Please Love Me Again, Google.

Do you ever feel like Google has decided your website won't get ranked for certain keywords, no matter what you do? I'm starting to feel like it.

The keywords that would bring 1,000 visitors per month, if I ranked on page 1. Google seems to have decided my website definitely won't be ranked on page 1 or 2 for those keywords.

And these are not highly competitive keywords. They are low QSR keywords. Just high traffic keywords.

There was a time, when I felt like Google loved my website. I was getting lots of pages 1 rankings. Now, I have a feeling Google has something against me.

My website is 8 months old and I have more than 50 posts. So, it's not like I have a new website.

I updated one of my older posts. I changed the URL too, and I let Google know about it.

Yesterday, Google had ranked me on page 6 or something for that post. Today, Google had removed this post from rankings altogether, and it wasn't found on any page of the search result.

It was as if Google had told me: "You won't get ranked for this one, it would bring you waaay too much traffic!"

And it's not just the high traffic keywords. Recently, I haven't ranked for the low traffic keywords either. OK, I have ranked for couple of keywords on page 3 or so, but not on page 1 or 2.

OK, this was a bit of a rant, but I just had to let it out. I hope Google will love me again. I hope we can get our relationship back to the right direction before Valentine's day.

Have you had any downswings on your relationship with Google? Please let me know how you got over it. Did Google show you some love again?

Hi Kirsti
When you figure out how to get Google to love you could you please share the secret with me too!

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

I will! I thought I had already figured out the secret, but Google is very moody.

Congrats, Kirsti! It never gets old! 😎👍👍

Thank you. There's not much to congratulate about, though, when Google doesn't love you. But thanks anyway. :D Maybe Google will warm up for me again.

I have no doubt that fickle Google will come around again!😊

It seems hard to maintain a stable relationship with Google.
But persistence may change the tide.

Exactly, it seems hard to keep an ongoing uphill with Google. But I won't give up.

Pls love me again and again too, Google...

On 13th of January 2020, Google announced the roll-out of its first broad core algorithm update of 2020. This could be the reason your website and many other people's websites find their ranking changed.

Oh no, another Google update! The previous update seemed to have a positive effect on my rankings, but I'm not sure about this one.

Ultimately Google is in the business of providing relevant results that has good quality to searchers.

I have many websites and posts/pages on page 1. Even today, after the major algorithm update, the pages and websites are still at Page 1.

As long as you provide that, and keep creating high quality and relevant content, your website will eventually get ranked well.
