert within the very specific category you choose.

So, when you sit down and are thinking of what your niche is, think not of this imaginary and confusing word “niche”, think instead of a group of people.

But you don’t want this group to be too broad. That is the worst thing you can do when starting out. I want to give you some examples of a niche that is too broad and then I want to give you some examples of groups of people that are much more "niche" and specific.

A group of people interested in health. Not the best (TOO BROAD).

Health could be just about anything. I constantly see folks at WA trying to start off within the health niche. Well "health" isn't a niche, it's very broad. How do you target people within health? That is not an audience that you can effectively target, rather you need to dig down and get more specific.

A group of people looking to improve their metabolism. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this.

A group of people over 50 years old looking to lose weight. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this.

A group of people looking to fix their back problems. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this.

A group of men that are looking for help for hair loss. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to for this type of help.

A group of people that are looking for low carb diets. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

See where I am going with this? People are not looking for health, they are looking for something much more specific. There are 10,000’s of niches within the broad "health" industry. Tens of thousands of groups looking to accomplish something, looking to buy something, looking for help solving a problem.

All you need to do is target one of these and you have yourself a niche and a very big group of people.

Let’s look at another example...

A group of people interested in babies. Not the best (TOO BROAD).

People interested in “babies” is going to be very difficult to target because it is far too broad. People don’t open Google and search for “babies” online, they search for things that are much more specific.

A group of people looking for organic baby products. That is a targeted niche (but still a little broad).

A group of people looking for organic cloth diapers. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to for these.

A group of people looking for stimulation toys for infants. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for learning apps for babies. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for jogging strollers. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for cribs and information about cribs. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for this.

A group of people looking for classic children's books. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for information about colic babies. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for help.

A group of people looking for information on how to treat babies that are sick. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for help on this.

See how I am narrowing things down to a much more specific group of people? Sure, these are targeted but they are still massive. Millions of people are looking for information, for help, and ultimately are spending billions of dollars online buying things throughout the course of a year and you are going to be able to capitalize on this with your website.

Massive opportunity resides just about everywhere you look within the online world because there are specific groups of people everywhere (also known as niches)

But What About the Niche Competition? Shouldn’t I Be Concerned?

No...No….and NO!

Within each of these more targeted groups of people, there are 1,000’s (sometimes millions) of low competition keywords you can target. What you are learning here at WA also gives you a huge competitive advantage over your competition and is going to help you capitalize on any niche.

And please do remember, there is a reason there are a million of every type of store in the world. There are a million hardware stores. There are a million baby toy shops. Millions of people are buying stuff in the smallest of categories.

To put this into perspective, there are 4 million babies born in the US alone each and every year. That means there are 4 million mom’s and dad’s online looking for information about their new babies, looking for help, looking to buy products or services...and this is where you step in with your niche website.

This could be for organic cloth baby diapers or for information on colic babies...or anything that targets a specific group of people.

I don’t want to blow your mind too much here, but there are 120 million babies born every year globally so the audience that is online and looking for stuff within this niche is much larger than the 4 million people in the US.

Crazy right?

Now, when you go to choose your niche, dig into it a bit and find a more specific group of people. Recognize that there are MILLIONS of people within every niche you can imagine and that is the beautiful part about this Internet “thing”. It is not going anywhere and as every year goes by, there is opportunity absolutely everywhere you look and it only continues to grow.

Now go out there and find your GROUP OF PEOPLE. If you want any help in regards to this or want to get feedback on your ideas for a niche, drop a comment below and we will be more than happy to help you out.

PS. If you still can’t come up with a niche after this and want one that is “chosen” for you already, go through the Affiliate Bootcamp. You will love the interactive training over there if you do decide to choose this.

