Experimenting With Social Medias - I May Have Found The One For Me

I´m in the social media part of the OEC training now. OK, I probably should have "graduated" from the OEC training already, considering my "WA-age". :D But I´ve taken it slow with the training, because my priority is publishing content regularly. I´m publishing also between the training tasks.

Anyway, using social media for business purposes was completely new to me, and I wasn't very active with social media even as a private person. So, I have made quite many social media mistakes already. And that´s OK, because we learn from mistakes!

My Rocky Relationship With Pinterest

The first one I started with was Pinterest. I was excited at first, because I had heard how profitable Pinterest is. Being an amateur, I ended up getting banned from Pinterest right away, but I was allowed to get back.

Someone in WA also wrote you're supposed to do "follow and unfollow campaign" in Pinterest, so I did. It didn't bring many followers, though. I don't recommend this strategy. It makes you look pretty desperate.

Experimenting With Other Social Medias

I did make a FB-page for my website too. I haven't exactly been active there. I also made a Twitter account.

Jay´s live training on Instagram made me realize I must try Instagram. My target group is there. Also, I had a private IG account, but I was hardly posting anything on it. Still, I had some followers. It seemed like getting followers in IG is easy.

I changed my IG account into a business account. But I'm keeping it kind of casual, like you´re supposed to in Instagram. This way, I can still follow my friends and they may still want to follow me too, because I don't seem spammy.

Instagram - Are You The One For Me?

Making my IG-account a semi-casual business account is motivating me to spend more time in Instagram. I had no good enough reason to be active there as a private person only, if you know what I mean. I did like seeing my friends' posts, but I didn't bother posting anything myself.

Having an IG business account allows me to post stuff like pictures of a crochet unicorn I made. This is related to my niche, yet it´s not too commercial to drive my friends away.

So, it seems IG is my go-to social media platform. I'm still keeping my website's FB page, but I didn't see a point to continue using Pinterest and Twitter. I wasn't having fun with them, and if you're not having fun, other people are probably going to notice it too.

The point of this post is, that nobody has time for every social media. You just got to try what works for you and your business.

What are your experiences with using social media for your business? Which social media has worked best for you? Is there any social media you were disappointed with and gave up on?

I watched Jay's IG training last month and am building my IG business account now. IG has some really cool tools that will help us affiliate marketers.
Pinterest is the only social media platform that drives traffic to our blogs/websites. All the other platforms want you to stay on their site.
F Facebook. If your political views don't jibe with Zuckerburg, then none of your friends see anything you post anyway.
They, Google, and YouTube are back in Federal court again this week. PragerU is suing them for censoring their videos, which they are guilty of.

I was also excited first, that Pinterest drives traffic to your website. But I was disappointed with the results. I didn't get almost any traffic from there. I had hundreds of views per PIN, but most of them didn't get any clicks to my website.

I have both an I G account and a Pinterest one. For running an online business, Pinterest is by far the best. But it does tend to undergo great fluctuations. The key is to continually follow people from similiar niches, and to build enough boards and add three to five pins to every board , every day. At my peak I was getting 60,000 unique impressions a month. This led to nearly 1000 visitors to my site every month. With IG I was going along at a good rate and suddenly it stalled at around 350o followers. Nothing I do has been able to increase the momentum. Jim

That´s the thing, you need to be consistent. I´m not able to use Pinterest daily. I just can't make the time.
