I'd say use Jaaxy research your intended niche well before you commence.
Look for searches (avg.) above 30 and competition (qsr. ) lower than 100, the lower the qsr the better.

As I said earlier, I think that a Bowflex machine would be a great article to write about in an exercise machine niche.
If you are too specific about your niche, you will run out of ideas to write about.