Hi Gail, On my website I have to write a blog, I have never done this before, I am not so good with words or writing, I don't even know what to say, where do I begin, how do I go about doing this, I know this sounds silly, but I am lost, please help, thanks

First of all, don't panic. You are not writing a book, you are communicating with people in the same way you do all day every day with your friends. You want to approach your blog with this attitude. Imagine you are talking to them about your niche (baby monitors). What would you want to say or do?
Why not have a look at an article I have just written about starting a website. I will PM you the link as it is on my niche site. It talks about doing some research and questions to ask which may help you to look around at other sites to get an idea of what an article should include.
Secondly, I would use the SiteContent platform (through the turquoise button on the left) to start an article. You can write everything in SiteContent before you publish it and even then you can go and edit it.
I suggest you write down some headings, say 5 headings for your article. They might be things like:
Why do you need a baby monitor?
What does a baby monitor do?
What types of monitor are there?
Something like this. They you can write say 200 words under each heading. I'm sure you will soon get the hang of it. It does take a bit of practice when you start out, but you can do it.
I'll PM you the link now. All the best.

I'm just not so sure. A person looking for say info on cribs is likely these days to go straight to Amazon and check reviews (I'd say same with most products). Sick baby info is likely WebMD or some such.
I having a hard time being convinced that the reality isnt that the successful niches are really very small in number because everyone just goes to a big site for their products/info. Maybe later lessons will convince me otherwise but I just don't see it.

(And I'm talking affiliate marketing here, not own store)

You will hear it a lot as you move through the training John - "content is king" and this is what sets your site apart from those others.

WA teaches not only how to write good content, but how to use keywords and SEO to ensure your post comes up on the first page of Google when people are searching those keywords.

So your person puts in best baby cribs in the Google search, and up pops your website with a great blurb which encourages the reader to click on it and check out your stuff.

You post a great article to your Facebook page which gives the reader some quality information they didn't even know they needed about home remedies for a colicky baby (I don't know anything about kids so this could be completely wrong but you get my drift).

Yes the name of the game is to get traffic and as much of it as possible, you don't need to beat Amazon or WebMD you just need to offer what people want and you will be mixing it with the big dogs :)

Hello,
Read there articles and listen to the podcasts:
https://www.authorityhacker.com/small-sites/
https://www.authorityhacker.com/micro-niche-sites/

What a niche site does curate product information and offers in a way that allows people to make purchase. When you buy something, most people don't buy the first thing they see. Rather they do research, and the there is where the niche site comes into play.
If you make helpful, convincing, valuable review, with complete feature description, and user experience, then you will succeed. Check out sites like the www.thewirecutter.com to see how a review is done.
If what you say is they, then how come they are making millions?

Not everyone goes to the big sites, I personally don't if I am looking for something I go to Google.

If there is and article that catches my on the product I look at that, to try and get some background on different makes and models, that's where we come in providing people with information.

I have found a lot of the stuff I buy online to be more expensive on Amazon, the only thing I buy from them are books in Kindle format, because you get your book instantly.

Hi, I was wondering if choosing athletic shoes for women would work as a niche? Or would I need to choose a specific thing, like tennis shoes? I know Kyle gave basketball shoes as an example in the video. I just liked athletic shoes because of the different options it provided -- tennis shoes, basketball shoes, running shoes, etc.
Also, does the amount of products matter? For example, on Amazon, if there were 3,000 options for something, is that a good number?
Thanks for any input.

Hi BVIII2,

If you decide on athletic shoes as your niche, make certain that you have used both the Jaaxy Keyword search tool and also the google search tool where you can apply the "alphabet soup" technique Kyle suggests in his tutorial here: I hope this helps you,

Hello!

It might be a good idea if you narrow it down a little, maybe by Athletic Women's Shoes for "walking", "running," "Athletic Women's Shoes with a Wide Toe Box," "... with Ankle Support," "Wide Width," etc.

Hope that helps! : )

Hi, thanks for answering! I've heard those tools mentioned, but I haven't come across them in the course yet. Since I'm new to all of this, I kind of like to follow things in a step-by-step manner. :) So since those haven't been shown yet, I haven't ever used them. However, would you suggest using Jaxxy and the alphabet soup technique before definitively choosing the niche?

