So you don't have to specifically link your keywords to your site.

There was a time when Google paid attention to things like exact match keywords and variations in you tags as well as keyword density. Then you could put your keyword into SEO tools like a plugin and it would give you those metrics at a glance and provide a "score".

But it also allowed people to game the system because they were simply aiming for the best use of a keyword and little effort was actually being put into their content.

You could use article spinners that produce horrible content but with all the keywords in the right spots and the right density, it had a chance of being ranked.

You may remember those days when you were searching for something and the articles you were getting were written terribly and provided little value, if any at all.

Google's AI today is lot smarter and can take a search term and match it with the right content in an organic way. So, you still want your key indicators... your keyword in the title for example and somewhere in one of your first few paragraphs.

And you also want to include it periodically in your content just to show the search engines you're staying on point and not taking a hard turn with your content into something completely unrelated (it does happen sometimes).

When you use it in your content though, it doesn't always have to be an "exact match" keyword you're using... it can even be a sentence or two that's just close enough to indicate that your content is still relevant to the original search term.

Hey fellow BC rez!

You should use your keyword (or keyword phrase) in your title, within your first paragraph, and wherever it fits naturally within your headings and content.

As I understand it, the keyword box is now an outdated feature. Add the words (or phrases) directly to your content.
