WARNING: If you have Google Analytics read this ASAP
So I added Google Analytics to both of my sites about 12 days ago and something VERY important was brought to my attention...
I was so excited to see my traffic stats go up on a daily bases and I was discussing with a friend what the graphs, charts, and numbers mean, and he asked me a question.
"So what is Semalt.semalt.com?" he asked...
Hmm.... So I did a little research.
Well If you go to Analytics
under Acquisition
and pick Referrals
You may see this semalt.semalt.com
This is a Russian analytics company basically trying to be like Google analytics.
They send crawlers through your site like google, but they show up as visitors with an 100% bounce rate. Over time, these "visitors" will create seriously inaccurate stats and traffic.
Luckily for us all
There is a filter to remove semalt from your results. The only thing that sucks is that Analytics will not remove the false semalt statistics before the filter. So catching this early on in our sites can save us tons of confusion, and I read a great article that explains how to handle this situation.

And BTW.
I also typed Semalt into the wealthy affiliate toolbar, and this HAS been discussed sparingly. But maybe making a filter should be be something that we do right after installing analytics.
Id love to hear your opinions on this topic so feel free to leave comments. Thank you and have a great day my fellow affiliates. I wish all peace and prosperity.
