Hi guys, I just realised how much paypal is charging in hidden fees when I saw someone being charged an extra $1000 on a course! They were being charged heavily by their bank too so then I noticed all these online transfer companies - but signing up on a website and giving name and address and bank details - how kosher is it all? How do you know you are on the legit original site?! I see good reviews for Transferwise and xe.com, and I'm seeing Western Union charge as much as a bank...anyone tried any of these when using different currencies?

Thanks,

Mary

I have no experience with either, this is very informative for me, this is one of the many reasons I love WA.

Transferwise will not let me make a transfer even if I log in. They will send me a code to my mobile or email to verify that it is myself.

I see Amazon is doing the same thing

I dropped Western Union like a hot potato as they ripped me off. I have peace of mind with Transferwise as I can send money abroad.

I pay for goods online and I convert my euros into any currency. I also get the full rate of the exchange, there is a one off charge but no hidden extras.

I have been dealing with them for three years and find them extremely ethical. I cant post their website here for spamming reasons but if you send me a private message I will pass on all the details if you interested.

oh yes I see they have a refer and earn option, but sadly I signed up before seeing that otherwise it would have been great to help out peeps with the affiliate aspect! It's so nervewracking hand over bank account details online these days though to a website is the big issue

PayPal is very expensive but convenient.
I use Transferwise and they are very good. What are you going to use them for and will it be regular.
I can explain this in detail if you PM any specifics as I've been using Transferwise regularly since May and learned the best way to do this.

It's just a couple of purchases at the mo, not regular but given the whopping bank charges and paypal at over 10% there seems to be huge savings - it's just nervewracking in this day and age to give name, address, dob and bank details online to a website!!!!

Yes Transferwise is the way to go. I make regular payments and each fee is only $2-4 so it is good. As I don't have a US bank account, it was tricky to figure out.
I do bank to bank transfers within Transferwise which was tricky to figure out initially but once I worked it, is is quite easy.

I have used transferwise once to Chile. It worked well. A friend of mine swears by them.

Have a great day.
