WA Affiliate Program
Updated

Hi,

There seems to be a new feature on the WA dashboard. I can see my WA affiliate program stats, and it seems I have received 32 clicks on my content. What does it mean

Thank you for the replies for everyone. I was aware you get credit as the referrer if someone signs up to WA through my content.

I was surprised, though, that my content in WA has actually received clicks. Because not all my blog posts in WA are necessarily well optimized for SEO. But this makes me think maybe I should optimize them more, if even now I'm getting some clicks.

Thanks for your question. I learned something today.

Yes, and it is AWESOME, Kirsti!

Jeff

It is great to have more information as to what kind of following you are getting from WA.

Hi,

I've been contacted by couple of influencers on Instagram. They are in the same niche as I am. One of them suggested me to get a shoutout from them. I said I might b

This depends upon what they want. I get a TON of 'help google rank and gain Instagram followers' spam and email spam on my accounts. Those I NEVER trust.

But if they're in the same niche I'm in, giving a shoutout if I think their Instagram content is awesome, that's okay. I've gotten shoutout's from a cat product I really liked, I tagged them with pictures of my cats playing with it, or followers who I've helped with give a shoutout to me and don't ask for one back. All my shoutouts are for a reason, but getting them is awesome. Giving shoutouts that isn't relevant or paid shoutouts isn't encouraged. It might get you some followers, but if it isn't an organic and relevant, those followers aren't going to engage. It's better to have engagement than a ton of followers that don't.

As for links, people will ask if you want to link to a specific article of theirs in one of your articles. THIS is okay as they're just bringing their article to your attention and it might be relevant to my audience, except a LOT of those requests don't understand my niche and ask me to link to a dog article when that makes no sense with my feral cat niche, they'll even mention the article they think it will improve by linking. This is a method used by Neil Patel. If someone is linking to a competitor and you think your article is better, emailing the webmaster to bring the article to their attention is okay. Paying people to link to your website is not. And one link back is okay, say you decide to share the article that links to yours on Facebook with a shoutout in thanks for including you.
But multiple organized ones? That will be fishy to Google.

Does that help?

Thank you for your reply! The person who suggested me to get a shoutout on their Instagram account, that was a paid shoutout. A cheap one, but obviously not a free one. I haven't gone for it, because I'm not sure this person has 100% organic following.

Probably wise! Unless you pay for a sponsored post (which can be expensive and is perfectly legitimate because sponsored posts are marked as sponsored) than I definitely wouldn't do it. Usually people like us are the ones paid for a sponsored post by a product, not the other way around.

hey hi Kirsti ...

best to go with your intuition .... it sounds like you're doing well and already successful with your niche to be approached ....

however, it is best to proceed with caution as shown with your question here ....

you are your own best guide .... continue to do your 'due diligence' and even then, there's no guarantees ...

and you've already experienced search engine challenges ...

listen to your best self ... and here at Wealthy Affiliate, everything is pretty much already available to you in terms of tools, training, resources and an awesome WA community of members who are happy to help ... and we are here with you now....

best to carry onward and if this 'person' is still interested upstream at a different point in time when YOU feel you need the extra lift by linking ... then that's up to you ...

ultimately, do the Best for You! .... ok? ... :)

Thank you for your reply! Yes, I have access to the resources in WA and elsewhere online, even got an audiobook on Instagram marketing. So I don't think I'm running out of training any time soon.

I think my intuition says no to these influencers. I might have taken the offer for the shoutout, since it's quite cheap. But I'm not convinced this influencer has enough engagement, so I think I won't go for it.

Yeah, everyone thinks of themselves and their business in social media, so I'm gonna do the same.

... yes, the online world is still 'a virtual one' ...

... and back in a different day and age, business partnering is challenging enough in the offline world, making something work over longer term in the online world is a wee bit more circumspect for many people ... so you're right to be more careful with who you are working with...

... sure keep us posted of how it's all going for you ...

... keep well ... and stay happy & strong ....

all the very best to you for every Success, cheerio .... 😉🎉

I think you are absolutely right to be cautious Kiranoppa. Sorry tp hear of your Google penalty experience.

