my theme has the home/front page as a static setting, Today when I logged on, it has changed to 'your latest post'. I tried to change it back to static with my home page, but m

ok, so when you choose to use the "static page" setting instead of your latest post setting, you choose one of the pages you've created to be the landing page that everyone who goes to your site would land on.

When you can go to your dashboard>Pages>All pages is the page you had been using before as your home page not showing up at all like it was deleted?

no the home page even shows up on my menu bar...but when I click the the home button it only shows post. My theme came with a home and all of my content is still there in the settings/content area but it dosnt show up on my page. setting it to static seems like an easy option, only it dosnt give 'home' as an option to set it

So you had a page that you created that you titled "Home" and you were using it as your static page. now instead it's showing your latest posts and when you go to switch it back to the static page it doesn't show the Home page you created at all in the drop down as an option...

Have you tried restarting your machine and checking again? Sometimes a little glitch will happen and when you restart the machine it fixes itself and your page will be available again in the static page drop down menu where it's suppose to be.

correct its not shown on the 'pages' so that I can click on it to make it a static page. however it is showing on my page and also I can still edit it and add content to the page
www.workingfromhome101.com if you can take a look. thank you so much. I'm so lost :-(

And when you say you can edit the old home page and content, is the title of that editable page "Home" or does it have another title?

it says I'm customizing working from home 101 (the name of my site) and showing the home page

and it has all the options to customize my home page...like the slider and main heading settings, featured area ect

AND.....I'm looking at all of my content and setting I had for my home page. Its just sitting there taunting me lol

Ok so you're in the customize area, but you said you have a page ready to go to be set as your static home page, right? and that page's title is what?

[Home]...the page is showing up on the website but it is missing the picture, content, slider and links I set up. (it has always been there before) I logged in today and it was all gone. now it just show post. but my content is saved under the settings for the page just not showing on the page.

Do me a favor and go to your dash and then to pages and then to all pages. It'll have a list of the pages you've made. Can you take a snapshot of that? It'll look something like this.

it dosnt show on here

here is where all of my content is for the home page I'm trying to display. if I click on those links all content is still there thank god

this pic might help. it shows all the pages on the website. the 'home' link says [custom link]

Ok so you were saying you had a page titled "home" that was ready to go as your static page, but I can see you don't have a page made with that title. That list of pages is exactly what the "static page" option drop down menu shows as a list of options right?. That's because those are your options.

What you have to do is, if you want to use a static page as the landing page, you need to create a page and fill it with whatever you want, and you can title it whatever you want, and that content will end up in the white space below your menu right where "sorry no posts matched your criteria" if you want to use a static page. You'd just need to select that page after you create it from the drop down menu options in the static page settings.

The last pic you showed me is your theme customizer. That's where you can tweak the look of your page, but it's not where you create any content for a home page.

That "home" link needs to be set to a page that you create. You haven't done that yet.

I did make the page...it was gorgouse...it was here yesterday lol. if that page isn't my home page then what is it and how to I get it back?

here is some of my content that is missing.. it shows up in the settings but not on the site

Yeah, you're just putting content into the wrong areas. You're in the customizer which is where u can change menus, change the look of your blog title, add a custom image to the top of your blog, change link colors...that kind of stuff.

That's not where you create a home page.

It looks like that paragraph you have on the left side is what you want as content for your home page right? Copy that, then go to pages, add a new page, and paste that paragraph into it. You can title this new page Home if you want, and when you're finished setting it up and adding to it just as you like, you'll save it, publish it, then go to the static page settings, pull down the drop down menu for which page to use as your static page, and you'll select it and you're done.

Here's kyle's video on creating a static page that should give u a pretty good idea. He uses the dashboard settings instead of the settings from within the theme, but it's the same idea. I really hope this helps u. I'm sorry if I'm confusing u even more. If I was there next to u this would be easier but I'm way over here in Texas at 3 in the morning lol. Im sorry lol.

Get back to me when you have it figured out I want to see all this work have a happy ending! Lol

I guess the customizer Is what I'm talking about (when I clicked on the home button it took me to the landing page with all of the sliders, pics, links and content I wrote) what would make that change to a posting page instead? all of what I wrote is still there but not showing

lol i would be in bed right now but this is keeping me awake. i know how to do the static page, i just think I'm asking the wrong question. be page used to look something like this....im trying to figure out what happened to my theme i guess. if u go to my website you can see the picture and details on the first page are gone. i guess the question i need to ask is why are my theme settings not working (on my home page)

also thank you for taking the time to help me. maybe i should take a crack at this tomorrow lol
