I'm wondering about their customer support and any issues you experienced with your website? Think of using them.

You should be able to get some feedback on wordpress.org from people who have used this. Check out the support Q&A to see how many threads have been started and compare the number to the solutions.

Great idea!

If you are intending on hosting your ecommerce site with WA hosting, before you get in too deep, you might want to put in a support ticket and check if volusion plugins/themes are compatible with WA hosting.

Unless, of course, other members come along here to say that they are hosting it at WA and it works. ~Jude

I'm hosted at ipage because I needed to access some external databases and WA doesn't allow outgoing connections. For most of my websites that's fine, but this is a store so I had to jump ship. WA definitely has the better support, I'll say that.

Glad you know that. Just wanted to be sure. Sorry I can't offer any other feedback as I am not familiar with Volusion. ~Jude

I want to add an image to my home page and the only way I can accomplish that with my theme is to use HTML. What I want is for the text to be on top and centered like a title, w

Great information, thanks for the question. I know about the image but not the text, so I learnt something here... Appreciate it, Christy. ;) Jewel Carol

Well... thank Angela. The way she went about it was cool and now I know!

Yes, you are right. Btw, my name is Jewel Carol. :)

I was saying "Thanks to Angela," but hello Jewel :)

Oh, I see, sorry. :)

Wow what awesome information! :)

What a perfect strategy Angela, I think I will use it to make changes as well

sorry i can't help you but i see you have quite the support already :)

That should do it for you :)

Share in Mr. Bo-Bo's great adventures and have a tail-waggin' good time!

Mr. Bo-Bo meets a turkey

Well Angela for some one who confesses to hate HTML code you sure seem to know your stuff

Barry

lol, that was easy, I just took the code she gave and put it into my page (text side)
removed the text and put it on its own line, went over to visual side
then highlighted the text, clicked the center align button,
then clicked the pic and hit the center align button
then back to text side, highlighted everything and pasted here.
I didn't 'write" anything lol

Angela = Victory Post Success!

That worked!

Yay!

Yes! I checked it out and it looks terrific! Angela is a rock star ;)

Where did that come from...Lol! :))

Maybe, in a round about way, from grief. I'm doing everything I cannot to think about her too much.

Thank you for the information, greatly appreciated.

I know, it will get a little less painful over the coming days. In the mean time keep up with a smile and try to feel at peace for her. :))

Angela, I don't believe you writing code,

lol, you got that right, I didn't!

That's makes sense, I just use the edit on the photo and select center. Probably trying to move the pic manually which doesn't work.

She just fessed up...Lol...:))

I'm kinda getting the hang of code - in very teeny tiny baby steps!
I still don't like putting stuff in the themes because I'm afraid I'll mess it up permanently!
But I can usually look at one all ready written and if I know what it does the way it is written, I can probably figure out what to change and make it do what I want it to do. Not always - but sometimes! lol

If I really wanted to I would, but its a mind boggling just starring it down...someone said they put 4 X's in a row so they keep track of where they are at and then they delete them. It works well, especially if you have a page full of it and your trying to edit something out and enter something new. Lol...

I do that too lol. To make sure when I go to the text side, that I know I'm putting it right where I want it

Cool! I have a whole page of text I am getting ready to rework. I don't like my trending products page and I figured out..which I should have investigated this earlier...how to put larger pics of the product on the page using Amazon's site. I used the HTML image links and they are small. I have the text link which is good enough, now I can get the image from the main product screen after I click on it....I tried it before without doing that and it didn't work...Just figured that out a while ago..Too funny, I crack myself up sometimes, always the easy things that elude me. :))

I know what you mean lol. You'll have to tell me about that one tomorrow. It's too late for me to retain anything else lol. Or send steps in PM. I need that for my Pin-Tastic! pages I made.

Okay, sounds good. Going to take a break for a bit and decide if I want to tackle that yet tonight...not sure. :))

I've been waiting to see what answers you get, too, Kristy as I simply don't know. I like Bob's coding. Looks like it would work well. Gwynn's table suggestion looks great, too. I full-well expect your next post to be a victory post!!!

I'm the last person to ask about images, so I'm just spying on the answers you get. I promise not to take up too much space. ;)

Hi Kristy =] I checked out your site last night and want to give you kudos on your creativity, the fun factor of your books, and all you've accomplished so far! I almost hate to comment on your issue because my site isn't built yet, but I have built a few websites in the past using html only, so here goes...
Have you tried inserting a one-column, two-line table and centering the text in the top cell, then centering the photo in the bottom cell? This worked for me in the sites i built years ago, but it may be just a shot in the dark. I'm sure someone with vast html skills will answer your question shortly! Keep up the great work - Mr. Bo-Bo is awesome :)

Oh thank you! I haven't used tables either but that is a thought. I'll see if there is a code I can use first but it nothing works I'll give the table idea a shot.

