If you've made it through the first couple lessons in the Wealthy Affiliate Training, you already know that your content should read as though you were talking to a friend. It should be personal and friendly, while still relaying your point or recommendation.

At Wealthy Affiliate, they provide you with a tool to help you write content, which checks for spelling and grammatical errors but as with all SpellCheck tools, it doesn't catch everything.

I've read quite a few interesting blogs in the past few weeks. Some have blown my mind: I found them immensely intriguing and will continue to follow the writers for years to come. They offered tremendous knowledge in areas I was educated very little in and gained my interest.

The Quality of the Writing Leaves an Impression on the Reader

There were also some blogs that gained my interest, but could not hold it because of the quality of writing. The idea behind the writing was great: Original, unique ideas that as of then had been untouched upon. However, because the sentence structure or grammar was not correct, it was very hard to understand.

I also want to point out that when you read a blog and words are misspelled, the writer loses some credibility especially if they are writing in an area which one would expect professionalism such as healthcare or business practices.

Mistakes Happen to Everyone

Everyone understands that mistakes are made. It happens to all of us. For example, I happened to review one of my posts from last week due to some feedback I got from a fellow

Wealthy Affiliate member. He suggested that I add more pictures to my posts because as explained in the Wealthy Affiliate Training Course, we are a visual people.

So in the process of updating my post, I found a spelling error. I had typed "yor" instead of correctly typing "your". Simple typo but regardless, it had to be updated. Errors like that send a message to the reader that indicates the credibility of the writer should be questioned.

Tips for Writing Quality Content

1. Make sure the idea for the content is original. Meaning, you have personally thought of this idea and not just read it in another post somewhere.

2. Give your reader everything. Make sure that you have covered all questions that could be asked.

3. Use SpellCheck. However, SpellCheck is not the only proofreading tool out there. In addition to the SpellCheck tool within Wealthy Affiliate, you can download other programs such as Grammarly. I use this tool at work and it is very helpful.

4. Read it out loud. Read the blog out loud to yourself. Does it make sense? Sometimes when you are the writer you tend to miss mistakes that you've made, mostly because you have already read it so many times. Try asking a friend to read it as well.

I really hope that you have benefited from this post. Proofreading content is extremely important and everyone has their own methods. Please share some of your strategies for proofreading and editing content by commenting below.
