Hello all,

I have a business associate who has a site running on Joomla. She wants to get assistance from WA in helping her with using Joomla. Can we here at WA provide th

Thank you MontieE. I was looking at that before but didn't go thru all of it. Will do so...

Ken

it's rather like going to a windows forum and asking help for a Mac ( or the other way around )

Wordpress is a similar choice. I'm a wordpress fan and wouldn't use Joomla. If a client came to me that was on Joomla I would offer to switch them after giving them my reasons for preference

1 - If she already has Joomla set and wants to do wa and she knows how to work Joomla, just go ahead and adapt it

2 - If she wants to do wa and doesn't know how to do Joomla I would suggest to switch

here is a run through of what that would entail

http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-move-your-site-from-joomla-to-wordpress/

Hello hantaah. Thank you for the quick response and assistance. Much appreciated. She does not know anything about Joomla. A web developer built her site for her.....
Ken

Can she migrate joomla to WA and would her site look the same?

If I do a search on Google for people exercising and working out with weights, can I use those images on my site? Per the training Kyle provided us with other free sites to get

The short answer is no, not without the risk of being sued
Here is a little warning
People are actually putting images on Google in the hope that people use them so they can sue for breach of copy write
Last year someone was sued to the tune of $10,000
It really is not worth it

Barry

I would tread carefully if I were you. I recently read about a blogger who innocently used a Google image and ended up with a lawsuit on her hands. She had to pay a hefty fee (can't remember the amount) for a genuine mistake.

I try to create my own images to save money but sometimes it's not always possible to use my own, depending on the type of picture that's needed for my post.

You can try doing that where possible or source free images, add the picture with a caption giving credence to the photographer. I have a few of those on my site which are temporary until they either replaced with my own custom photos or purchased.

You can use images from a Google search, but you really have to be careful~~some of them may have copy rights~~I would definitely double check the source from where the image originally came from

Thank you Swein. How would I go about checking the source?

When you are at Google under images tab~~if I find a pic that I really want to use I click on it~~it will appear in a different box~~then I click where it says "view webpage" ~~if there isn't any then I use it~~a few times I have written an email to the owner of the image to get permission to use their image

Thank you very much for that information. I will definitely apply it....

You're welcome~Glad I was able to help~~by the way most of the time when I email someone to get permission they usually say yes as long as I credit to the image to them

I am doing a search again on google and it seems like a large percentage of the pics say "images may be subject to copyright" send feedback.....

Hi Swein. Thank you for providing this info. Can you clarify the step of clicking, "view webpage"? You said, "if there isn't any." Do you mean if there's isn't a website to view, then you'll use the image?

I do as long as they say it is ok to use them all the best

Thanks Maxiam59... All the best to you as well.

A site such as wix.com and copy it here?

Thank you and the same to you....

You can install the theme in wp/on your website. I am using a paid theme I purchased some time ago.

Hello JennPGD. You mean from a 3rd party like wix dot com?

I don't know about wix but yes. I use genesis theme.

One other question, how do I remove the double spacing in wp? Thank you...

I'm sorry I don't understand that. But I suggest you contact admin by submitting them a ticket. Go to the menu Build My Website and then the last tab on ticket. They normally come back to you within the hour.

No problem and thank you...

Happy to help. All the best to you.

Maybe I am not seeing them all but WA only has 4 themes that I see. Are there more in a different location?

As a Premium member you have access to over 1400 plus themes. Go to appearance then themes and pick the ones you like and install. If you already have some content on another site make sure you do a back up before changing themes. Some themes may not have the same function as the one you may have whereas others may have more functions depends on what you what you site to be like.
Take care be well
Andre

GM Andre. Thank you for the information. What I was not doing was selecting the add new theme button at the top.
Have a great day...
Kenneth

Hi Kenneth
Another option to take is if you like a few of the themes. Download them and when all done select a theme you feel might be good then hover over with the mouse to the right of that theme towards the bottom part and you will see the word live preview.

Click this and as that theme opens up it will show all your current content on that theme.
Don't worry it is only a preview of what you current content would look like if you choose that theme.

If you want to try the same for another theme then click cancel top left and try the same method with a new theme.

Should you like a particular theme and wont to use it then click save and install.

Make sure that before you do this always ensure that you have backed up your current work before trying this just in case something goes the wrong way.

Hope this has been some help.

Take care and be well.

Andre

Hello Andre,
Thanks for the advice. That is what I have been doing since I found all the themes now. There are a lot....

Make it a great day,
Kenneth

Enjoy yes there are a lot to choose from also as you now know you can easy spend most of you day just playing with the themes. Remember some themes will not show all you content i have some themes that don't show my widgets I have on the side some place my widgets at the bottom instead so you may need to play around until you are happy.
Enjoy
