I am trying to upload images to my media library for my wordpress site and I keep getting an error code. I had taken the photos with my phone, then downloaded them to my compu

Hey Kate,

You can easily optimize (and SHOULD always!) your images. Here's the way I optimize mine (so I have no need of an extra plugin)

I had this problem sometimes too. It is good again after I clear my browser's cache and cookies. Perhaps you could try too. :)

You probably need to resize the image before you try to upload to your website. Also check the filename and make sure it only has letters and number and that it's a .jpg or .png format.

So I am not the only one. It appears something is going on with Wordpress, this has been going on with me for the last 10 days or so.

But there is a fix.

When I am writing a new Post or Page, I will upload the photo either directly to that new article or to the media library.

It's usually a matter of reloading the page for it to appear. Sometimes after doing so, the image seems to still have an error, but once I add it to an article, it will appear normal.

Try reloading and then placing the image where it needs to go. Hopefully, the image appears as intended.

Also, I'm not sure if you're doing this but it's good practice to optimize your images prior to uploading them to your website.

Here's two free online image optimizing tools that I use:

Hope this clears the issue.

I'm working on a new website. There are SO many templates to choose from. Is it possible to isolate/filter/search for specific tags?
While I may do some blog posts on this

Inside of wordpress itself, you have a few options at the top of the Add Themes form. You can always use the features filter. It is limited but is about the best wordpress offers at the moment.

Thanks!

WA Affiliate Program

I don't like to be asking this question because I love the WA premium membership and community. I just haven't had as much time to put in on the lessons as I originally though

Hi! I have also found if you are pretty good at attention to detail mystery shopping is worth looking at to earn a little extra pocket money. How much depends on the job and you may get kind of crummy one's to start with, but if you build up a reputation for being reliable, you start getting bigger ticket items. You do have to do a bit of research first though and make sure you sign up with companies with good reputations.

Hi Kate
Something else you may like to try is freelancing for a site like Upwork where you can choose jobs which suit you, e.g. copywriting, content writing, proof-reading etc, where I am sure you could at least earn the $47 you need for WA. Just a thought :)

Thanks! I have heard about Upwork but haven't looked at it yet. I definitely will now ;)
Thanks!

Hey Kate,

If your site is being hosted on WA's server, you could always buy hosting services elsewhere and transfer your site to them.

However, when you check out the prices of hosting you'll soon discover that if you upgrade your membership to YEARLY here at WA, your price to learn is reduced ... substantially!

Also ... if you think that 3 months is too long to be without your site bringing you in money than you'll not be a very "happy camper" to learn that your earnings might not come in for a few years.

Affiliate marketing depends on a lot of things ... like the niche you choose, the quality of your content, if you've done proper SEO ... etc.

This is not magic ... honest. It's work to get to where a site brings in money.

As a website designer (me!) who has paid for her own web hosting elsewhere out of necessity (local market) ... I KNOW I'm getting a substantially GREAT deal here at WA for my affiliate sites, and I'll GLADLY pay to play and learn!

Hi, thanks for your insight! I do understand the long term financial benefit of WA, unfortunately I'm in a short term bind :/
I'm going to try and make this work...

Ah! If you are hurting for funds ... yupper ... I get it. So ... what you COULD do is make sure you take a FULL backup of your website(s) hosted here.

I recommend you follow Marion Black's instructions for creating full back ups of your sites: Then, put your membership on pause. Apparently, Kyle and Carson have setup our memberships so that ... no, you cannot go back to being a free member, which is totally understandable ... BUT ... we can sign OFF for a spell ... NO CHARGES to our credit cards will be made and there'll be NO access to our accounts (logically!) ... AND ... when we're ready to return, we make our payment, and POOF! We're back as members.

Before you do ANYTHING like what you are saying ... please, contact Kyle or Carson privately. Explain your predicament. Maybe ... just maybe they'll have a suggestion making it possible for you to stay.

Thanks thanks!

Hi Kate.

There is a very clear explanation here by Leo. If I am not wrong, there should be a Black Friday promotion coming next month. It happened every year since I joined WA. Last year the premium dropped to $299/yr and it is grandfathered. I upgraded to yearly last year considering the premium is less than a dollar a day. I thought I could just drink a cup of coffee less each day and I can save for the yearly premium. :)

I would not have to worry about the monthly premium and I could just focus building my website because I know the results will come eventually. And it did.

I hope this help.
Wishing you the best!

