"If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary."
- and I'll be damned if he wasn't spot on. (Me on the famous quote by Jim Rohn)
Hi, I’m Kevin.
A happy, healthy, and somewhat wealthy affiliate marketer who loves creating highly
profitable online businesses from scratch and helping others do the same.
I run a small handful of web properties and authority sites that connect customers to
a variety of products/services/companies from around the world and make a very
nice living doing so. This, of course, is what affiliate marketing is all about.
Yep, business is booming, but it wasn’t always smooth sailing for me...
You see, while I was completing my studies in college, I couldn’t help but think that
after graduation, many of us would likely go through life working a nine-to-five, get
stuck slaving away for “The Man” and ultimately, lose out on our own personalized
version of the American Dream. To me, that was a terrifying prospect.
So, in an attempt to save myself from a seemingly unfulfilling future existence, I did
the unthinkable. I Googled: “how to make money online”. Boom! Solutions galore...
Yea, right. Who knew the Internet Marketing education industry was full of so many
snake oil salesmen? Evil marketers preying on the naïve. And boy was I naïve...
Long story short - I lost track of reality and made the wrong moves. Without the right
action plan for success, I made a lot of mistakes... and mistakes cost time (one year,
in my case) and money (two grand, #FMyLife) and are huge headaches (’nuff said).
Maybe I was unlucky. Maybe I received crappy advice. Plain and simple, I messed up.
But rather than be a baby and admit defeat, I stood up to adversity and accepted the
cold hard truth: There will be times when the proverbial ball will not bounce your way.
Enter WA (Wealthy Affiliate). Call it a stroke of luck or divine intervention or just good
ol’ fashioned advertising... but somehow, I stumbled upon this very site and found it
to be refreshingly different - a clear, honest and straightforward approach to “turn
any passion into a successful affiliate marketing business.” Now this I can dig...
Next, I signed up and got rolling with the training. Keep in mind: At this point in time, I
was still in school and had plenty of the usual college-life distractions (e.g. midterms,
finals, research papers, student loans, part-time gigs, etc.). But with ninja-like focus
and dogged determination, I kept at it... and bit by bit, I saw my biz come together.
By graduation time, I‘d already generated enough revenue from my rather amateur-
looking dating sites review blog to pay off my student loans in full (which I promptly
did) and yes, it felt grrreat! And although I hadn’t exactly saved up enough to buy
a yacht or a place in the Hamptons... one thing was for sure: WA is the real deal.
Fast-forward to the time of this writing, I now earn a full-time income online that pays
the bills (and then some) doing something I’m passionate about (i.e. creating highly
profitable online businesses from scratch and helping others do the same) without
having to become part of the corporate machine. Voila, no fancy degree required.
Thanks to the Internet, WA’s founders (Kyle and Carson), the supportive community
here at WA, and my folks - I’ve successfully discovered a line of work that brings me
ultimate satisfaction, joy and reward (career-wise and money-wise) minus the stress
and drudgery of office politics, bureaucratic red tape, and pay raise shenanigans.
But there’s a catch. It’s not really work.
It’s doing something worthwhile that makes me feel excited to wake up every morning,
which in turn makes me more money; and, as a result, makes me happier.
OK, here’s the kicker though: It’s not ALL fun and games. At least, not all the time. ;)
At the end of the day, affiliate marketing - real affiliate marketing, the kind taught here
at WA (where earning $10,000 per month is considered merely a “decent start”) - is a
serious business that, at times, involves in-the-trenches hard work (aka #Grindmode)
and madman-type dedication.
But let’s face it, so does anything worth doing.
Fortunately, affiliate marketing isn’t rocket science, but it does require the proper mix
of personality traits to succeed in this realm (most notably: drive, discipline, patience,
motivation, and a desire to learn). Oh, and lest we forget: A willingness to take risks.
That last trait is actually hugely important. To quote the rags-to-riches entrepreneur,
author and motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, “If you are not willing to risk the unusual,
you will have to settle for the ordinary.” - and I’ll be damned if he wasn’t spot on.
Anyway, personality-wise, if you possess those key traits, you truly have what it takes
to become a Wealthy Affiliate and live a happy-er, healthy-er, and wealthy-er life.
