I haven't posted an article for a while now, until recently, and have now posted two in a week. Can anyone tell me how I can get some comments going on these articles please?

Hi, I am looking for some comments on two new posts.

https://bestnewhealth.com/live-longer-without-starving-yourself/
https://bestnewhealth.com/how-to-live-long-and-healthy/

I shall return the favor, thank you.

Kyles latest training on comments. :)

Cheers Kathy, I'll take a look at this right now. Hope you're well?

I am thank you and the sun is shining, all is well. )

Hi Stephen
Many thanks for your response to my 'help' request, I appreciate it. I'll take a look at the link you sent me. I also took a look at your profile and noticed that you're a NYC based writer. I'm also a writer, you can take a look at my writer's web site here: ==> http://Ian-McKay.com

You may also wish to take a look at my "Playing with words" articles, here on W A. You might be able to use some of my stuff in N Y C, as I think that the sense of humour there is similar to that of my home town in the UK, Liverpool. Thanks again for your help Steve!

It will take a while before you get organic comments, but you can use this useful tool, here at WA!

I want to create a new user, with administrator rights and email. This is because I wish to give someone access to my dashboard/c/panel etc', so that she can help me solve a sit

Marion and Valerie, my two guardian angels, I thank you both very much! Marion, I received your PM, thank you, and as soon as I have carried out the steps, I will PM you again.

It seems that, since I came out from the anaesthetic after my operation, my thinking isn't as clear a it was, and I can't concentrate properly. Once again, thank you ladies!

Glad to have been of some help. Hope you get that anaesthetic out of your system. I don't like not being able to concentrate. :)

Course 2, Lesson 8 covers this. I just covered this today. :) Hope this helps.

1: Create a New User
Your first task is going to be creating a New User on your website. This is going to be the Author that you write within going forward and that you will be logging into your Wordpress site with.

You can create new users at any time within the Users tab inside your WP-admin area.

You can use your real name (first name) or you can use a Pen Name. It is my personal preference to use my real first name when creating Users as I am trying to brand myself as an authority within the given niche and it will come across as more natural if you are do use your real name, but there will be some circumstances or niches that some folks do use Pen Names (which is fine as well).

Note: Make sure you make your new user an "admin" and make sure that you create a password that is a prhase, not a single word.

Task 2: Update the Author for ALL of your Posts/Pages
Now that you have created the new user, you are going to want to go into all of your current pages and posts that you have created thus far and update the Author to your new user.

To do this, you will want to click on the Pages and Posts menu items to access the respective content:

Then, from there you will get a list of all your pages/posts. You will want to click the Quick Edit button.

Upon clicking this, you will be able to Edit the Author to your new user that you have just created. Select the author and then click Update.

Do this for each and every page and post that you have created.

Note: When you log into your Wordpress website going forward, all of the content you create will naturally be posted under your new User and the authors can always be edited after the fact.

In the next lesson, we are going to be taking your Author status to a whole new dimension and I am going to be showing you how to connect this to Google so that you can maximize your index speeds (in the search engines) and boost your rankings!

Thank you so much for posting this. He couldn't ask me because I'd already gone to bed (I'm in Australia). Your instructions worked because I was able to go in and check things out for him. ~Marion

You welcome! I just did a copy and paste from Kyle's lesson. I am glad it worked.

I love your question Kingfisher - I am the same - please just give it to me in simple language like you're talking to a 6 year old!! I'm at the stage of putting affiliates on my site and the first one I looked at was WoW where do I start.
Hope you are well now after your hospital visit. Cheers and good luck.
Sally

Hi Sally
Thanks for your sympathy :-). I've just finished adding affilaite links to most of my articles; so, I'm pretty clued up on that, If you need help, just PM me.

Ian

Thanks Ian I might just do that. Pretty busy with work and stuff at the moment but hope to have another go at the weekend. Sally

The first thing you should do is to sign up with 'Shareasale.com'. They are an affiliate network an act as a 'bridge' between you and the seller of whatever goods or services you want to represent as an affiliate. Here's the link to their site. www.shareasale.com good luck with your efforts and if you get stuck, get back to me.

