Progress Update

It's been a crazy four weeks since I got re-engaged with my WA efforts six weeks ago.

Before then, I'd been on a non-intentional hiatus for months, possibly even a year. I kind of lost count and I don't really want to bring myself down by finding out. What matters is that I'm moving forward again.

In that time, I've been really busy with client work (my day job), looking after my little girls (my wife is away for most of the week) and trying to squeeze in looking after myself too. :)

To help myself to keep a positive frame of mind, I thought I'd write a blog post reviewing what I've achieved in the last six weeks. Apologies if this seems somewhat self-indulgent but I think it's beneficial to review your performance in order to maintain or improve it.

Blog posts

In total I've published 24 blog posts since the start of May. I think I've seen an improvement in the quality of my research, writing and ability to think of subjects as a result.

Training Progress

I completed Level 3 of the certification training since the start of May and I'm now on lesson 8 of 10 on Level 1 of the Bootcamp training.

My Training Modules

I've created three training modules in the last month, one of which was a video training module that I'm really proud of myself for creating (I don't like the sound of my own voice). They are:

  1. Overcoming The Fear of Failure
  2. How to submit your site to DuckDuckGo
  3. Wordpress Pages & Posts with SEO secret sauce!

I have a 4th training module in production (another video module). I'm hoping to upload that this week (I had hope to finish it yesterday but my day-job had to come first).

Rank

I have no idea how, but in the last six weeks my rank has risen from over 10,000 to 35. I think it's probably related to the number of blog posts I've written and the three training items but I'm going to have to focus on my website content so I expect that rank to drop in the coming weeks.

Websites

I've retrofitted two of my embryonic websites from way back when I started (they had no content) to be GDPR compliant and this week I've resurrected one of them to become my new Bootcamp-focused website combined with a niche I can also write content for.

  • Niche-focused site: 7 articles written, Ad-sense added, 1st sale on Amazon made
  • Bootcamp site: Brand new About and Privacy pages. Refined SEO settings.

I'm looking forward to publishing to both sites as I've discovered over the last month, the more I write, the more I want to write. It's sort of addictive! :)

My First Sale

I'm not sure how this happened by on the 27th May I had my first Amazon affiliate sale. None of my traffic is organic yet so this was the result of either direct or social traffic.

For all I know, it could have been someone from WA when they left a website comment. Whatever the source, it was an encouraging start. I didn't expect a sale until at least six months in.

Social Media

For my niche site I made a commitment to post to at least one of my brand social media accounts each day. For the most part, I've stuck to this but I feel the frequency of my social media posts has dropped dramatically recently - but that's due to pressure from my day job and can't be helped.

I can't help but wonder if my first sale was the result of my frequent social media updates. All I can do is try to up my game again and see if I get another sale as a result.

One thing I'm particularly proud of is getting on board with Pinterest. I've designed a Photoshop template that I'm going to use to create a pinnable for each new post I create as part of my branding strategy.

Conclusion

It's been a manic six weeks and I feel I've worked extremely hard in what little time I've had available to make the progress I have.

In the coming month, I plan to / expect:

  • Post at least 4 blog posts to my niche website
  • Post at least 2 blog posts to my Bootcamp website
  • For my WA rank to drop from 35 but stay within 200
  • Keep posting to social media every day for my niche site branding
  • Not make any goals regarding WA blog posts. I'll do these if I have the time. :)

I need to motivate myself like you. I have a real office now so maybe I can get some real work dome now.

Good luck!
You'll be surprised when you can work when you put your mind to it. I do most of my work at the kitchen table with my two year old asking for milk every 30 minutes or so. :D

Awesome

Thanks Brenda. :)

You have made incredible progress. All the best.

Eden

Thank you so much for posting this, Phil!
It‘s so motivating! :)
Best wishes & have a productive week!
~Benita

Thanks. It's weird to think that just trying to keep my head in the game by posting these actually helps others too.
I hope your week proves fruitful too. :)

Hi Phil - in fact it's inspiring me to post my own progress :)
Sometimes we - or better I - think it's not worth to post a progress update. Because it may just be a little something.

But really, we should celebrate those steps more often!
- I'll do that right now!
....saved your post for later references - will look at your training! :)

Best wishes!
~Benita

Awesome!
When we measure our own performance, it helps us to improve but when we don't, it's easy to become distracted and stop progressing altogether. :)

Great progress, Best Alan

Great update!

I love reading others' progress posts (whether it be good or bad :-), the mere fact we're all doing something and not settling for "circumstances" is progress to me. Thank you for sharing!

Me too - I love reading people's progress on the platform.
I believe that when we measure our progress it helps us to keep moving forwards. When we don't reflect on our efforts, I think that sooner or later our motivation is doomed to fizzle out (I made that mistake when I first joined).

Hey that's awesome sir well done enjoy your life I've found being here at wealthy Affiliates you can make your dreams come true so stay positive and moving up you are doing extremely well take care talk soon.

Kind regards
Nick.

Thanks Nick - I've still to make money (one sale doesn't count) but I know it's going to be months before that happens so... yeah... got to stay positive. Hence this progress update. :D

I know mate that how it is in beginning so I been told but you'll get there soon and I know how it is with sales I havnt made any yet but I hope I do soon and we all just be happy we got our lives as there are alot less fortunate than us and keep positive will keep us going I have ptsd cause of where I served when I was in military so get very down some days but I just do beat box with throat and sing to keep my self up every day I do that so stick to it bud and take care enjoy your evening sir.

Best
Nick.

Your rank dropped 'cause of all that time you spend in chat.

If that were true, you'd outrank Kyle & Carson by now. :-p

Can't they fixed the algorithim since the last time that happened? They (and Jsy) will always be 1-3 now.

Great post! Thank you for sharing your progress. :-)
