I would just like to add, as a newbie, for the newbie's that are just joining, don't worry so much about a niche because when you come to writing up your journey for your pages to build up your website, the best thing is what I have always done is empty your head, just write and your niche will jump out at you. Otherwise, you will stress about what to write, don't worry take your time, work through the lessons step by step. What I have done is gone through every video as they have done, paused and restarted the video over and over again.

Hope this piece of information helps...good luck!!

Very good insight Ms Odm68 into the art of writing. More of us should do this, even though our pride might get in the way.
I would suggest EVERYONE new at this to consider your approach. Just start writing. They will find two things...First, what they are truly passionate about, and second, if they have the grit to do this longterm.

I just want to get something right with this key word thing. Say if I do a search for "How to be happy always?" and in key word tool at WA, it tells me that there are 50 searches or more and no more than 300 QSR, then it is good, right? So when I write my content, do I have to use the whole phrase "How to be happy always?"or could I just use the words in the phrase? If I was to use 'happy' on its own within a different phrase, how do I know that happy is a key word on its own? Any feedback is much appreciated.
What counts more as key words? The title of my site or the name of my domain?
Reply
kmer6 Premium
When you do a search for a keyword (one word) or a keyword phrase (more than one word), the keyword tool will give you the results for the exact word or words you initially entered to search for. So the term, How to be happy always, is a phrase. So the keyword tool is looking for all exact matches to that specific term. If you decide to write an article about "How to be happy always", you have to use all the words exactly how they are, word order, everything, in order for the search engines to rank your article for that term. I hope I explained this well enough for you.

Very well explained Kmer, thank you. However when I am about to write an article titled "How to be always happy", beside that phrase, must I not also include individual single key words? So therefore, with the key word tool, do you search them by entering them as single words? Say I want to start a sentence by saying "Positivity is ......." and I want to know if positivity can be a key word for me. So I search 'positivity' as a single word?
It seems to me that researching single key word are not always going to bring up the result that you hope for. How do you do your search?
Much appreciated

Another suggestion which makes a lot of sense, too.
Thank you.
Reply
kmer6 Premium
Very good point, Simon, because in that example, "How to be always happy", there are several keywords listed. There is "happy", then there is"how to", then there is "how to be always happy".
So you are correct for SEO, that you could literally get ranked three times for that one keyword term, because of the combinations of all the keywords in one phrase. I hope that helps.

I do combinations. I first do my long-tail keyword prase. I see my results. Then if I see one word, or another word that gets used a lot, I will enter that word, sometimes singly, just to get a feel for how the resulting numbers differ. I hope this answered your question.

Happy Saturday to you. This is what I recommend. I call it brainstorming. Brainstorming is a process that you begin to eliminate items you are passionate about that will be difficult to make money online with. You basically write down all your passions; your experience; your talents; your skills, etc. Then by checking against Google, you find out quickly if the item is probable or impossible to dominate the niche.
Take a sheet of paper, draw a line down the center of the page. One column you list on separate lines what you most like, your passions whether it is your experience, a hobby, a skill, a talent, or something close to your heart. For me, I had nearly a full page of things that I was passionate about. In the next column, on the same line of each different passion, I run the idea through Google, and look at the first page results. Do I see a lot of really big corporations (stay away) or do I see some affiliate review sites ( possible to outrank).
When I finish each item on my list, I start over with more detail, until I get my list of possible websites down to just two or three choices. Then I pick my favorite, what I am most passionate about, because, in the end, when it comes to mandatory writing once or twice a week for your site you want a site that is enjoyable to you, even if you aren't getting any traffic. When you feel you had enough, this is when it becomes most important to continue adding content.

Good question. I hope this helps you.

I am also confused about key word research when it comes to searching for a key word phrase that seems like it would provide the most accurate results. Then the results of that search of the phrase brings up other related key word phrases that could also be used to rand. I don't see how there could be any value in just searching 1 word since your results could be really nothing to do with what you are really writing about. So I guess I don't get it when it comes to searching individual words and how that could be of much help.

You are correct Barbara. One word keyword searches will accomplish very little if anything at all. Your best plan of attack is to put yourself in your website visitor's shoes for a moment. What would they type in the search box that would bring your website up in the results? Type this keyword phrase into your keyword tool of choice.
The suggestions that the keyword tool displays might just be what you need to write a post about. Plan on using the long-tailed keyword phrase and not just the one-word keyword. Chances are that a much older website is ranking for that one keyword and it will be near impossible to outperform them to get that keyword. Your long-tailed keyword phrase is always a better choice.
I hope this helps.

WA Keyword Tool is included with WA Membership.

Jaxxy (after an initial 30 free searches) is an extra cost.

They both give the same essential information, but the Jaxxy results are a little more expanded and there are more options for finding keywords. There are also some other benefits to Jaxxy like checking your siterank.

Wa Keyword tool does everything you need, especially when starting out there isn't a need for Jaxxy it's just nice to have if you can spare the extra change!

In the video Kyle shows that the keyword -basketball drills- has a QSR of 300.
Now, QSR is stated as being "Quoted Search Results" and is the total number of pages through the whole internet where those words figure in that format. (according to the video)
However...
According to Google there are 449,000 pages on the web that have that confuguration of words on them.
Where is my error becasue this keyword stuff is really rather important to the success of my website! :-)

Stan, you are going to do some research. This research consists of entering a search term that will be relative to your niche. Look at all of the displayed search terms. You will want to harvest (copy) the best search terms by search volume, traffic, and competition. You collect a minimum of five search terms for an article you wish to write.
With these five search terms (keywords), you will now narrow these terms to find the best keyword term that will give you the maximum amount of searches (volume), The lowest amount of competition, and the highest number of potential visitors (traffic).

