Is it a good idea to make a directory relevant to a specific niche and add links for a specific service?

Yes, there are some great plugins for doing so, but you might need to pay for good ones. The idea being that thy pay for themselves. Make sure you are on top of site creation before you move ahead with a directory!

No problem. I looked up a few recently on Google, but I'm not quite ready to create a new directory just yet. Are you hoping to have businesses pay for listings or add affiliate links in directory entries?

I think I googled "wordpress directory plugin"

I think I have mistakenly used the word directory I wanted to mean list of companies that provides a specific service.

Now you have lost me. A list of companies you recommend on a specific page, or a directory with categories, each company having it's own listing on the directory?

I've got you that far. How do you want to present that list? Do you have any examples of existing websites with a list in the layout you want it?

Yes, thank you. Something like this.

OK, easy. This is a simple comparison post. You will learn more about these in the basic training. If you haven't gotten up to that part of the training yet, keep going and ask again if you get stuck!

Hi there, - I hope I'm not hi-jacking your page, but this could be useful for someone else too.
I'm trying to build a directory site right now, and I really don't know how to do it. I want to have the products and services for my niche, (which is a loong list of different products and services, organised according to what they actually are), organised by region, organised by country.
I had no idea about directory plug-ins and thought I could create the site myself this way by organising the pages in a certain way.
Do you recommend a directory plugin?

Why did you tell DudulieSilva to be on top of site creation first?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Heather.

Literally speaking, you are not creating directories on your site ... You are creating pages, menus, etc to organize your content however you want ...

And regarding your question ... Putting aside the terminology ... Adressing different niches within one site isn't recommended. It can be confusing both for your readers and the search engines.

Yes, you could create directories on your server, but that isn't visible on your site.

Thank you very much for the guidance. Let me explain it further. What I want to do is creating a list of companies and websites that provides CV writing services with more details of the cv writing service they provide (prices, discounts, packages, customers reviews etc.) Also I would like to create contents on CV writing tips, job search tips, interview tips etc.

Can I call my niche as "cv writing services"?

I guess you are talking about "naming" your site (not your niche) ...

Yes, you decide, you can call it however you want ... But you should use Jaaxy to find out what would be the most "lucrative" name
