I'd like to know how many of us who are doing affiliate marketing, actually acquire the products/services, reviewed them, before promoting them?

Say, if you were promoting a blender and you have already a brand in mind with all the functionality but have no idea if it's the true quality that it's perceived... would you buy one, test it before promoting it?

Would any of the merchants offer a discount if they know you are promoting the items for them?

Thank you for your input!

Thank you, Sue....It's good to know about potential discounts and accepting returns from merchants and the invite to their affiliate programs...

Have a wonderful day!!

I promote products that I currently own and love or that I have done the research on and put on my website. Also ask people who own the item, my sister swears by her KitchenAid mixer - I've always wanted one. I'll promote these.

I have sent emails to manufacturers asking if I can promote a product on my website. I have gotten 3 invitations to join affiliate programs and I have even been offered discounts on items I want to try. If it is a really good deal I go for it, if I don't like it. I return it and I don't promote it.

Hey Bernie, great to hear from you.
That's a great question, I'm glad I came across it.
I think if you have a successful site, certain companies wouldn't hesitate on giving a rebate on their products, even give you one for that matter.
However, to outright buy the product could prove to be too expensive.

Say for instance you have a successful YouTube cooking show, and you're promoting small kitchen appliances, and you want la creme de la creme.

Companies like Kitchen Aid will work with you. example of this is their top of the line KA mixer which retails for around $800.00, or their food processor, which I've drooled over many times, will set you back close to a G note.

So with more expensive items, I'm sure you can negotiate with most large companies.
However, to go out and buy all the items we review, would prove to be a very expensive endeavour.
Nice to her from you

Please elaborate.... OK, so what do you do to give a fair and responsible review of a certain product or service? Or, you don't do affiliate marketing?

I looked at lots of other reviews to determine how good is the product.