When I do keyword research I start brainstorming some different keywords. I see what is displayed, sometimes take one of these and use it as my search term to filter through to get new keywords. I select the best keyword terms that will fit my content. I copy these for future articles. This approach gives me plenty of available keywords to use at my leisure.
I hope this explains the five keywords you look for.
Good question

Not sure if this is where I can ask for advice from someone.Still struggling with my niche. I am trying to take this new adventure slow but steady so I can try to limit my mistakes now, for better success down the road. So I am a avid wine maker and enjoy drinking and pairing with foods, but cannot think of a niche. My other love is for vacations and cruises. I am always reading about new ships and what they have to offer, and at times talk to friends and family advising them on what the best cruise line and cruise ship would be best for them. So, I was thinking of a website, maybe called cruiseforme.com or cruisebestforme.com.
I saw a lot of other websites on Google i.e.,cruisecritic.com and cruise online.com. So I know there is competition out there. I have been on 3-4 cruises so far, so not that many and wondering if I can create quality content without a ton of travel experience.

What are your thoughts on this niche? Too broad, too narrow?
Again, I am trying not to rush the process so I can limit my mistakes. I do not want to put a few months into a niche and then it not be successful because I chose a not so good niche. I understand I may not generate any income for at least 1, 2 or 3 years months, and I am okay with that, however, when it does start generating I hope to see the steady monthly progression going forward due to my work and dedication in the earlier months.

Sorry for long winded question. Thank you all in advance for your help.

Good day to you Jeff. I just happen to read your question and thought I might have an idea to bounce your way. Your choices that I understand are between wine and cruise ships?

Okay for the wine niche, do you also make your own wine or just know what the various types, blends, brands, etc? The world has a lot of wine enthusiasts and what better way to show off a wine collection than through their own custom bottle racks, accessories like cool looking wine glasses, wine bar, etc. There are a ton of paraphernalia just for drinking and enjoying wine. Even knowing the best location to go to get a bottle of this or that.

Cruise ships sounds more like a vacation niche. If you are able to become a reseller of vacation cruises then this could be a great niche. You may even get free tickets for you and your family if you sell x number of tickets.

Either one of these can be a great niche to build a website around. I would suggest you do some keyword searches for each niche. See what WA keyword tool suggests. Write down the favorite ones, then take these to Jaaxy keyword tool. (since I don't know if you are a member of Jaaxy, I say do most of your keyword search here for free). With Jaaxy you can find out if a domain name is taken for your best keyword phrases, which may help you decide which niche to pursue.
Good question, and I hope this suggestion helps.

I try to go there first before I decide on keywords that I want to search within Jaaxy since it is not free. It is an amazing tool and well worth the money if you use it the right way but I still like using any free tools at my disposal.

Jaaxy results provide you with Keywords people are searching for on a daily basis. Correctly used means people could land on your website to read your Blog. Does this help?

On the left of your screen, under Training is Classrooms. Click on Classrooms and you will see all the choices. When you click on one of them, you will enter the classroom. Along the top you will see all the options. Click here to see an image:

HI
Are you asking about a particular training or are you just starting out with your training. If so, if you are looking to choose your niche and start building your website etc, click on the green Get Started Here button - toward the top of the page - on the left hand side.

Alternatively if you are looking to start your website and promoting the Wealthy Affiliate program, then click on the Black Affiliate Bootcamp button .

I hope this helps but if you still have questions, don't hesitate to ask again.

Inside the Classrooms you will find the training at the top of the page. There is a Questions Tab, A tutorials tab and a Video tab. The final course tab takes you to the certification courses.

For this Keyword,Niche and Marketing classroom there are 46 tutorials and 26 videos.

Hover over classrooms and another menu will open with the classrooms listed, select the Keyword, Niche and Market Research and click on it.

You should see something similar to what you see with this image.

chrome exhaust, custom wheels, Helmets.... Do some keyword research on some specific areas. I would imagine motorcycle wheels have pretty high competition but I would also venture a guess that you could pick just about any part and build a successful website around it. Customization in bikes is HUGE!

motorcycle helmets has over 33,000 monthly searches with 303 competing sites

you could have a motorcycle helmet website then there are a ton of searches within that to categorize...
carbon fiber motor cycle helmets
women's motorcycle helmets
cheap motorcycle helmets
custom motorcycle helmets

it just keeps going and all of the ones I looked at have over 500 average monthly searches...

I'm only using helmets as an example. You could literally do this same thing with pretty much any part. Break handles, exhaust pipes, seats, gas tanks.

Hope this is helpful!

What is it about motorcycles? For example, I see maintaining, models, repairs, replacement parts, etc. Be really specific.

Hi everyone! I'd like to choose a niche within my passions, is it a good idea, right? Well, my three greatest passions are photography, pets and mountain biking. Which of them could be better to choose a niche? Photography or pets, maybe? Or mountain biking?

Do I need to add my keywords in the box on the Edit Page (at the bottom) where it says: add keywords separated by a comma?
Reply
Colestock198 Premium
No, in an upcoming lesson Kyle will explain that this does very little if anything and that leaving it blank is just fine.
Reply
JeffreyS Premium
No you don't. Just leave box empty for meta tag keywords.

I have a niche idea for keyboarding. I know I could give tips, I know I could market typing apps and programs. But if I were to have a typing website I feel like there should be some sort of typing interaction. whether that be some sort of mini lessons or a speed/accuracy test. Is this doable? and if so how could I go about incorporating an interactive experience to a wordpress site?

Use U-Tube videos. Make a video, put on U-Tube. Embed on your site. Do short lessons that when you finish one go to the next. Use this to show how to's.
The only way to do it live is via Skype. Maybe you can use your website to set up times for Skype tutorials that are live. Charge for your time.
