Product vs. Service, which one is easier to sell?
Finally, being back home, will give me, once again, the right atmosphere to implement my thoughts, written "on paper", into perspective.
During my ride home I started to think about a question, most newbies will ask very quick, once they have joined Wealthy Affiliate, when to expect the first sale, referral, for a product/service?
Unfortunately, there are no real time frames set in stone of any kind.
Of course, it always depends on your time you like to spend on, i.e. creating a dashing website, how often you will create new content, engage with a potential customer by, i.e. responding quickly and efficiently to a comment, they will leave on your site.
But first, choose and most important, know your niche.
Here, you can get a refresh on this part called a niche, this is one of Kyle's explanation on this topic.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/choosing-your-direction-it-starts-with-a-niche
Anything can be a niche, whatever comes into your mind to be a niche, will be one, if you choose it, it will be.
The question, however, is this one which can be a bit confusing in the beginning because they will be used sometimes, meaning the same. Product & Service.
What is a Product?
Some will say that everything is a product and I do believe they are right, but I still like to separate these two and here is why.
I certainly don't want to nitpick on the words and what they stand for, but here is how I see what a product for me is.
A product can be anything and everything which I can buy from a store, online store etc. and either will take it home or will get it delivered. This can be from A for Automotive products to B like Books to G for a Generator, to Z for Zucchini recipe.
I am just playing around a bit to show you what can be possible to be a niche and a product.
What is a Service?
A service is something you will either personally, or through an employee, deliver to someone else, who is in need or interested in what you are offering.
This could be a Housecleaning service as a general offer or being specified just for the elderly or disabled people.
Life Coaching, is a personal service for people, who are in need of some clear directions in one or more areas of their life.
Than, there is the service of an ambulatory home care service, where you might be the owner, working alone, but also might have one or more qualified employees.
Which is the better one to start with?
This is a very tricky question and can't be answered as a crystal clear sure thing.
You have to know your niche, through and through. Having "only" an interest isn't always, if at all, enough. You need to be an "expert" or at least very knowledgeable about your niche.
If you like to sell a specific product or actually like to offer a service, is a choice only you can make.
Do your due diligence and see what is the best thing for you.
And as I said it already before, success depends how much time, effort and dedication you will put in. This goes for any niche and for any product or service you will sell.
It always will take time to earn money, when being an online entrepreneur, but it will be worth it in the long run.
I am sure of it.
Just believe in yourself and that you can do it.
Never give up.

Hi Sylvia,
I like your break down of "product and service". This is something that needed to be told. It makes a lot of sense, to know the difference between the two. Thank you so much for this insight. I really appreciate that. Have a great weekend.

A very nice post. I like the distinction you have made.
An interesting thing is that while a product is easy to promote using affiliate marketing. Services can be more difficult to monetize in this way.
Fortunately, WA has both covered. The Local Classroom focuses on building a service business or actual Brick and Mortar online.
Thanks Craig for your comment and detailed input on this topic.
You too certainly should know as hard it can be sometimes offering your services.
Although, I do believe being a dog trainer must be high in demand. :)