The picking of my niche has been a stumbling block for me every time. But I think I have decided. I would really appreciate any feedback.

Jeeps: I love them and I just got my first one. Anyone that owns a Jeep will tell you that not only is it the fun you can have, but it's the amount of accessories you can buy.

I think that just Jeeps is too broad, but I am not sure. Jeep accessories is ok...and Jeep Wrangler Accessories is very specific. But is it too specific? Now I am second guessing! Geez. Happens every time!

Help!

If you are stuck on a niche, check Alex Becker's videos on YTB. There are loads of resources available for niche research.

Jeep accessories is OK, if people buy those things online. I don;t know, I drive a cheap car, and buy accessories from the supermarket.
Jeeps is not a god niche. Nobody buys expensive car online.
Reply

Hey Jessica,

You can definitely create a site about Jeep accessories. Many people want to know the best Jeep accessories, where to get them, how to install them, and anything related to this.

So there's a lot of traffic potential here (reviews, comparisons, best of posts, how to's, guides, general articles about Jeep accessories).

You could also consider narrowing this down a bit. For example: 'Jeep off-road accessories/ mods' where you have a site all about the many ways you can modify your rig for off road adventures.

This is just one idea off the top of my head, but you can definitely break this niche down and come up with many great ideas.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions going forward.

Never heard of Barrett Jackson Auctions, E-bay Motors, or Auto Trader? Jeeps often make all 3 sites and sell for a good sum. Jeep is also not a luxury brand, and the accessories are typically ordered online by the shops that sell them to you via their distributors. It's a great niche if you look at the research instead of the money in your pocket.

Jeep accessories definitely a good niche. Jeeps in general (full car), that was my initial doubt.

So I *think* I found my niche. I am a homeschooling mom, and also a previous elementary school teacher. Would homeschooling resources (books, materials, products) be a good niche? Is it too broad?
Also, is it possible to do the get started program for my own niche AND the affiliate bootcamp to promote WA at the same time?

I wouldn't have thought home schooling was too broad, in fact quitre a good one and as for the last part I would have thought a perfect fit.

And it's definitely possible to work on your own niche while promoting WA in Bootcamp. I'm working on my own niche and Bootcamp at the same time and it's definitely doable and manageable. :)

Hey everyone,

I'm wanting to help women that deal with pmdd (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder). Is this to broad? I could go a little more specific and discuss the depression side of it but that feels to limiting to me. Pmdd is the reason I feel so strongly about striving to live authentically because for years I spend every month feeling like a different person that it really took its tole on me. I'm not trying to promote a cure but simply coach people to manage it more effectively.

Narfinsel Premium
You need to think about a few things ahead:
1) Is the niche competitive? (we can talk in private if you want on how to reasearch this) But basically:
Think of what KW you want to rank for. EX: "Best cure for pmdd"
Type them in Google, and see what you get. Are there lots of sites on that? Are there big blogs? How many search results?

2) Are there things to review and sell? (I presume natural remedies for pmdd, meds, etc)

3) Are those the kind of products people will buy from the internet? Or do they have a special status (meds with prescription, recommendation from doctor, consultations, etc)? You need to think of these things before you invest in your site.
For, example people don't usually buy food online. They may order it. Maybe under special circumstance.... I don't know.

I learned through experience that before I start a niche I have to do lots, lots, lots of research.
Since you are a starter, take a week to learn from youtute on niche research. I recommend "lazy ass stoner", "alex becker", "doug cunnington".

Have fun! :)

I think that's absolutely brilliant because I have suffered from hormonal swings my whole life and can totally identify with feeling different ever cycle. I personally feel we get no support as women from conventional medicine and I would be very interested in learning about how to naturally balance the body. I don't think it's too broad at all . Because your homing in one one area. Too broad would be female hormonal problems in general. I don't know much about the disorder but sounds like I might fall into the category . Hope this helps and good luck with the journey!

