An Amateur Mistake - Banned From Pinterest
So, I just started using Pinterest for my business yesterday, and I probably got a bit too excited about it. I made some pins, but probably the mistake I made was that I followed too many people. I watched a training and learned you need to follow people.
Well, it was mentioned you get banned if you follow too many people, but how are you supposed to know when the limit is up?
So, I got banned from Pinterest within 48 hours. Total failure, and all the great pins I made in vain!
Or will the account be available again?? They didn't even say anything about how long the ban is, or is it forever??
Social media promoting failed before even started.

I had the same thing happen to me. I tried contacting them numerous times, pleading that I'd follow their TOU. Never heard back from them. But a week later my account was restored and I was free to pin to my heart's content, once again. Hopefully, that'll happen for you.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I would contact them and try to sort it out. Hopefully, only a short ban or maybe they will lift it now. Once you explain. I wish you the best of luck.
Now I actually made a new business account! I think the ban was automatic. I won´t repeat the same mistakes. Also, my business account is linked to my private account, and my private account wasn't banned. So I just made a new business account via my private account.
I think Pinterest is automated and there´s no much of customer service. They ban you automatically if you exceed set limits, like follow too many people in a short period of time.
I wonder if I should add some pins without a link to my website too? Pins with a link to your website should be directly related to certain post.
I have made pins that are related to my posts, but I´d like to made some pins that are not. Like unicorn quotes. They could still bring followers and visitors to my website. After all, my website link is in my profile anyway.
Following aggressively on Twitter or Pinterest or Instagram can end up problematic to your profile. You can follow people as much as you want but there are some etiquette to follow too. Follow people on weekly basis I'd prefer a max of 100-150 and do not exceed this mark and your will be fine with any social network.
Ok thanks for your advice. I watched a training here on WA and it was said in that training you should follow 100-150 people a day, but not all at once. i wonder if that was a good advice, after all.
Kirsti,
So sorry to hear that happened to you.
May I ask, what is your niche or products you market?
I may have a few ideas or platforms to suggest to you which may perhaps not be as widely disseminated as Pinterest but which do get a lot of experts' eyes on.
Blessings!
Oh Dear...I didn't know that could happen. I am not sure if it goes away in time...or how it works. Best of luck and thank you for the warning...wow. I would maybe try to open a different Pinterest account, maybe with a different email?
I opened a new account already, with the same e-mail, though. I hope this one won´t gt banned if I´m more careful now. I guess they automatically ban you if you exceed some limit.
I am banned permanently from AdSense, for something I did not do, so I know the feeling, it hurts. Have you contacted them and explained? Ask them how long you will be banned. Hope you get it sorted and they let you back in 😃
There was just a link you can click to ask them re-evaluate. I think the notification e-mail was automatic. I clicked on it but actually I made a new business account, so I should be ok. Sorry to hear that happened to you with AdSense. :(

Hi Kiristi,
Do not think of this as a failure, or the pins you made were in vain.
Your ban should be considered a temporary setback. I know it is easy for me to say. I have been there too.
Pinterest should have some sort of a notification as to the amount of followers you are allowed.
They failed you. Please contact their support team. They can be slow to answer, at least they were for me.
Eventually I was back up and running again as you will be.
Unfortunately somethings are learned the hard way, in no way was it your fault. They have to recognize this.
Wishing you the best,
Michael
