You can go through the back door, but it is so convenient to login into WA; then websites and log into yours.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to input your username and password manually when you can so quickly login right here WA at the touch of a button?
I've always logged in via Site Manager. Never once have I even thought of going through another entrance.

there were a fair few when the platform updated to its current guise...
there were lots of members coming on at various times saying they couldn't get access ot the platform ( so how did they post....hmmmm.)
but it has been known when there are major changes...

the only way to get access to your sites was from outside wa....
i've obviously been working on a different platform than you since 2016 and have had a fair few outages....
can i join your platform....i would prefer no outages....
Use website.com/wp-admin and the username and password from WA (substituting your actual website name, of course). It's how I log in to all of my websites.
you can log into wordpress with whatever username ans password you set up with wordpress.com....
what you use on your site is not wordpress.com but wordpress.org ( the program)
so to log into your site all you do is to add /wp-admin at the end of your url...
and enter your username and password...
wordpress.com is a hosting company not the program you use on your site....they did this just to confuse people....

You can login to [domain].com/wp-admin, however you need collect your credentials via site manager.
Of course replacing domain with yours.
You can also add users and give them privileges going forward. However they can also login independently, you have to collect their credentials via site manager
