Google Panda 4.0
Google recently started rolling out their Panda 4.0 update which is designed to have a knock on effect against low-quality content.
As usual when there is a new algorithm change this impacts some large and small companies. Even the big guns get affected.
Interestingly, from their report eBay might be one of the big companies impacted by the change.
Here is an interesting ranking update from Searchmetrics, a company who monitor search ranking changes.

By the same token there were companies who gained significantly in rankings.
It's by no means an exact measure, as it mentions, but it provides some food for thought.

Thanks for the information. Hopefully, this will be good for us who follow Lyle's lead of having original quality content on our websites. At least that's how I choose to interpret it :)
interesting, and although there may be many interpretations my take on it is that simple listings and aggregation sites do less well and sites which provide a unique and individualized service or provide content which is golden do rather better...
