Like a rubber ball, I'll come bouncing back for more

I've nearly cancelled my membership several times over the last year.

I started the year with great intentions, all fired up with resolve to succeed and make my first one hundred dollars online.

I was so excited to be back working on the training that I somehow made ambassador because I was spending so much time here, helping other people.

I'm fortunate in that I have actually made money online already. I have some video courses that are creating a small amount as a passive income (around $20 a month) and I've just started selling books on Amazon (that's brought in a huge $10 so far). These sums may be small but they're proof that money can be made online.

But then I stumbled during the very real balancing act of taking care of my two daughters on my own and doing enough freelance work to pay the bills.

Something had to give and WA was it.

Perhaps foolishly, I continued to pay the monthly subscription for WA and I did nothing with it. I say foolishly, not because I think WA isn't worth the membership charge but rather that I was paying for something that I just wasn't using.

Decision time

Black Friday crept up on me and that's when I really asked myself, "am I ever going to make any money as an affiliate marketer or should I just cancel my membership now?"

Henry Ford is commonly attributed as saying, "whether you think you can or you can't you're right."

And deep down I've always harbored a self-defeating cynicism about making money online. It doesn't feel great saying it, but it's true. I've spent months on WA, plugging away at the training, publishing stuff to more than one site when I never really believed it would work.

It's little wonder that I didn't really find any measure of success.

So why didn't I quit?

Well, deep down, I also harbor the hope that it will work.

Reasons to be cheerful

Admit it, some of you were thinking, "one, two, three" at the end of the sub-heading. ;-)

Kyle and Carson seem to be quite genuine people that work hard to provide a platform that as a professional web-developer, I recognise as being pretty good value for money, just for the hosting!

And then there's the success stories here at WA. There's plenty of those here, posted by genuine people that have no reason to lie about it - and some even provide proof in the form of screenshots. Not screenshots of seven figure paychecks but believable figures like a few hundred.

I went ahead and took advantage of the Black Friday offer so that I could quit worrying about how I'm going to pay that monthly membership fee and start worrying about a publishing strategy.

Now I need to focus on just one thing and make it work.

I need to tame the grasshopper

Thanks to my grasshopper mind, I have too many ideas to just pick one, sometimes.

That's probably what led me to accomplish absolutely nothing.

There's an old proverb: "The hunter that chases two rabbits will catch neither."

This was me several months back - I created site after site, each with a bit of content and looking great but never publishing much to them. I have one niche site that I'm still interested in posting on but that's more of a hobby site than a business.

So now I need to look at my web-properties and make a choice.

Maybe even start the training again, from scratch.

I'm a little scared to be back, to be honest.

I could fail to achieve anything in the twelve months I've paid for.

But then, that's up to me, isn't it?

Hi Phil

Great to see you back! I, too, thought about cancelling my membership but went annual on black Friday as I didn't want to lose my site and the black Friday fee isn't much more than hosting elsewhere. Now it's time to get writing again!

Best Wishes
Hazel

That was part of my thinking too - but I do love not having to worry about finding the money each month for the next year. :D

Thanks for reaching out when I'd not posted for a while - that meant a lot to me. :)

You're welcome! :)

Yes not finding that $49 a month will be a weight lifted for me too.

Best Wishes
Hazel

Hi, Phil.

It's good to see you back. I'm still here plugging away, learning a little more each week. The longer I start with Wa and learning, the better I get.

I'm feeling more confident with my progress in the Bootcamp a.k.a Boomer Affiliate.

My niche is still undecided and in turmoil. I'm leaning towards writing as being my niche. I read a brilliant article (outside of WA) that talks about finding your passion.

I'm not sure which niche you have settled upon, but my suggestion (because I know how much you like this and with the lack of serious competition) is your doodling. You could even find a micro niche within doodling.

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks Paul!

I'm still working on developing the doodling idea and I'm still working on building my bootcamp site but I'm trying to make mine a little different as I'm not interested in reviewing scam products.

I think you should build that passion site - it will be a lot more fun to create content for, even if the visitor base is potentially smaller.

I think you must realize that your first step to succeeding is to believe that it is possible for YOU. You see others succeeding, but somehow think you won't be able to do the same. Wrong. You know already that you have to change your mindset. You need more faith in yourself. You can do it. Just don't give up.

I totally agree - I just need to keep that positive mindset as the days go by! :)
I think a major downer last time was when I got that email from Amazon saying they'd closed my affiliate account because of no sales.

Yes, I can understand how that can get you down. There are more fish in the sea, and you can return to Amazon later.

Sometimes coming back refocused can make all the difference, If you want to the next 12 months could be the most productive and life Channing ever.

You can do it.

Thanks Alex - I'm focused right now and the mistake I made last time was starting with a plan but not planning when I reached the end of that plan. :)

You may want to develop that hobby site, I know you can easily fill it with content especially if you are engage in it every day.

That was my thinking too - I'm going to keep working on it as a side project but my main site is going to be in the health sector, I think.

The source and fountain of content is your own involvement. It is different from what you like. That's my own experience, I so quick in creating a domain and website, after all, I find myself in difficulty because it's not what I'm involved with. I hope you are in that health.

Indeed. The health niche I'm going to be working on is something that's personally relevant so I should be able to keep producing content for it.

Glad to see u made the choice to continue. It really is up to us to make the best of it. I too can be somewhat cynical at times but the only one who is affected negatively is me and my pockets.

you got this!! and you already have some of the ground work completed. go back through the sites u do have u may only need to tweak them a little and start adding content. Its not too late.

Best of luck , keep me posted on your progress!!

Thanks April. I need all the encouragement I can get. :)

I've identified one that I think I can work with - it's all set up, it just needs lots of content!

Phil,
Congratulations on taking the yearly membership :)

Sounds like you need to focus - you have the right
ideas just not the focus to complete what you have
started. Instead of jumping in this time why not make
a serious business plan = allot time for everything you
need to accomplish and stick with it.
You will be surprised at the end of each month what
you have completed.

Good luck and you got this!
Susan

Thanks Susan - you're absolutely right. I do need a plan.

Well, I sort of have one.

Whereas before I was free-wheeling through the courses trying to come up with subjects to write about, this time I'm going to plan my next ten posts so I'm not stuck for something to write about.

I find the idea of not worrying about paying for each month exciting and I find the idea of not trying to think of what to write about quite exciting too. :)
