Robotics competitions!

"Hello" WA world how has everyone been these past couple weeks? Let's me start with how busy this little family has been lately. Landon (as mentioned in the past) got involved the VEX Robotics at his school this past year!

He came to his mom and I a few weeks ago and expressed his concern on the progress of his bot. His team had a bit of a hiccup in the building process which is to be expected with it being the first time doing this. So, we spent this past couple of weeks helping him get it ready for his competition last weekend which included teams spanning across several states.

His team not only did an exceptional job designing the bot and doing the coding to get it ready for this great moment and we couldn't be happier for the team! Although we didn't take the "W", but they did go to the finals! His mom and I can't express how great that was for him and his confidence being he is only 6years old and lost to a much older High School team. Their bot was clearly way more advanced than the younger age group, but he understands he has to work up to this level!

There were definitely some ups and downs and one of which included him saying he didn't want to do it again next year. As his parents hit really bummed us out because he worked so hard this year getting ready for this moment. We found a local Robotics camp for him to go to this summer and help him progress and possibly building something bigger and better!

We knew he must have been overwhelmed seeing his little bot vs the bigger bots and that had to have been what was bugging him. We turned out to be correct and offered to let him participate in this summer camp and convinced him practice makes perfect. So, let's keep the fingers crossed he peruses this because it was really cool to watch them battle.

We are traveling to St. Louis this upcoming weekend for another competition and final one for this season! We assured him that this was a great accomplishment to come out as well as he did this past weekend and move on to the last competition. There were 16 teams that didn't make it this for and some of them have done this last season. We will be rooting for team TMS this upcoming weekend and hope to get into reginal down in Jefferson City.

Well thanks for everyone who read this because Landon wanted to share his amazing feat for the past weekend. I am sure he will want me to let you all know the outcome of the upcoming competition. Thank you all again and sorry to be distant lately but I jump on here when I can to continue learning. Throughout this phase in his competitive Robotics, I am trying to give him my undivided attention to help him succeed with the best of his abilities!

That’s an awesome accomplishment for your son, Kevin!

So cool! 👍👍

Frank 😎🎸

Thank You for sharing this, Kevin. I wish they had had this when I was growing up. Please pass this on to Landon.

Landon, If you really like working with robots, coding, and everything else that goes with it, DO IT! Follow what you love to do. Don't let a setback stop you. You and your team are six years old and going up against High School teams, and you made it to the finals. That is a great accomplishment. Follow Your Dreams, Landon.

Yay! That's awesome!

This sounds great, Kevin. Keep encouraging Landon. I hope he does well this weekend!

Isaiah 😊

This is awesome, Kevin. My last ex wife is a Sceience teacher and I have been to one of those! Tell Landon "Well done"!

Jeff

Will do and thank you.

You're very welcome, Kevin, and good luck at the next event!

Hey Kevin,

It's Wonderful that Landon and his team did so well!

Especially at such a young age!

Also, we all go through ups and downs, especially when trying something new, but let him know to keep up the good work :)

Because it works if you work it!

Since the more we do something, the better we're going to get!

I hope you, Landon, and the rest of your family have a great rest of your week :)

Happy to know you found a summer camp to help him build up his talent.
Best wishes in the upcoming competition.

Thank you