Thanks!
I'll definitely keep an eye out for that potential Black Friday sale!
I just paid my monthly fee, so I should have about 30 days to figure out what I want to do.
I always get worried about finances this time of year because my husband's work slows down in the winter, and of course there are the holidays, and utilities increase too.
I hate to put it on a credit card because I have plenty of CC debt, but if there is a good sale it may be worth it to give my business a chance.

Hi, Kate.
You are welcome and I totally understand your situation.
Revisit your goals that you set out at the beginning and you should be able to plan ahead.
Meanwhile, If you need any help just let me know. :)

Thanks so much!

Hi, Kate.

Yup, Black Friday Promotion is back. Just to update you. :)

Wishing you the best!

Thanks!

hi kate - unfortunately you cannot downgrade to a free membership after becoming premium.
if you stop your membership then your site will be kept active for 30 days. you can transfer it to another hosting, but you will lose the email - someone correct me if i am wrong.
make sure you backup and also export al of your posts, save them locally if you can.
i hope you stay a member
is there no way you can pay for a year - it's almost half price per month?
can you not do some work online to gain the money? survey filling, ghost writing website testing?
good luck with your choice
phil

Hi!
I appreciate all of your info and advice. I would love to be able to earn some money just to pay for this membership. I have a young child that I am home with full time and I work part time which basically only covers our groceries. I wish I didn't have to pinch pennies so much because I know in the long run this will pay off! Right now I work part time as an online virtual assistant for someone, but it barely pays the bills. I would have to pick up more hours somewhere which is always tricky because is means A - less time with my daughter and B - less time for WA
I've tried survey filling, but it works out to like $6/hour and you don't qualify for every survey (especially if you're low income)
How does one get involved in website testing? I just put in an application for caption writing for video
Best
Kate

website testing is similar to survey filling - it won't make you a fortune
but any of these online jobs will keep you at home, have a browse in the top search bar - there are a few members offering ideas
it is worth investing in your future - and here appears to be one of the cheapest investments - it is a shame you cannot take a holiday from payment
it will take time to set up your business but once running it will start to make you money.
can you produce ebooks to sell via clickbank? or elsewhere
can you do any copyediting for students non english speaking?
if you can get two or three people signed up you have the money for the subscription
can you make money on amazon with fba or ebay
good luck with staying
phil

Thanks for all of the ideas, I definitely appreciate it. I'll keep looking for sure. Are you saying if I get two or three people signed up for WA I'll have it covered?
I'm not familiar with Clickbank, but I'm assuming there's some marketing that needs to be done for people to buy my books?
I have my meditation malas for sale on Amazon, but having a tough time getting people to find me :) Hence being on WA

if you can get people signed up for premium then you get $22,50 each month they are here, first month $8.
can you go downtown and organise a meeting with say 20 people and try to convince them face to face to join up?
so with that rate you only need two and a bit people
or get them to go yearly an get $175
but remember not to concentrate on the money but on the benefits to the others.
meeting face to face you can answer all of their questions. Get them to click through on their phones, for each person filling in their profile you get $1 and it costs them nothing - so 47 people a month!!
produce a pamphlet about affiliating and what it could mean to them -is there a mothers and toddlers group - are there others who are in the same position as you? can you do it as a group -be careful here.
with clickbank you put your product on there and other affiliate it for you ( next step up the chain) i have not looked into costs
do you know etsy? can you use this to sell your malas?
are they on facebook? are you active in the meditation forums?
good luck
phil

Yeah, this was because Amazon and States couldn't agree on taxation. Amazon argued that it would pay tax where their business is located where states wanted taxes paid for all transactions within their given states because of the "affiliate component".

Here is one such article on this: If Amazon doesn't accept you, that will be fine. You will be OK without Amazon and in fact, I rarely use Amazon within any of my promotions because they are on the lower end of the commission scale and they only have 24 hour cookies, which are amongst the lowest I have ever heard of.

Here is some training on how you can go about finding affiliate programs in your respective niche: No need to worry here though Kate, you will be just fine.

Kyle, thank you so much, I really appreciate the information and the training! :)
My immediate thought was Amazon because I have a Handmade store for my malas (amazon.com/handmade/mindful-nesting) so I figured I could promote my malas as well as other items that fit my niche (essential oils, adult coloring books, meditation music, etc)
I'll definitely take a look at the training.
Thank so much!

Yup, you have to be an Amazon associate first. Then you can get the affiliate links to the products.

I would do both and then share the page on social media to your target audience if possible. If not to the general public.