Crud, I really can't do the table.... that's the problem, in this theme, in order to add a pic to the homepage it has to be HTML, there's no insert media and no insert table.

There is no insert table because to create a table you have to write the code for a table

Barry

Tried that before Angela's answer and it almost worked

My thought would be to create two

elements rather than combining the text and image into one.
The first would be:

Share in Mr. Bo-Bo's great adventures and have a tail-waggin' good time!

Then the image would go in a second paragraph:

Mr. Bo-Bo meets a turkey

That was very close to what I wanted, thanks!

Like Maxwell Smart used to say: Missed it by THAT MUCH. :=)

That second set of

should have been a
pair instead.

Sorry about that.

No problem, I appreciate the help. It's closer than I was!

And I love that show - used to work at Johnson Space Center, and when I was going through multiple sets of double doors and up and down three sets of stairs I would hum that theme song all the time.

Yes, I know people have asked this question before but since the WA community is always expanding, and different people respond to different questions, I figured I would put it

I wonder if there's a chance WA will ever add an email auto responder service. Sure would be convient.

That would be cool

im sure monthly fee would go up as well

probably

Great information! :) Thank you for asking, lol!

I've used Aweber. I use Rocketresponder now. Good features and price is per 10,000 subscribers and not per 500. Also 30 day free trial.

I recomment TrafficWave
Cost wise they do not charge more as your list grows
Awber and Get Resonse do. Just my thought.

AWeber. It helps with easy to complete forms for newsletters (they call them broadcasts) and thank you emails when they sign up.

Great question that really never gets old. My traffic has very steadily been increasing and I already feel very late to the game to get a mailing list started. However, I don't have content for that list ready yet. Should I just sign up and get things going for the list, collect the names and distribute the content and recommendations, as it is ready? Perhaps people will like the fact that they are not getting bombarded with emails from me right away? I am thinking about aweber or possibly mailchimp because of an awesome plugin I found through appsumo. Any feedback from anyone is appreciated, thanks!

Howie

It's never too early to start collecting for your list. They aren't going to remove themselves from your list if you aren't e-mailing them right away. In your situation I would work on content for the e-mails as soon as I could, but snatch up as many e-mails as possible. They can be like gold if handled properly! Good luck!

I think that sounds like solid advice. It can't hurt to start collecting the names. I guess my concern was getting too overwhelmed trying to create content for the site and the emails and collecting before I was truly "ready." However, I guess I can virtually decide when I am ready and outside if I decide to offer something in return for them signing up, I am sure most people will be happy not to be receiving email after email, which would hopefully make the ones they do receive more enticing to actually open. Thanks for the feedback!

AWeber again, If there is a better one, I'd be really surprised.

I have been very happy with aweber! M

I've never used any of them, but I always hear about Aweber. I've heard a lot of good but not much bad about them. Good Luck!

I say Aweber...hands down. They've been good to me thus far.

Sounds like there is a lag in your update. Do you have a cache plugin running. Deactivate that or clear your browser Cache. See if the site updates then.

If all else fails you could submit a support ticket!

I'm having trouble with Captch on my comments form as well. Sorry I can't help, for now I've just left it without.

You should just put it on the page you want it on first, like your contact page, if I recall I just put it on the bottom of the page. Then go to the left tool bar in edit mode and near the bottom listed under plugins. Select SI Captcha Options and you will have a list of selections to check and enable for certain comments section on your site along with other choices.
Hope this helps you out.
Kim

If you look at my blog you'll see what I mean, it's just all wonky. I don't know how to fix the format.

I see what you mean, half of it is missing. Not sure, you may just see if tech support can help with that.

I want Google fonts (or a good variety) and have tried a bunch of plugins but they never seem to work (or more likely I don't understand them). I need something EASY, plug and p

It's not simple but you can change fonts with HTML like this:
This is some text!

I had been doing text

But one of the things my SEO score was dinged for was too much code so I pared down from three primary fonts to two. Not sure it made a difference.

I have heard this is a good font plugin:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-google-fonts/

Tried that one... it works as an overall template. I can change certain font attributes from my Appearance-Customize menu, but there's no drop down for a blog. It's like a blanket solution, and it's the best of what I've tried, but I'm still looking for something different.

Oh so you're looking for a plugin that you can pick a font for specific content?

If so I'm not aware of one - sorry

Yeah... seems like such a simple thing... I found one drop down but it's just got basic fonts, still better than nothing. Of course that dropdown replaced my header dropdown, but I understand how to code that so it's not so bad.