Hi there, Everyone! I am looking for some input on my niche and appreciate any advice you all have to offer.
I am thinking about targeting people who are looking for energy efficient appliances for high performance homes. My husband is a high performance builder, and we have noticed the need for sites dedicated to showcasing energy efficient products. We are currently building our own house and have spent hours delving into sites for ceiling fans, washers and dryers, dishwashers, etc., to pull out the ones that will qualify for energy efficient incentives.
I would love to start a site with the larger appliances like the ones I mentioned above, but am wondering if that is too broad and if I should narrow it down to one appliance instead (like ceiling fans...I already found the affiliate programs for the top energy efficient fans.) I am also not sure if I should specifically mention "high performance homes" or if that would narrow my audience down too much by excluding people who are just searching for energy efficient appliances, but not necessarily for a "high performance home."

Look at your competition or and CSR in Jaxxy for the main niche. If there are not many blogs in the category and your SEO score is above 80 you should rank nicely. Individual post about appliances and appliance types will help you rank for your main keywords.

I think drop the high performance homes, you could always do a series of articles on the appliances for those within your niche of energy efficient appliances anyway.

I’d keep it to all appliances to start, you might find as you build out the site you tend to go more in one direction, these sites seem to have a mind of their own as they grow and develop.

Sounds like a great little niche to me.

You can talk about clothing that upon wearing could help a lady lose weight, diet supplements and meds a woman should take, perhaps what types of exercise machines are safe for a lady who had just given birth to work out on.

I hope that this helps you out. :)

Please let me know if you need more help brainstorming ideas. :D

Hey,
Great idea, ... an intersect between WEIGHT LOSS - PREGNANCY.
Lots of products to review, home gym, supplements, clothing that make you slim, baby products. And you can branch off.

Just one thing to remember: I know that the weight loss niche is very competitive, so make sure you don't drift too far in that direction. Maybe insist more on pregnancy exercises and diets.

Also, I like that in this niche, you can make up a lot of info-graphics, which will drives your traffic, and increase the chances of other people sharing your content on twitter / Facebook.

Also, think about this;
What else can help looks, aside from fashion and weight loss?
Yoga for pregnancy,
Breathing exercise for pregnant women,
Jogging strollers,
Best massages oils during pregnancy

:)) ... OK, I am already drifting too far into my kinky fantasies, so I better stop...

I wish all the best. Make lots of $$$$$.

Hello, try type in Google some of the keyword that your niche might type in:
"best hand carved gifts"
"carved wooden pens" .... etc

You want to see how much competition there is.
I saw that on carved pens at least, there are no blogs. Mostly only gift shops, product companies, etc. No major blogs.
SO that is a good signs, it means your niche is open for business. You do need to rank good, and low competition will help you.

when you say there are no blogs would you suggest that i start writing one? i love making pens i can get lost in making them and love showing them off but I don't know how much I could write about it. your opinions are appreciated and needed I really want to make a go at this. hope t hear more tips from you. thanks

Hi Stephanie,

'Hand carved gifts' or 'hand carved gift ideas' is an awesome niche idea. There are people searching for this and there is plenty of room for a new site in this space.

Writing is going to be something you'll be doing in order to get traffic. So you want to be thinking in terms of "how can I help people who are looking for hand carved gifts?".

So you could write about the different types of hand carved gifts, how to make them, where to get good materials, you could review and compare products along with many other great ideas.

As you progress through the training you will learn how to find good topics to write about and how to promote these products.

So you're on the right track and you've got everything you need here to make it work.

Let me know if you have any questions going forward :) Cheers

yes, I suggest you start one. No blogs = no competition. A lot of stores = lots of possibilities for affiliates.
You can write about wood carving, wood painting, you can review other people's products and write product recommendations (others than for your own). You can explore Totemic arts, Iconography ... I don't now what adjacent interests people in this niche have.

You can build up a more general topic by using laser targeted post, so the main theme of your site can be far more open than the post you fill it with. Follow the practices of finding low hanging fruit and you will crush those other sites iin a couple years. Then they will be questioning their approach as they wonder how you are beating them.

