What is your minimum searches and traffic while doing keyword research?

Below 100 for competition and above 50 for searches

I see some confusion in the discussion. The traffic obtained from keyword tool is per day, assuming the post is ranked on the top page. But how many will be ranked on the top page?

Now, this is all fluid because ranked on position 1 and 10 is very different, so it is not clear what such a definition implies. On the other hand, I am pretty sure that this number (as an estimate) is far from reality otherwise I would have 10 times more traffic in the site.

Searches are per month are this is more exact because it is based on real numbers.

I've always followed what Kyle describes in the training and go from there. Competition from 0-300 is the bar you should probably set. Then as you search, anything showing competition under 100 is of course better, and 0-50 is great. If the traffic is anything >10 on a low competition site it's worth it.

I'm confused on 10+ traffic a month being worth it. That just seems like an insanely small number. If only 10 people are visiting my website a month it doesn't seem like I'll be making much money from that website.

Well if you only had one article for your whole site and it's receiving 10 hits a month you're right. You'd be sitting pretty sadly lol.

But just like Kyle teaches, when you have 25, 50, 75, 100+ posts and let's say each was only getting 10 hits a month, now your traffic is 250, 500, 750, 1000 per month, see what I mean?

What Kyle means when he teaches us about low hanging fruit being worth it is that, especially in the beginning, if you're building your site with low competition keywords going after competition under 100 and traffic around 15 or 20, this is absolutely worth it. That traffic adds up post by post.

If you're going after keywords with traffic of 500-1000, guess what, the competition is usually much greater as well, and it's harder for a young site to rank with those keywords and your site gets lost in the back pages of google.

Now I'm not saying to just go after traffic of 10, do your best to find the best keywords, but to start, don't blow off a keyword with competition of say 20 if it has a low competition of say 7. If it's right next to another one with traffic of 680 and the traffic is 297, I'd go with the competition of 7 personally.

Ultimately that traffic number means nothing if your site isn't seen, right? :) You just have to do your best to do diligent keyword research and as long as you follow Kyle's training, you're going to ultimately be alright. He's the man!

Thank you very much for the reply!

Okay I think i'm starting to understand what your'e saying. I thought your entire website traffic depended on that one keyword but now I know that you can have different keywords for every post or topic inside of your website and thats how it adds up? Did I understand that correctly??
So I probably want to load my website with different topics?
Am I heading in the right direction? Lol

Every single post is going to be working around a specific keyword. You'll post about all kinds of things all relevant to your niche. Kyle goes over everything, don't worry. He walks you through all the content creation. Stick with the training and you'll be just fine :) Keyword research is great and a real eye opener. It totally changed how I go about picking topics to write about. You're headed in the right direction :)
