Amazon Associates Not The Only Game In Town
I would like to say that I love Amazon for the many benefits that I receive from them. They are one of my go-to favorite websites when checking prices on items that I am considering buying. However, Amazon Associates is not the only game in town.
For one, Amazon is very good to use when starting your initial comparing of prices, and finding pros and cons of an item. I use to use them as one of several vendors when listing products on my website. That was of course BEFORE Louisiana voted and passed legislation to tax Internet sales commissions.
Amazon Associates dropped me like a hot potato. They gave me a 60 day grace period of their intentions of closing my account because of what my State was proposing to do. It was kinda out of my control anyway.
As I said earlier Amazon was not the only program that I used when listing products on my website. Amazon is lacking on several fronts. They may be the biggest retailer in America, but they are not the best.
Always Join More Than One Program
When I first started in Internet Marketing, I used Rakuten Marketing. This company used to be known as Linkshare, but now I believe it is called Rakuten linkshare. This affiliate program has a huge selection of different vendors and affiliate programs that offer products in almost every niche. To take advantage of this one-stop program, you simply join and become a member, complete your account profile, all for free.
Each vendor has their own set rules, varied commission percentages, and how to link to their products. Some of these vendors allow PPC advertising, others don't. It is a very good program to join and most applicants are accepted. I highly recommend them.
Another program that I recommend is ShareASale. This program probably is the biggest network with hundreds of vendors that cover most niches. It is also very easy to join and has a higher commission sales base than Amazon in some niches.
You can never have too many vendors to choose from. More is better because it allows you to bargain to get the best deal.

I agree. You are very right Michael. Never limit yourself to just one supplier. It's not fair to you or your customers.

Thanks, Ken, for this helpful information. I have been working on Rakuten but have not got there yet. I messed up and was already a member and forgot and then tried to join but it was UK by mistake and anyway, it is taking some time to get it fixed. I recently wanted to add a couple more affiliate programs from ShareASale, but my account was restricted to just the programs I already had. I wrote them asking them for permission to add more affiliate programs to my account. All I was asked to do was show verification of my website and contact email of my website. I was confirmed the next day and now I am able to expand to more programs to all four websites that I have. I had been restricted to just one website. I'm a happy man.

Which of these have you made money from?
I have made money with all three affiliate programs, Ratuken, ShareASale, and Amazon. My two favorite are, of course, Ratuken and ShareASale.