A niche is a group of people. There are enough people around the world in search of something that entreps can provide . We have to narrow in on their specific needs and fill the demand. Niche: Daily skincare for women: 20s and beyond.
Can I get some feedback. Is this narrow enough

Hi. I'm new here, too, so get another opinion besides mine. You're on the right track. Narrowing your niche down a little more might not hurt though. Skin care for women in their 20s and beyond includes all adult women. So, your current niche may be broader than you think. What if you went for either an older group, or a younger group with their respective issues? Regardless, your idea sounds great! Try a private message with some of the high ranking ambassadors and see what they say. I'm sure they can give you better advice if what I'm suggesting is off base. Good luck!

You're welcome. I'm learning, too, so ask others. I hear one's niche needs to be tied to search engine keywords at some point. That's how you reach your audience. So, maybe you can still speak to your desired audience so long as you get the right keywords to generate traffic. Like Ozopps says-- "20 and beyond" is a large niche. But you may be able to work that to your advantage if you find the right search keywords. Again, I'm learning, too. So, take my words with a grain of salt.

But, if I choose a niche like "organic cloth diapers" from the examples above, it seems like there is a finite amount of information upon which to generate content. If I choose something that specific, is it expected that I will keep writing about diapers, or is "diapers" considered a micro-niche within a blog with broader interests?

It seems that eventually, I will run out of things to say on a given topic. At that point I can pick another niche, but do I need to keep writing on the original topic to keep it profitable, or does it become self-sustaining?

Hi everyone!
I just started my affiliate marketing journey. I'm thinking of starting a music blog specifically for hip hop or EDM (electronic music) audience. I would use apple music, spotify, and amazon affiliate programs to scale.
I would appreciate any feedback or if anyone is already in the music niche I'd love any kind of input :)

Hi, everyone! I created my blog in an attempt to help busy women look better. It covers pretty and comfortable clothing choices, quick and simple beauty tips and sometimes I also share some healthy recipes. Is it too broad? Or do I have a niche? I'd really appreciate your feedback!!! :)

Actually, it is a very nice niche. Those of us who are working, we don't have time to browse through all these magazines... and catalogs, and if you are targeting such category of customers, it is really useful.

Hello WA'ers! Like many of you, I also have a lot more than one interest... Health and wellbeing (very broad, I know) being one of them. I have had a blog in the past and just named it halinasophie (my username), I was just wondering if it would be worthwhile naming a website the same? hainasophie is kind of my brand. it is me being vulnerable and sharing my experiences. I am my brand, I guess. I'm hoping to educate people on many different aspects of health and share many tools including what has helped me overcome a serious illness. Under my name I'll be blogging about my experiences and sharing and promoting products/recipes I've used and know of. So I guess my question is, can naming a website your actual name be a good way to go?

Thank you very muchly :)

Hi Halina;

Using your name can be. It is and it isn't, the main thing is that your posts are helping people with their health and overcoming serious illness'. Wishing you the best of luck.

Hi Halina,

Excellent question! And not a straight answer as it has pros and cons...

If you're planning on potentially selling your website in the future...building it around you is not a good idea as it's not easily transferrable. But if this is not a website you see yourself selling and want to build a strong following...then I think using your name as the brand is a great idea ;)

I think I have narrowed it down to marketing to a group of people who want to educate their children.

Like maybe advertising educational toys and learning apps and books and stuff like that.

Any suggestions or feedback on if that would go well?

I am a single Mom of a two-year-old and I absolutely love learning new things with my son and I’m always on the hunt for some new way or app to teach him with.

Thanks guys!

I was looking at educational toys niche myself, there is scope in there and I also got a domain name for it a month ago probably, but I didn't have time to develop it yet, will do after other current projects are settled.

Do some keyword research to learn more about traffic and other sites you could look at for reference

Hi Kayla;
If this is what you love, then go for it. The niche is a good one but the most important thing is that you want to bring new things to your child. All mothers would like new things for their children. You will write great posts because you love learning and teaching.
Best of Luck.

