Are there issues with sharing on Facebook, etc...

Hi this might help:

Thank you so much, bmark!

I have encountered an issue sharing to facebook and didn't know why either. But post any link to facebook and is in "post an update" dialog box, you can share any link, I think even WA banners, but for banners, copy and paste the html codes.
You may try bitly.com to shortened links if to post on twitter.

Thanks for the advice! :)

you're welcome :)

For example, how many members have an interest in travel or write travel blogs?

Hi Kim. I am also interested in having a list of people and their niche. I posted about this as well a little while ago and didn't get much response for the niche I was looking for. It's nice for when we're shopping for things to be able to help each other out a bit. But then, would that get WA in trouble with affiliates? -- Daniella

I think as a community it would be a really great thing to support each other's endeavors, Daniella. What is your niche? Perhaps we can come up with a project we can work on together to compile this list. :)
Kim

I agree. I think Amazon has a rule that friends and family can't use your link to buy stuff. Would this idea violate that? I do want to help my friends out here the same as I would in person. I would shop at their store if they have what I need. Or I would blog about some of the things they have, etc.

I have 4 niches but we are trying to focus on just one at a time. That's hard LOL The one we've agreed to focus on first is homeschooling on a budget, but I keep coming up with things to work on for our "lifestyle" niche. We also have an Essential Oils healthy living niche and a ministry/go out and help others niche. Is yours travel?

Would love to find a way to make this kind of thing work and I'd be happy to work with you on it. Might need to ask Kyle about this as well. :)

I haven't yet researched it that close, since I'm just through the first course. My niche is travel and more specifically, Alaska travel. I also am just starting a Travel/Tourism course through Penn-Foster. That will give me travel agent certification when completed and a certificate to specialize in a specific destination at The Travel Institute when I've completed the course, to which I plan on making my focus destination Alaska. My idea is to use my WA website to promote booking Alaska vacations, and to branch out from there if that does well. I could easily market Alaska without the certification, as it is truly my home, but I think the certifications will lend more credibility to the website and business aspect.

I haven't done the Affiliate Bootcamp, but am thinking that if I put a link on my site that says, "How to Afford Your Dream Vacation," and then link to WA, that could be an additional form of revenue. If this becomes a success, it will be my wish to share the wealth, so to speak. :)

I also have a passion for writing, so I want to do an Alaskan blog to essentially share all things Alaskan. I am excited about the prospects.
At some point I would like to incorporate travel writing or cater to a Writer's retreat, but that is further down the road.

I have been involved with many charitable organizations and enjoy volunteering in my community. I have a second domain that I want to develop as a Community Calendar site. We tend to end up with many events on the same weekends here, because as soon as nice weather begins, there are all the things like March of Dimes, Relay for Life, The Heart Walk, etc... I'm hoping the calendar can be used as a communication tool to help these organizations plan their events to incur maximum participation potential, rather than creating scheduling conflicts or competing for charitable revenue.

I didn't realize the affiliate programs would have rules about no friends/family traffic. How would they be able to distinguish?
As I said, very new to this all, but it seems to have great potential. Of course, I was thinking of the synergy of this site and how we could support each other when looking for specific items or learning from each other if we have similar niches.

Did I mention that I love projects? lol It seems that I'm always focused on some sort of projects, it is what keeps me motivated. If Kyle agrees, it surely would be fun to help develop something that would be beneficial to everyone on the site.

Kim

Thanks, Michelle!

Because everyone has the ability to perform in any niche and not necessarily just one, and for the fact people could change niches at any time if they're not comfortable in the one they started with, it would be very difficult data to track.

Likely the reason WA doesn't have such a "list"

One way to find out, would be to create a blog that asks that question above. When you do you are prompted to answer yes/no to the question "Need community help with your question?" and see how many respond to your post with information on their niche!

Good idea, Leland.

We don't have anything like this on WA, but it would definitely be interesting if we did! :)