Looks to me like you have gotten some very good advice. Good luck with your site

Cheers Larry!

Marion and Loes both offered the solution--the same one. It works. And you don't have to mess with DNA sequencing.
Hope you are feeling better....Dick

Getting better Dick, won't be long before I'm back in the groove again. I re-started going to the gym again, last week; and, I have a deep sea wreck fishing trip booked for next week, Wednesday 10th June :-)

Cool beans! Sounds like fun.

I would uninstall the theme and reinstall it. Then set it up the way you had it before it 'broke'. DO NOT mess with the code unless you know what you're doing (and it seems you would be at sea with that). ~Marion

You betcha! Give me a section of DNA to sequence and I'm your man! But this stuff......!

So deactivate the theme, delete it then reinstall it and activate. Job done. If you need help send me a PM.

I would go to dashboard> theme options> header options> uncheck the box before "check to disable" hope this helps

Cheers Loes, thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

Hi Allana
Thanks for your response. The theme I'm using is Catch Evolution. If you're experienced in html / php, this might give you a clue to the solution I need. I received it from WP theme support, but it might as well be in Chinese for all the sense it made to me: see below.

""Go to footer.php file in your theme catch-evolution theme directory. It need to be same as https://themes.trac.wordpress.org/browser/catch-evolution/2.4.1/footer.php"
"Your header is hidden by the following css in “Appearance => Theme Options => Custom CSS” box. Remove it and you will see the header.
#branding { display: none; }"

That footer.php should be same as original footer.php for slider to work. You shouldn’t change any core theme files inside catch-evolution theme. I see that you have changed footer.php file, that is why I am telling you to revert back or original. ""

I speak several languages; but, unfortunately, not this one. Any help will be much, much, appreciated Allana. I'm off air for the next hour, so I will check back in about an hours time.

Hi Kingfisher. Have you made any headway here? Are you still having trouble? I'm wondering if you installed any new plugins recently that may not be compatible with your theme? Let us know if you are still having problems. Alanna

Thanks to some lovely helpful people here (Marion & Loes), I think that I'm on my way to sloving this annoying problem.

From here it looks like only one image is in use with your slider.

it appears that your slider is no longer working Kingfisher. Here is what I suggest you do.

Login to your site and go to the dashboard.

You will have some sort of plugin that is your slider.

You need to locate that and check to see if all the settings are correct.

Where the settings are depends on the plugin you are using. It could be in Dashboard > Settings > Slider or possible in Dashboard itself. Maybe even in Dashboard > Plugins > Slider.

You will need to make sure that the images the slider uses are present.

You may have to remove and then add them in again.

For a slider to work it needs to be A switched on and B have at least 2 images to transition between otherwise it will appear static.

Cheers Beau!

Hi Kingfisher. Also, tell us what theme you are using. Some themes can be a little temperamental!

Are you using some kind of slider for your header? Please provide a link to the site you are referring to

I've been away from my site, for a couple of months now, due to illness, and I'm now trying to catch up on my work. One of the things that's puzzling me is that my header image:

Looks like nobody else knows the answer to my 'sliding header image' problem either. I first posted this request for help over two weeks ago and I'm still no nearer to solving it yet: this is disappointing!

Helloooo! Anybody out there ??

I'm still awaiting!!! :-)

I still haven't solved this problem yet and I would welcome any help to put this one to bed!

Your website is showing a 'Featured Image' not a slider. Did you change themes? Your link above takes me to your image not your website. ~Marion

Hi Marion
Thanks for your response to my post. I haven't changed themes, and the URL to my site is http://www.weightlossthehealthyway.com
The image you now see used to alternate with one of a bunch of orchids, you can see my reference to this in my first 'sticky' post.
However, for some unknown reason, the header images have stopped 'sliding' and the alternative image to the one you see now, which was the bunch of orchids, has disappeared.
I've been hospitalised and undergone abdominal surgery in the last couple of months, and have not been thinking as clearly as I usually do. So, it's probably something I've done myself that has caused this; the problem is, I don't know what it is.:-)

what theme?

Hi Christopher
My theme is 'catch Evolution.