Hello Community,

Working on my niche and I've narrowed it to three:

1. Phone chargers (wall and car chargers)
2. Public speaking. (I've been involved with toastmasters, and have read many books on this topic.)
3. Dog training with a clicker.

Do any of you have a recommendation on any of these?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hello Tyler;
From reading a lot of posts people but out. There are a lot of different dog enthusiasts that are around, the dog training sounds good.

Phone chargers are not going to bring you much, unless some of your posts and sell in bulk. They are too cheap and can be gotten anywhere.

Public Speaking is also very good, but don't limit it to toastmasters unless they have a substantial amount of product.

Any niche is good as long as you are knowledgeable about it. A great hobby would also be great.

Best of Luck

I'm just getting started and looking for some input on finding my niche. In a broad sense, my I want to be in the health/wellness niche but realize I need to narrow that down. More specifically, I'd like to focus on "clean" living as in food, lifestyle habits, body products etc. As I'm already part of a health/wellness business, I'd like to incorporate what I already have and use into my niche and create my own brand online using these products plus my own ideas.

I've created a couple of courses with this niche in mind, one being a 30 day Total Body Detox and the other is centered around emotional well-being using essential oils. I feel very passionate about both of these topics and wonder if there is a niche idea that would incorporate them both or if I should choose just one. I've got some other ideas along these lines as well but that just adds to the struggle. :)

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Cheryll;
Instead of making 2 websites for now, just go back and forth with posts on them both incorporating the Total Body Detox and the essential oils. This way you will have a better way to incorporate some of the clean living and food products.

If you make 2 websites at this time, people have to be able to find each one separately.

Hello All,

I was thinking my niche would be in the realm of plus size fashion. I love to shop and I can identify with the challenges us plus size women face looking for clothes and shoes. Sometimes things just don't look proper. I would provide tips, anaylze stores and their plus size collections, identify staple pieces, best bang for your buck and things of that nature. Would this be too broad? Thanks in advance!

LianaM,
Being a mom myself with all the kids out of the house I understand how challenging it can be for your to narrow it down. I remember being at a conference when my children were little and at that time I was a stay at home, homeschool mom with a chronically ill son who was in intensive care about every 3 months until he was 10 yrs. old. Everyone in the room was introducing themselves and their very professional business title. When it came around to me the only thing I could say "I'm just a mom" I was horrified and terribly embarrassed because I simply had no identity outside of that life. Then a wonderful man introduced himself to me and my life changed, he reminded me that being a mom is one of the most incredible and important jobs there are.

My question to you:
What do you 'love' about being a mom? What makes you happy and move to a different dance?

Start writing those things down and your answer will be there.

Dishes?
Laundry?
Sure you can write about those things and be an expert at it.
But what makes you move to the beat of a different drum that you can write about for years to come?
Sometimes those things can come out of hurt, loss, or hardship too.

You'll do just fine. After all, you're a mom! :-)

Enjoy the lessons, the system, and the wonderful community here at WA.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you,

RitaAnn~

Love your story and the part about the conference, and it so landed. Being a mom is the most difficult job out there.

answering your question.
What do you 'love' about being a mom? What makes you happy and move to a different dance?
I love how I am their role model, and how they look up to me. It scares me because I there are many challenges and mistakes that go along the way. One thing I know for sure is when I take care of my self (self love, fun, play, read, anything that is only for me) is when I am there for my children. That is when my family is in harmony.

Would love to connect with you more

Thank you

Concentrate on the age of the kids.
Toddlers? Middle school? Teenagers?
What specific challenges are you dealing with? Meals, getting kids to bed, looking for fun activities for kids, healthcare for kids?

Maybe support businesses that have baby sitting services or Nannies

I hope this helps

I wanted to know how large of a niche there is for professional quality product pictures for websites and advertisements for smaller businesses. Products including jewelry, watches, hats, clothing, supplements, etc. I have aquirred studio equipment starting my own personal clothing brand and I want to help other small business owners present a professional look for their websites. I know this isn't exactly affiliate marketing but I just wanted to get thoughts from the like-minded or if there is a niche focused more on affiliate marketing that deals with photography, please let me know ideas.