Have a great day.

Trevor

Thanks Trevor, you too! The situation with Google is getting better now, they seem to have "forgiven" me after I removed the one blog post.

I´m very pleased to hear it.

Best Regards,

Trevor

Do your own research, and do not jump in fast. the link you were given below earlier is a good one.

Hi, I suggest you do your own due diligence, check them up thoroughly before entering into any agreements.

Are they publicised elsewhere perhaps on youtube, do they have their own blogs, if this sounds too good to be true, probably it isn't.

People who are in a hurry usually have a foul purpose, really genuine influencers do not come by that way.

Do check resource below

Thank you for the link! Yes, I think many people actually contact real influencers, so they don't even need to contact their followers and try to get co-operation with them. I'm quite suspicious about the people who contacted me, so I think I'm just gonna say no,

All the best, let us know how you get on.

I can't seem to find the address of the incoming server of my site e-mail. I only see the e-mail outgoing server which is smtp.siterubix.com, but how about the incoming e-mail

The site support said I can't access my incoming server address, because I have redirected my e-mail to my Gmail. So I have to delete my e-mail address to see the incoming server address.

Thanks for posting this question, Kirsti.
I'm also enlightened by the answers.
God bless y'all,

Hi Kirsti, I just did what Phil mentioned in his comment as I did not know who was the e-mail incoming server. Thank you for asking the question.

Best wishes,
Michael

teh incoming is you sitename
if you goto your email tab in sitemanager and clcik on smtp settings it is the hostname - your sitename....
hope that helps

I asked, but since they're not answering I thought I'd ask the community. This might be general information someone knows. Oh well, they will probably answer soon.

It seems many people think that the more posts you have on your website, the better. But sometimes, there are old posts that are no longer relevant to our websites. It might be

Hi!

i have a file on my PC where I keep old content.

Why not create a folder on your PC and put the old content in there. When you create new content you can always go back there and see how you wrote before or reuse a kepword sentence or just see your progress.

I generally write my article/post on word then copy them into the website editor. this way I save my staff for further referral automatically.

This is a really great question, I have not written many post to my WA website yet, but if I you accumulated post such as you have and they became irrelevant, yes I would agree and I would delete them. I have not deleted any for my WA website but I am in full agreement of what you are doing.

Not yet, but I ma sure in due course I will.

Yes, you can delete your no longer relevant content but there are some other things you can consider to do with your old content. Take a read at this article by Yoast.

Hi guys,

I was just wondering, are you writing an April fool post on your website? I mean, something that is not real, and later reveal it was April fool?

I have an

I am not, but I think it depends on your niche, your personality, and what exactly the post is.

It also depends on how much of a relationship you have with your readers. If you already have a good relationship and a well-established site, I would think it would go over better.

It's your fault! I just spent half a hour checking out youtube and giphy for some fun things to post on my site tomorrow rather than finishing up the lesson I was working on!

Ha ha, sorry about that. :D

Nope... April Fools has been cancelled this year. We are already living a nightmare, the last thing anyone wants to see online is something that is untrue.

Oh, has it really been cancelled this year? If that's the case, then I may not go for an April fool post.

Hi Kirsti, I personally do not have any plans to do an April's fool post. As long as it is not related to COVID-19, I can not see any problem. People are nervous at this time though.

Best wishes,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your reply! I think it depends on the niche too, whether you can come up with an appropriate April fool. For a more "serious" niche it may not be such a good idea, but I think it would fit my unicorn website.

Besides, I already have some totally fictitious stuff on my website; I have "interviewed" a unicorn several times etc. :D

Hi Kirsti,
How did that interview with the unicorn go.

Hey there Kirsti!

I had no immediate plans to do any sorta April Fools Day posts, but perhaps we could all use a bit of levity in our lives these glum pandemic-inundated days, so I'm interested to see what kinda ideas you & other WAers come up with?

Hey,

Yeah, I was thinking people could use a laugh these days. The idea I have in mind is writing fake news about a real unicorn skeleton which has been found.
