Well, I started the week with lots of enthusiasm about my plan to create four blog posts, tweet each day and create a Pin for the four new pieces of content but things didn't quite work out that way.

I discovered that three more of my websites had been infiltrated and redirected to another domain, all through one plugin's vulnerability so I had to get those fixed (thanks, Site Support) before I could move forward with my plans.

I did manage to get two blog posts written for my bootcamp site but sadly, because the site needed to be cleaned of infection, I didn't write anything for my niche site.

That's okay because the week presented new opportunities.

This is my 50th blog post

I was surprised when I published this post to see this is my 50th post here on Wealthy Affiliate. I had no idea I'd written that many.

Writing on WA has been really useful for a number of reasons. Here's a few:

  • It's good writing practice
  • Recognising what I did well helps motivate me
  • Writing about my mistakes helps me to learn from them
  • I love being part of the Wealthy Affiliate community

What I achieved this week

I managed to write two blog posts for my bookcamp site, one of which was a very short image-based post, designed for my social media accounts. The other was a 2,000 word post that I've yet to promote on social media but I really enjoyed writing (it's about psychology).

I also started building a new child theme for the niche site that I had to clean based upon the new Twentynineteen theme. I want to make the most of the new Gutenberg editor so I can ditch some plugins that are slowing my site down.

The speed increase is looking promising so far and I have high hopes that once I've completed the child theme, the site will look better and provide a boost to my Google rankings, speed-wise.

I'm going to be making movies

Although I didn't get to create any blog posts for my niche site, a post about diversifying your income streams by @BenjisDad sent me down another potential source of traffic - YouTube videos.

I've been trying to write blog posts for my site but perhaps I'd be better off creating video content, considering the blog is in a creative niche so I'm going to give that a go this week.

I've got the camera set up and hopefully the lighting should be okay for me to create my first piece of video blog content. It's about time I posted something to my YouTube channel.

My goals for the coming week

As I said in the last weekly digest, I'm not beating myself up if I don't achieve my goals, I now view them as a path to follow for the week rather than a burden to carry.

I didn't do very well on my social media interaction this week so I need to rectify that, I want to keep up the pace with my content creation for the bootcamp blog and I want to implement Benjisdad's advice and try out video production as a new content creation tool.

So here's this week's bullet list:

  1. Publish at least one article to the boot camp blog
  2. Publish at least one post to the niche blog
  3. Make progress on the new child theme for the niche blog
  4. Create and publish a video content post for my niche blog
  5. Post to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest at least once for each blog

Five easy goals. Simple, right? :)

Congratulations on 50 blogs!
I look forward to seeing your success on YouTube, I’m hoping to start that mid 2019.
Continued Blessings !
KyleAnn

Thanks KyleAnn.

I've still to record that first video (it's rather hectic, wrapping up my day job in the last week before Christmas) but I'm still aiming to get one done!

Good plan to follow and discipline oneself.

Thanks Jimmy. )

Yep, simple. Isn't it funny how things multiply all by themselves? I set daily goals and if I reach all of them I'm very pleased. Sometimes the world just gets in the way. It's really good, though, that you have a plan for your day, whether you get it all completed or not. It will lead to more progress.

Absolutely - if we don't plan for progress, it doesn't usually happen.

Goals help us to move forward, even if we don't make it all the way to the goal. :)

Setting goals is a very good exercise but for me, My goals sometimes seem to be too high I think I have to lower them down a notch.

I think it's better to set realistic goals that challenge you than to set something that you're going to easily achieve.

I view goals as a focal point rather than a must-do now.

A mentor pointed out to me that goals are things you're aiming for whilst tasks are things you need to do.

WA blog posting is great writing practice. Take it from me!

It certainly is!
The community provides great feedback too - which helps us to refine style and structure for our blogs.

Phil,
I set my goals to actually start in January because I want to
finish boot camp by the end of December so I am rolling
along and trying to keep those going for this month to start
but so far I am not quite keeping up with them. But like you
said - we adjust to fit what we can into our time - I just started
the videos and got a YouTube Channel so that is what I need
to fit into my schedule now as well - wishing you luck and
best wishes meeting yours.
Thanks for sharing,
Susan

I need to get back on with the boot camp training - I've been focusing on getting the niche site training finished (I thought after two years, it's about time). :)

I'm pretty nervous about creating the videos. I don't think I have a good "narrating voice" so I'm pretty self-conscious about it.