Hello there!
I had created the website, but I ended up erasing it because I found it difficult to write good content. I hope you can help me in the selection of my niche.
I want to become a veterinarian eventually, so I thought that one idea could be how to keep my cat healthy.
The other niche is about a book that I am still writing which is about inner peace and joy.
Another niche I am interested about is at home fitness, or at home workouts.
I hope you can help me to narrow them down. I want to create one web page in the beginning until I get results before I spend time on two or three web pages.
Thank you!

Ok, I think you are trying to do too much at one time. If you want to become a veterinarian, to keep your cat healthy would be a great niche. Stick with the lessons and write about how to keep all cats healthy, by what food they should eat and what people have to do to keep their cats healthy also. Once you have that website down pat, then go on to a 2nd website. Wishing you all the best in your endeavors with WA.

Hi guys looking for feedback on choosing my niche. As you might see by my profile pic I have and ride horses. I was thinking to target "new horse owners", but wondering if this is too broad? I know when I started out I was looking for all sorts of advice, products etc. across lots of different areas, can/should one website try and cover lots of areas but specifically for people who are new to horse ownership? Your thoughts most appreciated?

Actually, I love the idea of targeting new horse owners. I know lots of people who love to ride but know nothing about caring for horses. Also if handled well, you would probably get a lot of traffic from veteran owners too.

I think a site around new horse owners is a great idea. You can sort your posts into categories such proper nutrition, dental care, foot and hoof care, etc. There is so much information a new horse owner would need. And there are certainly plenty of products to promote in this niche. Good luck!
Reply
MsMerry Premium
Yes, I think you have a good target there as well. You have so much you could give new people a lot of knowledge about as well as doing reviews where one product outshines another, what tools do you need to taking care of the horse and then what about the things you need as a rider. Awesome niche and I wish you the best.

I have a similar niche. A dog showed up on our property a year ago and we ended up keeping her. So many things came up that I didn't know about. It was certainly much different than when I was a child with a dog. I figured there might be a lot of people rescuing dogs, we have a major problem with unwanted pets in AL, that would have the same questions. I decided to narrow my topics to health, treat recipes and reviews of dog related products. I could probably narrow my niche to just one of those.

So, with your site, I wouldn't try to cover everything. I'm particularly not focusing on puppies or senior dogs, but there is plenty in between. Pick a few topics that you are most interested in, have knowledge about and will enjoy writing about.

Hi everyone, I have two ideas in mind for my niche and need your help in choosing one,the first is athletic clothing,do you think its to broad or should I narrow in more on one specific sport, and the second is home exercise equipment and accessories,or should I take out the accessories part of it?
Reply
a1jonuk Premium
I would narrow the clothing down maybe to a particular type, using Jaaxy keyword research to find a type of athletic clothing that has low competition but get sufficient search volume.
The same with home exercise equipment, narrow that with keyword research.
Best,

Andrew.
Reply
CarolMeador Premium
Hello, ECharles.

I don't know which one would be better off hand without doing research on Jaaxy for either of these ideas.

I think I would choose one sport to begin with if you do athletic clothing. Suggest you use Jaaxy to find the one with the least competition because I imagine there are a lot of websites targeting this audience.

Without having done Jaaxy research, I think I would choose home exercise equipment because it might have less competition than the athletic clothing. But that is just a guess, and you would need to research both to make an informed decision on which would be best.

If you choose home exercise equipment, you could begin with that and branch out to include accessories after you get the basic content done. That's what I'm doing with my ballroom dance website. I have so many different ways I can go with it, and you will probably find the same thing with this niche when you start doing your research for posts.

Regardless of which niche you choose, I suggest you keep your domain name so that you can add sidelines as you grow.

I'll be curious to know which one you decide on. Good luck with whichever direction you take.

Carol
