Top 50? When did that happen?

I've been pretty busy recently, trying to write content for my niche website, trying to complete project work for my day job, taking care of the kids, the usual.

Here's what I've been up to this week:

I've challenged myself to write 5 useful articles

Recently, to improve my content writing skills, I set myself the challenge of writing an informative blog post a day for five days. The goal was to research and write about something that I find interesting or challenging in a way that is helpful to others.

My rules were that the posts had to be useful to WA members (so they'd need to be about Wordpress, SEO, content writing or other similar subjects), they had to be around 1,000 words in length and they had to be worth reading (i.e. I'm not allowed to just phone it in with some waffly nonsense).

The articles I've written so far are:

There's two more articles to write but I've taken tonight off as it's been a long week.

I'll be publishing the next one tomorrow at some point (no spoilers here). :)

I've started a bullet journal

In addition to this, I also started a bullet journal. If you don't know what that is, I'll just say, take a look at the linked video but that shows the pretty boring version on the 'official' site. For a much better example, take a look at this excellent blog post from a blogger that believes that her planning should be beautiful. Mine's more... functional. :)

The short version is that it's where you take a blank notebook and turn it into your own unique planner to organise your life. I've been using mine for a day and already I've got more things done in that short space of time than I managed to do over the last five days.

I saw I was in the top 50

This morning when I was catching up on the latest members, posts and messages I noticed that my rank was suddenly 48. Only a few weeks ago it had been over 10,000.

That was quite a surprise as I've not done anything special other than dive back into the training, leave a few comments here and there, get on with creating content for my niche site and write a few blog posts along the way.

If I'm completely honest, I don't really see what all the rank fuss is about.

I've seen posts where members seem desperate to get in the top 200, 100, 50 or even reach ambassador status and I don't really get it. Just enjoy being here and help people along the way and you'll get there, if that's what you really want.

I love the community here. It's so easy to get involved and help people out, write about your experiences along the way, and read some amazingly inspirational stories from people that have just buckled down and done the work and found success as a result.

If what I'm doing makes me worthy of being in the top 50 then great. I'll carry on doing what I'm doing because clearly it must be valuable to someone. :)

Congrats on hitting Top 50! I appreciate your posts, they have been helpful!

Congrats on hitting Top 50. I'll be back there again shortly I hope! Working hard on it right now.

Congrats Phil!

Nice, really nice. It's valuable to hear from folks who are at the top of the mountain. But it is especially helpful and encouraging to hear about those who are mid journey. Thank you for sharing this with us.

"but I've taken tonight off as it's been a long week."
This is a great post, especially for someone who is taking the night off. You're telling us what you've up to, sharing organisational tips and expressing your opinion about issues on WA so Go on Phil add this post to your count.
Work hard and create your own luck.

Hi Phil a good post. I think you have the right thoughts regarding ranking. Not everyone can be number one, you jet have to accept that your ranking is a function of your activity and engagement, and therefore everyone´s will be different for different reasons. While I wish i had more time to spend on my websites, it wouldn't necessarily make a difference to the ranking i achieve, Best Alan

Well speaking for it is very Valuable. I've tagged your page:)

Oh you are so valuable, thank you for this information, we are excited to implement your skill sets. Thank you !

Great work Phil!

Rank is not important to me. The encouragement i get
From member who benefit from my posts is.

That's pretty much how I feel. I like helping people. I used to teach at college so I suspect I might be wired that way.

I think my main motivation for wanting to help is that everyone has been so helpful to me since I joined.

I may not have asked any questions but the ones I didn't ask have often been answered before I needed to and for that, I'm grateful. :)
